Abstract Modelling of transport mode choice preferencehas beencurrently regarded essential to identify the preference of transport agents towards a transport policy. This research proposes a model of the freight mode choice preference by using Stated Preference Methods for the data collection from industrial freight shippers in Gresik, Indonesia. This research examines how truck as an existing mode and rail as a sustainable mode alternative compete for goods movement. As the common feature of discrete choice models, the Binary Logit was utilized to analyze the data. The sensitivity of mode preferences was investigated by changing the shipping cost and hauling time. The results indicated that the respondents were sensitive to haul time and shipping cost. When the shipping cost and hauling time was similar, the probability of choosing a truck was 77%. However, the industrial freight shippers changed the preference when the truck’s shipping cost and haul time was higher than that in the train. The train had a 65% choosing probability when the cost difference was IDR 500,000 lower and the hauling time difference was two days faster than the truck. This study assisted the policymakers to correctly design the variables of shipping cost and hauling time for the future sustainable inland transportation based on freight shipper’s preferences.

Jakarta Light Rail Transit (Jakarta LRT) has been planned to be built as one of mass rail-based public transportation system in DKI Jakarta. The objective of this paper is to obtain a mode choice models that can explain the probability of choosing Jakarta LRT, and to estimate the sensitivity of mode choice if the attribute changes. Analysis of the research conducted by using discrete choice models approach to the behavior of individuals. Choice modes were observed between 1) Jakarta LRT and TransJakarta Bus, 2) Jakarta LRT and KRL-Commuter Jabodetabek. Mode choice model used is the Binomial Logit Model. The research data obtained through Stated Preference (SP) techniques. The model using the attribute influences such as tariff, travel time, headway and walking time. The models obtained are reliable and validated. Based on the results of the analysis shows that the most sensitive attributes affect the mode choice model is the tariff.

This paper presents a model capturing the intercity freight mode choice behaviour in high-speed rail system from Bangkok to Chiangmai. The model is developed based on the stated preference data collected from 800 freight operators, wholesaler, retailer, and people. The results show that, when the high-speed rail system from Bangkok to Chiangmai are developing in the future, the suitable products for high-speed rail system are types of an express mail service (EMS), air cargo, gold, jewellery, gold accessories, computer circuit boards, high prices agricultural products such as fruit, and flowers. Most of determining the selling price will fluctuate with the speed of transport and damage impairment of the product. With the application of discrete choice models, the results show that, aside from travel cost and time, loading and unloading, delays time, frequency are statistically significant. The application of model indicated that the holder and freight forwarder which in the line of high-speed rail (Bangkok – Chiangmai) tend to use rail-transport such as double-track rail is 27.71%, high-speed rail is 11.18% and the most is trucks 56.51% which is a policy development point loading and unloading, multimodal transportation efficiency and safety of the portion of the freight high-speed rail increased.

This paper presents an investigation of the mode choice behavior of cross-regional commuters in the greater Toronto and Hamilton area of Ontario, Canada. A survey of cross-regional intermodal passenger travel (called SCRIPT) was developed and conducted during the spring and the fall of 2014. SCRIPT collects data on respondents' revealed preference in daily commuting trips to pivot each respondent's mode choice stated preference experiment separately. An innovative multimodal trip planner tool was developed to generate feasible travel options for each stated preference experiment with information on household auto ownership level, proximity to transit, work start time, and total travel time from home to work, as well as predeveloped discrete choice models to identify access station locations of intermodal travel modes. The stated preference experiments were based on the D-efficient design technique. The survey used 1,203 randomly selected cross-regional commuters. The paper reports on a mode choice model estimated by the revealed preference data portion of the survey to verify the validity of the survey design, sampling procedure, and data quality. An empirical model provides insight into cross-regional commuters' mode choice behavior.

Beside the ridesoucing service, ridesplitting service is also offered by Transport Network Companies (TNC). The ridesplitting service have more benefit than ridesourcing because it is using the concept of carsharing. The current condition for ridesplitting service is not popular and only have small demand than ridesourcing service. This study aims to establish a mode choice model between ridesourcing and ridesplitting service in DKI Jakarta and to estimate the potential of demand shifting from ridesourcing to ridesplitting service in DKI Jakarta. The mode choice model is developed from binary logit model with stated preference survey using fare saving, additional time travel and security presented by gender parameter of ridesplitting service. the sensitivity of logit model show that highest sensitivity rate to increase mode switching to ridesplitting service is in 20% to 50% fare saving level. The probability of current condition to switch to ridesplitting service is 20%.

Since the passage of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 there has been an increasing interest in the planning and design of an intermodal passenger transportation system. It has long been recognized that modal transfer has a certain penalty associated with it. The recent surge in intermodal planning merits an in-depth examination and accurate measurement of the penalties associated with transfers between modes. Current planning procedures usually involve an ad hoc treatment of transfer penalties based on various assumptions of wait time and value of time. To better assess the disutility associated with modal transfers, discrete choice models are used to quantify transfer penalties and their effects on mode choice in different transfer contexts. Revealed and stated preference data from the New York–New Jersey commute corridors are used to estimate logit models of mode choice reflecting the impacts of modal transfers. The model results suggest that the penalty factor associated with transfer time should be higher than that traditionally used in travel demand models and that the value of the transfer penalty varies according to the type of modal transfer.

Subject. The article focuses on the advanced time-driven tools for allocating overhead expenses, which are based on process-based budgeting. Objectives. We articulate a technique for cost allocation so as to assess the cost of each process with reference to the common time driver. Methods. The study relies upon methods of systematization, classification, analogy and comparison, and summarizes the scientific literature on the subject. Results. The article presents our own suggestions on implementing TD-ABC and TD-ABB into the strategic management accounting process of developer companies. The principles were proved to help more effectively allocate overhead expenses and assess the capacity load of each process performed by functions, departments and employees. Carrying out a comparative analysis, we found certain reserves for utilizing resources more effectively. Conclusions and Relevance. The findings are of scientific and practical significance and can be used by developer and construction businesses. The conclusions can prove helpful for scientific papers, student books, and further research.
