The implementation of lesson study as a tool to improve the students’ higher order thinking skill on trigonometric material regarding creative thinking skill

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih guru bahasa Inggris dalam meningkatkan kemampuan high order thinking peserta didik pada skill writing melalui learning community menuju caring community. Pengabdian ini menggunakan rancangan berbasis lesson study yang dilaksanakan di SMAN 2 Peusangan. Subjek pengabdian terdiri dari 1 orang guru bahasa inggris dan peserta didik kelas II IPA 3 yang berjumlah 28 orang. Pelaksanaan pengabdian yaitu tahap pertama melalui workshop kepada guru bahasa inggris untuk sosialisasi pemahaman cara pelaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis lesson study yang dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan refleksi. Data yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah nilai tes peserta didik, observasi, field note dan dokumentasi, data dianalisis secara kualitatif yaitu persentase. Hasil pengabdian dan pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa HOTS (higher order thinking skill)peserta didik meningkat sebesar 90% yang diiringi dengan perubahan peningkatan sikap peserta didik menjadi lebih bertanggung jawab dan menghargai dengan cara saling asah asih dan asuh sebagai wujud caring community. Sedangkan untuk guru telah menunjukkan hasil profesionalisme melalui penerapan lesson study dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is a way of thinking that puts forward the values of critical and creative thinking so that it is considered capable of providing solutions in facing the challenges of the times. To have high-level thinking skills (HOTS), teachers must be able to design HOTS-based learning to help students develop higher-order thinking skills. The ability in question is related to the ability to think critically, reflective, metacognitive, and creative thinking. This is consistent with the objectives in the 2013 curriculum in PP No. 17 of 2010, to prepare Indonesian people to have the ability to live as individuals and citizens who are faithful, productive, creative, innovative, and affective and able to contribute to the life of society, nation, state and world civilization

This study aims to describe the higher order thinking skills of children aged 4-6 years in early language learning based on lesson study. The research method used descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were B group students of Telkom Preschool Ternate in 2020/2021 academic year. Data collection was carried out using direct observation, in-depth interviews and documentation that explored children's abilities of critical and creative thinking aspects. Data were analyzed which followed to the three main steps; data reduction, data presentation and verification, and concluding. The study found that early language learning based-on lesson study activities can stimulate children's abilities in critical aspect; 18 students (81.8%) answered questions and retold and 4 students (18.2%) are able to interpret stories. Meanwhile, in creative thinking aspects 10 students (45.5%) have criteria that often appear of completing assignments in the form of the work given by the teacher. The children identify the problem, giving various responses and comments; become active learner both collaboratively in completing sharing and jumping tasks on ‘ profession’

This study aimed to produce the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)’ questions of relation and function material that had validity and practicality and also had potential effect to support student’s creative thinking. This research was a descriptive research with design research method and development study type. The questions of relation and function material developed based on characteristics of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions and followed stages of development study, such as: self evaluation, experts review, one-to-one, small group and field test. The subjects of this research were 38 students of eight grader from SMP Negeri 17 Palembang. They participated on one-to-one, small group and field test. Data collected using walkthroughs, interviews, questionnaires and tests. Validity of questions knew form experts review result based on content, construct and language. Practicality of questions knew from small group result about student’ understanding of purpose of questions and procedural of answering questions. Potential effect did known by test on field test stage. The result showed the HOTS’ questions of relation and function material truly supported student’s creative thinking.
