Nowadays, virtual enterprise (VE) is a crucial paradigm of business management in an agile environment. VE exists in both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of each enterprise in a VE may vary greatly from industry to industry. Obviously, there is a need for a mechanism through which these different functions can be integrated together transparently. In this contribution, we focus on the negotiation process in VE formulation as a basic research to clarify its effective management in terms of partner search. Each enterprise in VE is defined as an agent with multiutilities, and a framework of multiagent programming with game theoretic approach is newly proposed as a negotiation algorithm among the agents. Each unit is defined as an agent in our VE model, and their decision making is formulated as a game theoretic methodology. We develop a computer simulation model to form VEs through multiple negotiations among several potential members in the negotiation domain, and finally clarify the formulation dynamism with the negotiation process.

With the rapid development of network and information technologies, more and more high-tech enterprises form the alliance of virtual enterprise to advance the competing capacity in the market, but how to improve the running efficiency of virtual enterprise with dynamic features is a very difficult problem. The paper analyzes the organization and operating features of the high-tech virtual enterprise, then presents a new modeling method based on mobile agents for management and running of high-tech virtual enterprise, which can be helpful for the development of it.

Traditional enterprise information systems have many defects, so business process management (BPM) system was applied to the virtual enterprise and virtual enterprise process model is established based on BPM system. The dominant enterprise and the member enterprises used BPM system for their own information management system in the virtual enterprise. The BPM system model of the virtual enterprise was divided into the formation process and the operation process. The analysis method based on stochastic colored Petri net(SCPN) was also presented which can be used to model and analyze the process model in order to obtain the system performance analysis data. The virtual enterprise resources utilization rate can be seen. The model extends the application area of BPM system and provides a reference for the construction and management of virtual enterprise.

There is a growing recognition that current manufacturing enterprises must be agile, and the use of virtual enterprise (VE) is becoming increasingly prevalent in recent years. It is a very important and difficult activity in forming a virtual enterprise to select appropriate business partners, because each enterprise considers not only pursuing its profit but also sharing the risk to join the virtual enterprise. At first we propose a VE coalition algorithm based on multi-agent paradigm. Then we develop a computer simulation model to evaluate the proposed method by forming a virtual enterprise through multiple negotiations amongst several potential members in the negotiation domain. Finally, we clarify the coalition dynamism with the negotiation process. The effectiveness of the proposed concept in the agile manufacturing is discussed with several simulation experiments.
