Abstract With the formation of China’s large power grid, the security of the network is particularly important. The contaminant flashover of insulators has a serious impact on the operation safety of a high voltage power network. In this paper, the acoustic signals’ characteristics of the contaminant insulators flashover are analyzed, and, as a result, the correlation between the acoustic signal and the contaminant insulator flashover is established. To experiment with contaminant insulator for three different Equivalent Salt Deposit Densities (ESDD), acoustic signals were collected separately. Then, the contaminant insulators’ acoustic signals of flashover were analyzed by wavelet packet. The characteristics of the signals were obtained, and they can be judged for contaminant flashover warning.

Abstract As a component of the Internet of things, high-voltage cables are the power supply infrastructure for the modern development of cities. The operation experience shows that the high-voltage cable has been broken down many times, due to the defective operation. At present, due to the limitation of detection technology, the research on detection and identification of defects in high-voltage cables is progressing slowly. Therefore, a new DR technology based on X-ray digital imaging is proposed in this paper to realize real-time detection of defects in the semi-conductive buffer layer of high-voltage cables, and intelligent detection of DR images of high-voltage cables by using image depth processing technology to realize intelligent identification of defects in the buffer layer of power cables. The results show that using the new DR technique proposed in this paper, the accurate and intuitive DR image of high-voltage cable can be obtained quickly, and the intelligent identification of defects can be realized.

Targeted at the issue of extremely low-frequency (<100Hz) acoustic propagation in complex shallow elastic bottom environments. The influence law of different complex elastic bottoms on the acoustic signal propagation at very low frequency by acoustic energy flux has been analyzed with the simulation, which is based on the finite element method. The elastic bottoms which have been studied are the shallow horizontal elastic bottom, and the up-sloping and the down-sloping elastic bottom. The results show that the acoustic signal propagating in the up-sloping and down-sloping elastic bottom environments is more complex than that propagating in the horizontal elastic bottom, and the acoustic energy leaking into those elastic bottoms has very different influence on the acoustic signal propagation, especially in the up-sloping bottom.

GIS is the most important equipment in power grid. Partial discharge is the main cause leading to insulation breakdown. UHF detection is an effective method for PD detection in GIS. It is significant to obtain the electromagnetic propagation characteristics for the accurate analysis of detection results. The FDTD algorithm is present in this paper to study the electromagnetic signal in GIS. The amplitude and frequency characteristics are studied in this paper.
