Power distribution network in Iraq still suffers from significant problems regarding electricity distribution level. The most important problem is the disturbances that are occurring on lines voltages, which in turn, will negatively affect sensitive loads they feed on. Protection of these loads could be achieved efficiently and economically using the dynamic voltage restorer DVR when installed between the voltage source and load to inject required compensation voltage to the network during the disturbances period. The DVR mitigates these disturbances via restoring the load voltage to a pre-fault value within a few milliseconds. To control the DVR work, dq0 transformation concept and PID method with sinusoidal pulse-width modulation SPWM based converter had been used to correct the disturbances and thus enhance the power quality of the distribution network. The DVR performance was tested by MATLAB/Simulink with all kinds of expected voltage disturbances and results investigated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Recently the wind power generation has attracted special interest and many wind power stations are being in service in the world. In the wind turbine that mostly uses induction generators, tend to drain large amounts of Vars from the grid, potentially causing low voltage and may be voltage stability problems for the utility owner, especially in the case of large load variation on distribution feeder. Voltage-source converter based various FACTS devices have been used for flexible power flow control, secure loading and damping of power system oscillations. Some of those are used also to improve transient and dynamic stability of the wind power generation (WPGS).

This paper focuses on a solar PV array based BLDC motor employing Landsman converter under partial shading condition (PSC). A converter acts as an interface between the SPV array under PSC and Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) feeding the Brushless DC (BLDC) motor. BLDC motor incorporating the merits of higher efficiency, high reliability, high ruggedness, easy-to-drive, capability to operate successfully at low voltage and excellent performance over a wide range of speed. The speed control of BLDC motor by variable DC-link voltage. This eliminates the additional phase current sensing, DC-link voltage sensing, additional control and associated circuitry. The proposed system includes simplicity control, compactness, and soft starting of the BLDC motor. The operation of Landsman converter in CCM results reduced stress on devices. To optimize the operating point of the SPV array in order to get maximum possible power output by means of the better maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique. The technique is Bumble Bee Mating Optimization (BBMO) based MPPT. The novel technique is compared to the conventional techniques. The simulated results are executed in MATLAB/SIMULINK.
