How to eliminate the influence of network storm produced by GOOSE messages on equipment of process level is an important task to smart substation. Both valid and invalid GOOSE messages transmitted in process levelare likely to lead to the network storm. At first, the reason that causes network storm in smart substation is analyzed in this paper. Then three kinds of filtering methods are given: Real-time matching method with creating a buffer, the method of cutting off the storm network and abnormal packets discarded method, In the end, the first method is verified on the intelligent terminal.

Currently, VLAN technology in engineering practice of smart substation has become mature, but due to the limitation of device support and simulation technology, the system implementation scheme based on GMRP has few mature case studies can be carried out. Through the study of IEC61850 standard, the special simulation system of substation simulation based on discrete event simulation technique is designed and implemented. Finally, the completed of the simulation of data transmission in smart substation and the simulation analysis based on GMRP, proves that the use of GMRP protocols in data transmission is feasible.

The existence of a large number of multicast flooding data in the process level of smart substation,causes serious influence on the real-time performance and reliability of network.Through the exchange principle of Ethernet,the forwarding process of second-layer multicast in network is introduced. Combined with the application in intelligent substation and some experimental data, through in-depth analysis of the 802.1Q VLAN isolating broadcast domain,setting static multicast to change the static MAC address table ,and GMRP to change the multicast information on Ethernet switch through the interactive protocol data, the multicast flooding suppression method is illustrated. And based on the practical engineering situation, the three kinds of methods are compared from the characteristics of debugging operation and maintenance convenience and reliability of intelligent equipment,then the technology route recommendation is given.
