Home automation is an automated system created specifically to facilitate the work of humans, especially at home. Home Automation connects electronic devices to each other in a home that is integrated using the internet network and allows it to be controlled via android smartphone and web client (server). On android smartphone installed applications that have been connected with Arduino microcontroller and Ethernet shield. In this research for controlling or retrieving data via Ethernet network the easiest is Arduino serve as server and we can request and arrange data through web client or android application then data will be sent using protocol User Datagram Protocol (UDP). So to control the electronic devices can be done from a considerable distance as long as connected to the internet.

This paper proposes an advanced intelligent home automation system to control the mainhome functions such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, shading, lighting, security and food’spreparation. The proposed system designed to detect motion or fire and to make decisionsindependently. Information about motion, heating, and lightning were collected from three nodes usingspecial sensors that micro-controlled through Arduino with WIFI shield and Xbee to be sent to theSmart Phone for manipulation through Java-based Android application. Delta Learning Rule algorithmwas used for decisions making as it is able to distinguish whether it is a dangerous situation or not.Furthermore, the proposed system has a property of generating an alert signal and sends it to the policeor fire station through GMS messages.

Several home automation systems have been rapidly introduced in the recent years. However, the consumer adoption of home automation systems has been immensely slow. Moreover, most home automation systems available in the market are designed for western countries and do not have certain features that are crucial for consumers in tropical countries like Malaysia. Therefore, this paper identifies the possible criteria for this slow adoption and evaluates the potential of Intel Galileo for addressing these problems. Four popular home automation technologies are analysed and surveys are conducted to identify the needs of electricity and water consumers in Malaysia. A low cost, secure, user-friendly, easily installed and flexible Intel Galileo based home automation system that caters the needs of Malaysians is presented. The system is integrated with an Android application and uses a Wi-Fi network. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system, the design and prototype implementation of a basic home automation system based on the Intel Galileo is developed and evaluated based on several tests and interviews. The proposed system can be used as a reference to increase consumer adoption of home automation systems in tropical countries.

This paper reviews basically about Bluetooth based home automation system. It is controlled by PIC microcontroller. Home automation can be defined as the ability to perform tasks automatically and monitor or change status remotely. These include tasks such as turning off lights in the room, locking doors via smartphone, automate air condition systems and appliances which help in the kitchen. Now a days several wireless devices are available such as Bluetooth, Zigbee and GSM. Since Bluetooth is low in cost than the other two and hence is used more. In this paper we have described the methods of automating different home appliances using Bluetooth and pic microcontroller. Different sensors are involved in this system to advance and make it smarter. Sensors such as temperature sensor, liquid sensors, humidity sensor etc. can be used.

The purpose of this research is to design home automation system that can be controlled using voice commands. This research was conducted by studying other research related to the topics in this research, discussing with competent parties, designing systems, testing systems, and conducting analyzes based on tests that have been done. In this research voice recognition system was designed using Deep Learning Convolutional Neural Networks (DL-CNN). The CNN model that has been designed will then be trained to recognize several kinds of voice commands. The result of this research is a speech recognition system that can be used to control several electronic devices connected to the system. The speech recognition system in this research has a 100% success rate in room conditions with background intensity of 24dB (silent), 67.67% in room conditions with 42dB background noise intensity, and only 51.67% in room conditions with background intensity noise 52dB (noisy). The percentage of the success of the speech recognition system in this research is strongly influenced by the intensity of background noise in a room. Therefore, to obtain optimal results, the speech recognition system in this research is more suitable for use in rooms with low intensity background noise.

Home automation has achieved a lot of popularity in recent years, as day-to-day life is getting simpler due to the rapid growth of technology. Almost everything has become digitalized and automatic. In this paper, a system for interconnecting sensors, actuators, and other data sources with the purpose of multiple home automations is proposed. The system is called qToggle and works by leveraging the power of a flexible and powerful Application Programming Interface (API), which represents the foundation of a simple and common communication scheme. The devices used by qToggle are usually sensors or actuators with an upstream network connection implementing the qToggle API. Most devices used by qToggle are based on ESP8266/ESP8285 chips and/or on Raspberry Pi boards. A smartphone application has been developed that allows users to control a series of home appliances and sensors. The qToggle system is user friendly, flexible, and can be further developed by using different devices and add-ons.
