This paper proposes the use of a signal acquisition and processing system based on an8×8planar array of MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems) microphones to obtain acoustic images of a fan matrix. A3×3matrix of PC fans has been implemented to perform the study. Some tests to obtain the acoustic images of the individual fans and of the whole matrix have been defined and have been carried out inside an anechoic chamber. The nonstationary signals received by each MEMS microphone and their corresponding spectra have been analyzed, as well as the corresponding acoustic images. The analysis of the acoustic signals spectra reveals the resonance frequency of the individual fans. The obtained results reveal the feasibility of the proposed system to obtained acoustic images of a fan matrix and of its individual fans, in this last case, in order to estimate the real position of the fan inside the matrix.

The present paper reports an investigation into the effect of bending and torsional vibrations on the torsional angle measurements given by an optical laser torquemeter, already described at the ICEM12 (2004). The aim was to demonstrate that vibrations present do not have an excessive effect on the torque measurements, due to the intrinsic operating characteristics of the torquemeter. In order to render the device able to detect such vibrations, its structure and the signal acquisition and processing system were modified. High magnitude vibrations, found only rarely in a common rotating system, were then generated artificially.

This research aims at the problem in the vibration signal monitoring area that few of systems based on wireless sensing technology are developed to deal with the problem of vibration specially. The paper presents a system based on wireless acceleration transducer network, which integrated the function of vibrating signal acquisition and processing. The system is tested in vibration bench. The operation of the system is simple and intuitive. Researchers could achieve the operation of collecting and analyzing signal, setting the parameter of the sensor nodes and monitoring the state of the network. The presented system provides users friendly interface to make it easy to do some researches about vibration signal acquisition, processing and analysis. Additionally, the system provides some program interfaces, with which users can easily do secondary development work and perfect the system.

This paper proposes new approaches for designing a bipolar DS acquisition system to reduce the harm of external factors on equipment, as well as fulfill system requirements at the veracity and reliability of the equipment to quickly connect. The design method chosen is ACPL-224 for chip of the interface about data acquisition on the FPGA device, including system principle, interface circuit logic, the method of data processing, and so forth. Now that this method has been applied, it has achieved good results, including extending the system’s adaptive range of external signal and enhancing the efficiency of the interface to quickly connect.
