The one-dimensional coordination polymer (I) [Sr(ib)2(H2mda)] n (Hib = isobutyric acid, C4H8O2, and H2mda = N-methyldiethanolamine, C5H13NO2), namely, catena-poly[[(N-methyldiethanolamine-κ3 O,N,O′)strontium(II)]-di-μ2-isobutyrato-κ3 O,O′:O;κ3 O:O,O′], was prepared by the one-pot aerobic reaction of [Zr6O4(OH)4(ib)12(H2O)]·3Hib with Sr(NO3)2 and H2mda in the presence of MnCl2 and Et3N in acetonitrile. The use of MnCl2 is key to the isolation of I as high-quality colorless crystals in good yield. The molecular solid-state structure of I was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound I crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c and shows a one-dimensional polymeric chain structure. Each monomeric unit of this coordination polymer consists of a central SrII ion in the NO8 coordination environment of two deprotonated ib− ligands and one fully protonated H2mda ligand. The C and O atoms of the H2mda ligand were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with site occupancies of 0.619 (3) and 0.381 (3). Compound I shows thermal stability up to 130°C in air.

A chain Ni (II) coordination polymer material was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 1.24348(13) nm, b = 1.29477(12) nm, c = 1.51480(17) nm and Dc = 1.401 g•cm-3. The results of structural analysis indicated that each Ni (II) ion forms six-coordinated with nitrogen atoms of pyridine and thiocyanate, and the Ni (II) coordination polymer material formed one dimensional chain structure by the interaction of pyridine rings.

A new triazine ligand salt, 2,2′,2″-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(hydrazin-1-ium) chloride [THT·(HCl)3], and the one-dimensional coordination polymer of cadmium, [Cd2( µ-THT)( µ-Cl)( µ-I)I2]·2(H2O), are prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (for the cadmium polymer). X-ray analysis revealed that the polymeric backbone is extended alternatively by di-iodo and di-chloro bridges; this type of bridge is not observed previously between any metal atoms. There are two types of cadmium atoms in the polymer: cadmium of the polymeric chain and terminal cadmiums. The geometry around the first (CdN2Cl2I2) is octahedral, while the latter (CdN3I2) has an incline to square-pyramidal geometry. The triazine ligand of this structure also bridges two cadmium atoms and acts as an N3 donor toward the terminal cadmium atoms and as an N2 donor toward the cadmium atoms of the chain. In the crystal network of the cadmium polymer, the hydrogen bonds of N–H···X (X: O, N, I) form different hydrogen bond motifs, including [Formula: see text](8), [Formula: see text](10), [Formula: see text](14), [Formula: see text](18), [Formula: see text](20), [Formula: see text](24), [Formula: see text](28), and [Formula: see text](32).

AbstractThe cyano-bridged heteronuclear coordination polymer of zinc(II)/nickel(II) has been prepared by N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylendiamine (hydet-en), alternatively named 2-(2-aminoethylamino)-ethanol and characterised by IR and thermal analysis. In the bimetallic complex, the decomposition of hydet-en ligands is seen to be endothermic whereas that of the cyano ligands is found to be exothermic. The crystal structure of the complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the zinc(II)-nickel(II) complex consists of a one-dimensional polymeric chain –Zn(hydet-en)

A novel infinite one-dimensional silver cylinder, namely poly[μ-ethylenediamine-μ5-(2-sulfanidylbenzoato)-μ4-(2-sulfanidylbenzoato)-tetrasilver(I)], [Ag4(C7H4O2S)2(C2H8N2)]n, has been synthesized by one-pot reaction of equivalent molar silver nitrate and 2-mercaptobenzoic acid (H2mba) in the presence of ethylenediamine (eda). One Ag atom is located in an AgS2NO four-coordinated tetrahedral geometry, two other Ag atoms are in an AgS2O three-coordinated T-shaped geometry and the fourth Ag atom is in an AgSNO coordination environment. The two mba ligands show two different binding modes. The μ2-N:N′-eda ligand, acting as a bridge, combines with mba ligands to extend the AgIions into a one-dimensional silver cylinder incorporating abundant Ag...Ag interactions ranging from 2.9298 (11) to 3.2165 (13) Å. Interchain N—H...O hydrogen bonds extend the one-dimensional cylinder into an undulating two-dimensional sheet, which is further packed into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework by van der Waals interactions; no π–π interactions were observed in the crystal structure.

The reaction of CoSO4with 2,4-oxydibenzoic acid (H2oba) and 4,4′-bipyridine (bipy) under hydrothermal condition yielded a new one-dimensional cobalt(II) coordination polymer, {[Co(C14H9O5)2(C10H8N2)(H2O)2]·2H2O}n, which was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic properties and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The CoIIions are connected by bipy ligands into infinite one-dimensional chains. The Hoba−ligands extend out from the two sides of the one-dimensional chain. O—H...O hydrogen bonding extends these chains into a two-dimensional supramolecular architecture.
