Abstract. In a study with 12 calves on milk nutrition, the course of methemoglobinemia as well as ttansrenal passage of nitrates and nitrites after single per os administrations of 4 g NaNO2 per animal and 30 g KNO3 per animal in the form of water Solutions has been observed. The response of the organism of calves to per os administered doses of sodium nitrite and potassium nitrate was observed by the determination of tlie methemoglobin percentage in blood and the nitrate and nitrite content in urine before the administration ofthe respective dose and after h 1, 2, 3 and 4 after the administration. A significant elevation in the values of methemoglobin was recorded after h 2 after the administration of 4g NaNO3 per animal. The mean value of methemoglobin in blood was 18.84% of total hemoglobin. A slight decline in the values occurred as early as after h 3 after the administration. Of clinical signs, cyanosis of visible mucosae was observed. The highest nitrite and nitrate values in urine were determined after h 2 after per os administration of 4g NaNO2, With the administration of 30g KNO3 per animal, the most pronounced elevation in methemoglobinemia was observed after h 3, when the means values of methemoglobin was 11,75%. Of clinical signs, only slight cyanosis of mucosae was detectable. Maximum values of nitrates in urine of experimental calves after h 3 after the administration of 30 g KNO3 per animal, with the mean value of 29,9 mM NO3−1 clearly demonstrate a good transrenal passage of nitrates in calves on milk nutrition.

In recent years, nitrite pollution has become a subject of great concern for human lives, involving a number of fields, such as environment, food industry and biological process. However, the effective detection of nitrite is an instant demand as well as an unprecedented challenge. Here, a novel nitrite sensor was fabricated by electrochemical deposition of palladium and platinum (Pd-Pt) nanocomposites on porous gallium nitride (PGaN). The obtained Pd-Pt/PGaN sensor provides abundant electrocatalytic sites, endowing it with excellent performances for nitrite detection. The sensor also shows a low detection limit of 0.95 µM, superior linear ampere response and high sensitivity (150 µA/mM for 1 to 300 µM and 73 µA/mM for 300 to 3000 µM) for nitrite. In addition, the Pd-Pt/PGaN sensor was applied and evaluated in the determination of nitrite from the real environmental samples. The experimental results demonstrate that the sensor has good reproducibility and long-term stability. It provides a practical way for rapidly and effectively monitoring nitrite content in the practical application.

Abstract Samples of filter paper were found which contain sufficient nitrite to cause significant error in determining the nitrite content of cured meat products by the official AOAC method. Six of 28 boxes of filter paper examined were contaminated with nitrite. All 6 contaminated boxes were the same brand and grade. These samples of filter paper could contribute from 4.6 to 18.4 ppm nitrite to the amount of nitrite analyzed for in meat.

The invention relates to building materials field, especially the determination method relates to a concrete root ion content of nitrite. Nitrite as antifreeze in the concrete, early strength agent and rust resistance agent composition is widely used in reinforced concrete structure, the admixture of cement quality generally accounted for 1-3% range, its content is too little and too much will affect the durability and workability of concrete, if insufficient dosage when the early strength, anti-freezing and anti-rust effect is not obvious, otherwise affect the workability and durability, when used as a rust inhibitor and dispersant, insufficient dosage, sometimes, can produce local corrosion and accelerate the macro cell corrosion. Therefore, the determination of nitrite ion content in root of concrete (or mortar) has become the inevitable trend of modern concrete production.

<p>This study<strong> </strong>focused on Making and Testing sample  control as reference material on determination of nitrite content in water and waste water by using UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. Sample control has been made to replaced Certified Reference Materials (CRM) for  determination of Nitrite content in water and waste water by using UV -Visible  Spectrophotometer. Substitute materials for CRM should be homogeneous and stable, so the homogenity and stability control sample that has been made in this study  is tested by using standard referring to ISO Guide 35 , 2006. The result of   this experiments shows that    the values of Fstat and Ftable  on homogenity test are  0.796 and 3.179 (Fstat &lt;  Ftable); while the values of  tstat and table  on the stability test are 0.431 and 2.101 (tstat &lt;  table),  the mean of control sample concentration is 0,0435 mg / L. All test parameters have been qualified in accordance with ISO Guide 35 , 2006. The result of this  research shows  that the control of samples on the determination of Nitrite in water and waste water by using UV-Visible Spectrophotometer can be used as  substitute for CRM and reference material.</p>
