Sgraffito is an ancient decorative technique applied in walls, produced by using layers of cement plaster tinted in contrasting colours to a moistened surface. This decoration originated in Italy and has been expanded in different European cities or villages. Nowadays, this decoration technique has almost disappeared because of decomposition, inexperience, or lack of knowledge. The preservation and restoration of the sgraffito technique is the most challenging and vital task of cultural heritage buildings’ preservation. Consequently, the conservation of sgraffito depends not only on the historical and architectural knowledge, studies, and conservation projects of the cultural heritage buildings, but also demands the experience, proper qualification, and knowledge of the contractor. This paper presents six principal criteria. Three possible variants for contractor selection for sgraffito decoration of cultural heritage buildings are proposed, and six principal criteria for their evaluation are suggested. The research employs the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), SWARA (Step-Wise Weights Assessment Ratio Analysis), and WASPAS-SVNS (Weight Aggregated Sum Product Assessment-Single- Valued Neutrosophic Set) methods.

This paper focuses on design aspects regarding breakwaters for cold climate terminals, in particular, the different types of berm breakwaters, their stability, armour mobility criteria and armour size. A methodology is analyzed in order to determine the mean weight of the heaviest armour class as a function of wave parameters such as the significant wave height and the mean wave period, both for non-reshaping and reshaping stable berm breakwaters. The influence of the wave period on the stone mass required will be of special importance in the discussion. This methodology will enable us to determine the required median armour weight for a specific wave parameter, being easily able to compare the feasibility of different concepts or availability of the required stone size at the location. As a case study, the breakwater selection for the Melkøya terminal in the Norwegian Barents Sea, is assessed through a comparison of the necessary armour unit masses for the different berm breakwaters. The armour mobility criteria currently established is reviewed and a recommendation for an updated criterion for the statically stable non-reshaped berm breakwater category is proposed.

Developing deepwater oil and gas resource is the trend of oil industry development. It is important to select a proper development scenario and riser system which works as a key tool to connect subsea equipment and surface body in a deepwater project. Based on the West Africa’s deepwater target field CNOOC owned, this paper designs a detailed development scenario-FPSO +SPS +Shuttle tanker according to the following factors: well, reservoir layout, environment, floaters availability, commercial considerations. Floater and riser selection interact with each other. Considering the development scenario, a basic method for selecting a proper riser system is presented. As a result, FSHR is selected from existing risers based on technology, reliability, risk and cost.

The contractor is the primary stakeholder in materializing a project concept. For the successful completion of any project, it is compulsory for the contractor to have relevant experience. The selection of the appropriate contractor depends on various criteria. This study aims to study these selection criteria. Based on 71 questionnaire forms received from representatives of contractor, consultant and client firms involved in execution works of construction activities it is found that quality, bid amount, technical capability, financial stability, and experience are five commonly adopted criteria for contractor selection in construction works in Pakistan. On the other hand, quality, technical capability, financial stability, equipment availability, and management capability are reported as the top five effective criteria for appropriate contractor selection for any construction project.
