The paper introduces a method for connecting fabricated shear wall with beam in a plane by sleeve, and uses the finite element software to analyze and compare the seismic performance of precast wall beams node and cast wall beam node. It concluded:Seismic performance of prefabricated wall beam node and cast wall beam node are basically the same , while the prefabricated wall beam node has higher strength, which indicates that the connection of precast specimen is reliable. However, before putting it into practical, application, further study on it is still necessary.

The quality of precast concrete (PC) component connections is one of the main factors that affect the seismic reliability of PC structures. China is developing PC structures in high seismic regions, and it is important to assess the effect of connection deficiency on seismic performance of PC structures. This paper presents a comprehensive method to assess the seismic reliability of PC shear wall-frame structure whose wall panels are assembled through grouted sleeve connections which are susceptible to insufficient grouting. Considering the uncertainties associated with the number, locations and loading behavior of defected sleeve connections, the probabilistic behavior of PC shear wall with defected connections is estimated through point estimate method using simulation results of the experiment-validated finite element model. Then, a simple shear wall-frame building, designed for the seismic intensity of 8 according to China’s seismic design code, is modeled on platform of OpenSees. Static pushover analyses and seismic fragility analyses are performed on the structure with different degrees of connection deficiency, to investigate the effect of deficiency occurrence rate on seismic performance. The seismic performance is significantly affected by connection deficiencies; it no longer meets the requirement of seismic design as the deficiency occurrence rate exceeds 25%, so the occurrence rate of defected connections should be controlled carefully in construction site.

To improve the seismic performance and seismic reliability of precast concrete shear wall (PCSW) structure with improved assembly horizontal wall connections (AHW connections), base isolation technology was proposed to be applied in the PCSW structure. Two 1/4-scaled structure models using the improved AHW connections were constructed: a lead-rubber bearing (LRB) base-isolated PCSW structure model and a base-fixed PCSW structure model. Shaking table tests were conducted on these two models with three strong ground motions to assess the seismic performance of the structures. It was found that the improved AHW connections in the base-isolated PCSW structure are useful and effective and that they fulfil the requirements to be met by the connections to withstand an earthquake. In addition, the maximum absolute acceleration and base shear force of the base-isolated PCSW structure model were less than those of the base-fixed PCSW structure model, and the isolation effect on the absolute acceleration responses and base shear responses increased with increase in the intensity of ground motions. In a word, the seismic performance and seismic reliability of PCSW structures can be effectively improved using base isolation technology. After this investigation, the seismic responses of the base-isolated PCSW structure model were numerically simulated using OpenSees software. There was a reasonable agreement between the numerically simulated results and test results; thus, the numerical simulation method and analysis model used for the base-isolated PCSW structure model were verified.
