Purpose – Although the research on organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs) has increased dramatically in diverse fields during the past decade, little is known about the OCBs in the information systems area. The purpose of this study was to explore whether total quality management (TQM) mediates between OCB and enterprise resource planning (ERP) system success. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected with a questionnaire from subordinates of leaders in steel melting industry in Iran and were used to test the model introduced. Findings – The authors discovered the relationship between OCB and ERP success and the mediating role of TQM in this model. Research limitations/implications – Based on the findings of this study, managers who try for the success of ERP systems can revise their assessment systems through TQM to identify and reward employees who have positive impact in the field of OCB. Originality/value – Limited knowledge is available on the mediating role of TQM between OCB and ERP success in the managing field. The authors prepare a model and test this model in that company.

Enterprises have implemented enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems as a strategic vehicle to gain a competitive edge. However, such ERP systems do not always guarantee successful results. While ERP systems may provide an organization with numerous benefits, they can also destroy a business if not successfully adopted, owing to enormous investment losses coupled with low business efficiency. To explore a way to reverse this situation, we examine how organizational citizenship behavior influences the successful management of ERP systems. Moreover, the mediating role of absorptive capacity in this relationship is investigated. The empirical analysis results, based on 188 surveyed organizations in Korea, reveal a partial mediating role of absorptive capacity on the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and ERP usage performance. The findings of the study shed light on the ways of how the companies that adopt ERP systems to facilitate ERP usage and to gain business sustainability.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how authentic leadership (AL) can affect individual performance through creativity and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB)’s mediating roles. Design/methodology/approach The sample included 177 leader-follower dyads from 26 private and small and medium-sized organizations. Followers reported their perceptions of AL, and leaders assessed each follower’s level of creativity, individual performance and OCB. Findings The findings show that AL has a positive impact on OCB (i.e. altruism, sportsmanship, civic virtue, conscientiousness and courtesy), employee creativity, and individual performance. Creativity partially mediates the relationship between AL and individual performance. Some dimensions of OCB, namely, altruism, civic virtue and courtesy, also play a mediating role in this relationship. Research limitations/implications Additional studies with larger samples are needed to determine more clearly not only AL’s influence on individual performance but also other psychosocial variables affecting that relationship. Practical implications Organizations can increase employees’ creativity, OCB and individual performance by encouraging managers to adopt more AL styles. Originality/value This study is the first to integrate AL, creativity, OCB and individual performance into a single research model, thereby extending previous research. The study also used a double-source method to collect data (i.e. leader-follower dyads) to minimize the risk of introducing common-method variance.

PurposeThe study aims to examine the joint effect of total quality management (TQM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and organizational performance on organizational excellence.Design/methodology/approachTo achieve the goal of this study through the hypothesized model, a survey questionnaire research design was employed. The data were collected from a Dubai Police organization. Out of 550 questionnaires, 320 questionnaires were returned. The structural equation modelling (SEM) partial least squares approach was used to analyze the data for measurement and structural models.FindingsThe statistical results confirmed the positive and significant effects of TQM, ERP and organizational performance on organizational excellence. The mediation role of organizational performance between TQM, ERP and organizational excellence also was confirmed.Practical implicationsThroughout this study, further details and valuable implications have been discussed. Findings provide several practical implications. Findings also help practitioners and managers make proper decisions when implementing TQM, ERP and excellence practices in their organizations. With the joint effect of TQM, ERP and organizational performance, organizations can achieve maximum strong excellence and remain in a competitive market. This current study presents potential to be used in didactical initiatives.Originality/valueThis study is a unique empirical research that examines the joint effect of TQM, ERP and performance on excellence relationships. In other words, the current study is one of the few studies that investigate the mediating role of organizational performance beside the organizational excellence as the ultimate variable in developing country, specifically in UAE.

In the past decades, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have becomeincreasingly automated, particularly for routine management accounting tasks. However, therehas been little research investigating the accounting benefits of adopting ERP systems. Thisstudy investigates the role of perceived accounting benefits in ERP success. Drawing on Juran’sprinciple of ‘fitness for use,’ this study establishes a framework that captures how perceivedaccounting benefits influence effective system use, which, in turn, enhances enterprise success.Using Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with survey datacollected from 120 enterprises in Vietnam that have implemented ERP, our findings providestrong support for the predicted positive effect of perceived accounting benefits on enterprisesuccess, and for the hypothesis that this relationship is fully mediated by effective system use.This study is novel for two reasons. First, it is one of the first attempts to provide empiricalevidence that effective system use and enterprise success are valuable outcomes of accountingbenefits perceived to be gained from the use of ERP systems. Second, it discovers anddemonstrates that effective system use is the most appropriate system-use concept in thepresent enterprise systems-related context, a topic that remains under discussion in theliterature.

BACKGROUND Employee retention has been studied by researchers in relation to many factors. Cost of losing talented employees in much higher than recruiting and training the new ones. Past studies have shown abundant research and importance of chosen variables in different relationships. This study is unique in terms of studying the mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior and moderating role of communication in the selected model. OBJECTIVE This study investigates the impact of transformational leadership on employee retention in SMEs. Furthermore, this study examines the mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior and the moderating role of communication. METHODS Based on random sampling, 505 employees from SMEs were selected to response the constructed questionnaire. Smart PLS structured equation model (PLS-SEM) was used to estimate the various relationships. RESULTS The findings of the study reveal that there is a positive and significant relationship in transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. Similarly, this study found positive and significant relationship in organizational citizenship behavior and employee retention. In addition, organizational citizenship behavior had a positive mediating effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and employee retention. Furthermore, communication positively moderates transformational leadership, organizational citizenship employee retention relationships. CONCLUSIONS This study examines the mediation of organizational citizenship behavior and the moderation of communication which have been less studied in the literature. Findings revealed that transformational leadership and communication plays a significant role in relation of organizational citizenship behavior and employee retention. As such, management of SMEs need to pay particular attention to these variables, to retain employees for enhanced productivity and organizational growth.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the effect of perceived brand interactivity on customer purchases along with the mediating effect of perceived brand fairness. To increase the explanatory power of the model, this study also examines the moderating role of brand involvement. Design/methodology/approach An online survey was conducted to measure the constructs of interest. The direct, indirect (mediation) and conditional (moderation) effects were evaluated using linear regression, PROCESS Model 4 and PROCESS Model 59, respectively. Further, the Johnson Neyman (also called floodlight analysis) technique was used to probe the interaction terms. Findings The study results indicate that perceived brand interactivity directly and indirectly (via perceived brand fairness) impact customer purchases. The results also reveal that the positive impact of perceived brand interactivity on perceived brand fairness is greater when brand involvement is lower. In the same vein, the positive impact of perceived brand fairness on customer purchases is greater when brand involvement is lower. However, brand involvement does not moderate the impact of perceived brand involvement on customer purchases. Originality/value This study examines the effect of perceived brand interactivity on customer purchases (as a customer engagement behavior) while accounting for the mediating role of perceived brand fairness and the moderating role of brand involvement. The results provide noteworthy theoretical and managerial implications.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the mediating role of relational mobile usage on the relationship between personal values (individualism, collectivism and academic self-efficacy) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among the faculty members of higher education/degree-awarding institutes (DAIs) in Pakistan. The paper also examines the moderating role of gender on the relationship between relational mobile usage and OCB. Design/methodology/approach Cross-sectional data from 217 faculty members of higher education/DAIs in Pakistan were collected through an online questionnaire. Structural equation modeling technique using SmartPLS was used to assess the measurement and structural model. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 was used for data normality analysis, missing value analysis and variable calculation. Response and non-response bias were also examined. Findings The findings confirmed that individualism was not significantly related to relational mobile usage; however, collectivism and academic self-efficacy were significantly related to relational mobile usage. The relationship of relational mobile usage and OCB was also significant. The mediating role of relational mobile usage on the relationship between individualism and OCB was not significant; however, the mediating role of relational mobile usage between collectivism and OCB, and academic self-efficacy and OCB was significant. The moderating role of gender on the relationship between relational mobile usage and OCB was also significant. Practical implications DAIs’ administration should strive to encourage individuals to value group priorities over the individualistic interests. Valuing group interest over the individualistic interest would promote the usage of mobile technology for relational purpose. This relational perspective of mobile usage will ultimately develop OCB among individuals. Also, academic self-efficacy through relational mobile usage can lead to OCB; therefore, another important policy implication for the administration of DAIs is to develop academic self-efficacy among the stakeholders of the institutions. Originality/value Although OCB has become a theoretically mature concept, the framework proposed for this study has rarely been discussed in previous scholarships, particularly from the perspective of relational mobile usage. Arguably, this study is the first in testing the mediating role of relational mobile usage between the personal values and OCB within the context of academia in Pakistan.

PurposeUpholding congruency with conservation of resources (COR) theory, the study intends to analyze the impact of workplace bullying on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) via job satisfaction and resilience as parallel mediators in the Indian hospitality sector.Design/methodology/approachThe study used a data of 240 respondents working in the hospitality sector in India. Direct and indirect effects were assessed through statistical techniques such as structural equation modeling and mediation analysis (Preacher and Hayes, 2004) for hypotheses testing using SPSS and AMOS tools.FindingsThe findings of the study suggest the negative correlation between workplace bullying and OCB. This study demonstrates the role of job satisfaction and resilience as parallel mediators in combating the cascading ill effect of workplace bullying on OCB.Research limitations/implicationsThe results help India's hospitality sector to understand the intensity and impact of workplace bullying on job satisfaction and OCB.Originality/valueThis is the original and first study examining the role of workplace bullying on OCB via job satisfaction and resilience as parallel mediators in the non-Western context.
