In the actual study, we carried out a reliability analysis of a repairable redundant data transmission system with the use of the elaborated mathematical and simulation model of a closed heterogeneous cold standby system. The system consists of one repair unit and two different data sources with an exponential cumulative distribution function (CDF) of their uptime and a general independent CDF of their repair time. We consider five special cases of the general independent CDF; including Gamma, Weibull-Gnedenko, Exponential, Lognormal and Pareto. We study the system-level reliability, defined as the steady-state probability (SSP) of failure-free system operation. The proposed analytical methodology made it possible to assess the reliability of the whole system in the event of failure of its components. Specific analytic expressions and asymptotic valuations are obtained for the steady-state probabilities of the system and the SSP of failure-free system operation. A simulation model of the system in cases where it is not workable to obtain expressions for the steady-state probabilities of the system in an explicit analytical form was considered, in particular for constructing the empirical system reliability function. The issue of sensitivity analysis of reliability characteristics of the considered system to the types of repair time distributions was also studied. The simulation modeling was done with the R statistics package.

<div>Corrective transmission system operation can help integrate more renewable energy sources and save redispatch costs by providing a higher utilization of the power grid.</div><div>However, reliable and fast provision of flexibility are key to achieve corrective operation. <br></div><div>This work develops a new method to determine if flexibility from distribution grids is available on transmission corridors when needed. An analysis of the German energy system in the year 2030 is performed to estimate the potential of different flexibility options and shows the potential flexibility distribution systems can contribute to a corrective transmission system operation.<br> </div>

<span>The advancement of Distributed Generation (DG) technologies have caused great impact to power system operation. Inappropriate installation of DGs may lead to over-compensation or under-compensation situation. Thus, a reliable optimization is urgent to avoid any unwanted effect. This paper analyses the installation impact of different types-multi-DGs determined using a pre-developed hybrid optimization technique termed as Immunized-Brainstorm-Evolutionary Programming (IBSEP). It is imperative to study the effect of multi-DGs installation such that a relevant utility can make a correct decision, whether its installation is worth or vice versa. Rigorous study has been conducted in terms of identifying the optimal location and sizing, installed on transmission system for voltage control involving different DG types. Comprehensive results are embedded in this paper to demonstrate the effect of multi-DGs installation in transmission system which in turns beneficial to the utility.</span>

The paper presents simulation results of transients during the power system restoration. The Defence plan and Restoration plan development is a part of transmission system operator’s responsibilities and requires thorough calculations, simulations and publication of instructions. The plans focus on extensive failures that have a heavy impact on the system operation and could lead to a blackout. The Restoration plan of power system has to contain procedures for start-up without outside help. TSO regularly checks some part of the Restoration plan.
