New poly[(N-ester-azo)-3-ether-4-chloro)maleimides] and poly(azomethin-ester-aspartimides) were synthesized by the reaction of N-[4-(formylphenoxy carboxylphenyl)]-3-(4-formylphenoxy)-4-chloromaleimide (3 a) or N-[4-formylphenoxycarbonylphenyl)maleimide (3 b) with various diamines. IR and elemental analyses confirmed the structures of the resulting polymers. A series of model compounds were synthesized to facilitate confirmation of the polymer structures. The polymers possess inherent viscosities in the range 0.17–0.42 dl g−1, solubility in aprotic dipolar solvents and 5% weight loss at temperatures above 300 °C.

A series of novel highly branched poly(urethane-imide)s (PUIs) were first successfully prep- ared by a two-step method with toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI), pentaerythritol (PAT) and dianhydrides, including pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA). It was found that the prepolymerization of PAT and TDI at 40 °C was ascertained to be 40 minutes. And the imidization of the prepolymer and PMDA was successfuly carried out after 120 °C for 2 hours. The XRD demonstrated that the obtained highly branched PUIs pre- sented semicrystalline aggregation structure which had clear crystal phase with the d-spacing around 0.39 nm. TGA curves exhibited that these highly branched PUIs had obviously two steps of weight loss attributed to the urethane chain segment and imide chain segment, respectively. The solubility testing indicated that the highly branched PUIs exhibited desirable solubility in various polar aprotic solvents, and were also resistant to dilute acid corrosion.

AbstractA number of mono(carboxylato)mono(alkoxo)nickel(II) complexes of the general formula, Ni(OR)(OOCR′), (with R′ = C13H27, C15H35 and C17H35) have been synthesized (where R = Me and Pri) by the reactions of nickel methoxide and isopropoxide with the respective carboxylic acids in equimolar ratio and (where R = Et and But) by alcohol interchange reactions. A study of the molecular weight, infra-red and electronic reflectance spectra and magnetic susceptibility in addition to elemental analyses has been carried out to throw some light on the probable structure of these derivatives.

Synthesis of some new dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes having general formula [MoO2(mac)](acac)2, (where mac = tetraazamacrocyclic ligands derived from condensation of furil with 1,2-diaminobenzene or 2,3-diaminopyridine and their reaction with ?-diketones) using dioxometal ion as kinetic template are reported. The prepared complexes have been characterized by molar conductance, elemental analyses, infrared and electronic data. The spectral data indicate that ligands act as tetradentate chelating agent. Due to their biological relevance, molybdenum catalyzed oxygen transfer reactions have great interest. All the dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes have octahedral geometry with six coordination.
