Abstract Two new pentacyclic triterpenes 8,26-cyclo-urs-21-en-3β, 20β-diol (1) and 3β-acetoxy-8.26- cyclo-ursan-20β-ol (2) together with 3-friedelanone, oleanolic acid, betulinic acid, lupeol acetate, α- and β-amyrine, S.SJ^'-tetrahydroxyflavane, and 3,5,7,3',4'-pentahydroxyflavane were isolated from the stem bark of Ficus cordata (Moraceae). The structures of these secondary metabolites were established using ID and 2D NMR spectra and by comparison with published data or with authentic samples. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited weak antibacterial and no antifungal activity.

The dichloromethane extract of the stem bark of Teclea amaniensis has yielded two novel furoquinoline alkaloids, 5-[3-methylbut-2-enyl]-4,6,7-trimethoxyfuro[2,3- b]quinoline and 6-(2′,3′-epoxy-3-methylbutyl)-5-hydroxyl-4,7-dimethoxyfuro[2,3- b]quinoline, in addition to an acridone alkaloid, 2-hydroxy-1,3-dimethoxy-10-methylacridone. Three known alkaloids, dictamnine, kokusaginine and evoxanthine, and two known triterpenoids, lupeol and lupeol acetate were also isolated. Structures of the new compounds were established by means of NMR spectroscopic and MS data.

Chrysophanol, physcion, emodin, floribundone-1, 5,7′-physcion-fallacinol, and the novel 5,7′-physcion-physcion-10′- C-α-arabinopyranoside were isolated from the stem bark of Senna septemtrionalis. The structures of these secondary metabolites were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, especially from NMR spectra in conjunction with COSY, HMQC, HMBC and TOCSY.

The genus Acacia has been known to be a rich source of many secondary metabolites. This study was carried to isolate chemical constituents present in the stem bark of Acacia auriculiformis. The dichloromethane extract of the stem bark of Acacia auriculiformis was obtained by maceration. The extract obtained was subjected to silica gel column chromatography and preparative TLC. The isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic analysis. This led to the isolation of ferulic acid ester (I), along with a steroid (II) and a triterpenoid (III). The structure of compound I was established using spectroscopic analysis (UV, IR, NMR and mass spectrometry) and identified to be dodecyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-trans-cinnamate (I), compounds II and III were found to be á-spinasterol and lupenol respectively, based on the comparison of their spectral data NMR and MS with literature report. Compound I is being reported for the first time in the genus Acacia.

Bioprospecting has contributed to the work of pharmaceutical chemists in the development and commercial disposal of new drugs. Currently, the pharmaceutical industry has emphasized drugs produced from bioactive compounds extracted from natural sources, based on popular medicine discussed in the literature, such as secondary metabolites isolated from the stem bark and seeds of the Amburana cearensis, rich in coumarin derivatives, flavonoids, and phenolic acids and is popularly used in the treatment of respiratory diseases and with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant bioactivity. This review is a study of the structure/activity and structure/property (SAR/SPA) relationship with the physicochemical properties calculated by the algorithms of the MarvinSketch software for the secondary metabolites of A. cearensis, as well as their correlation with in silico test values the SwissADME and admetSAR 2.0 servers and in vitro and in vivo models of the dataset from the PreADMET, GUSAR Online and PASS Online servers. The results showed that substances derived from coumarin, flavonoids, and phenolic acids have attributes of good permeability and low efflux, which favor their oral bioavailability, since phenolic heterosides, amburoside analogs, and biflavonoids are effective in local action as subcutaneous application, constituting promising antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant therapeutic actions in their proper administration routes.

A qualitative study has done  of the antibacterial effect of matoa (Pometia pinnata) stem bark extract against Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus . Before the antibacterial test , samples were extracted by maceration and then  phytochemical  tested to measuring the content of secondary metabolites  that have been known to act as an antibacterial agent . After being tested of phytochemical , extracts were tested the antibacterial effect  against Staphylococcus aureus using agar diffusion technique. Extract was dissolved in sterile distilled water with a ratio of 2 g of extract in 2 mL of water . For the positive control , use of ciprofloxacin and sterile distilled water as a negative control . Results of this study indicate that matoa bark extract has antibacterial effect after incubation for 24 h at 37OC . Of 3 times with each repetition - each 3 wells, the inhibition zone obtained - each 16.84 mm , 12.5 mm and 14.5 mm with 29.67 mm of positive control and a negative control by 0 mm . The results are supported by the presence of secondary metabolites by phytochemical test such as tannins , flavonoids , terpenoids and saponins.
