Rhenium(VII) solvent extraction with synergistic mixtures of neutral extractants (octyl alcohols and ketones) from sulphuric acid media has been investigated. It was observed that the synergistic effect appeared under solvent extraction from high acid solutions, consisting ≥ 5 mol/L H2SO4.The synergistic coefficients were up to 2–2,3 providing 97,5–98,7% rhenium(VII) extraction efficiency at one SX step. High rhenium(VII) SX efficiency maintained in the wide range of extraction mixtures compositions (10–50 % v/v of ketone).

In recent years more attention is paid to high-efficiency and nontoxic corrosion inhibitor. Synergistic inhibition is an effective means to improve the inhibitive force of inhibitor. The aim of this work is to attempt to find out inhibition mechanism and synergistic effect of Lysozyme (LYZ) and vitamin B1 (VB1) and to diversify the application of inhibitor in acidic medium. The corrosion inhibition effect of LYZ and VB1 for carbon steel specimens in 0.5 mol•L-1 sulphuric acid solution have been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The obtained results show that carbon steel is more efficiently protected by the mixture of lysozyme and vitamin B1 (LYZ-VB1) than LYZ or VB1. By potentiodynamic polarization method, the highest inhibition efficiencies of 89.5% and 80.04% are observed with single LYZ or VB1, respectively, and an improved inhibition efficiency of 94.2% is obtained with LYZ-VB1 at 25°C.

The inhibition ability of the new derivative (quinolin-2-one), namely (1-{[5-(2-Chloro-phenylazo)-2- hydroy-benzylidene]-amino}-4,7-dimethyl -6-nitro- 1H-quinolin-2-one (CPHAQ2O)) towards carbon steel corrosion in (3.5% NaCl) and (0.5M HCl) solutions were evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization at different inhibitor concentrations. Polarization curves showed that the evaluated compound acted as mixed inhibitors, and the adsorption of the evaluated inhibitor obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm in both salt and acid solutions. The results revealed that the percentage inhibition efficiency (%IE) in the salty solution (90.55%) is greater than that in the acidic solution (77.62%). The surface changes of the carbon steel and the film persistency of the inhibitor were studied using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy).
