In this article, we present TightCap, a data-driven scheme to capture both the human shape and dressed garments accurately with only a single three-dimensional (3D) human scan, which enables numerous applications such as virtual try-on, biometrics, and body evaluation. To break the severe variations of the human poses and garments, we propose to model the clothing tightness field—the displacements from the garments to the human shape implicitly in the global UV texturing domain. To this end, we utilize an enhanced statistical human template and an effective multi-stage alignment scheme to map the 3D scan into a hybrid 2D geometry image. Based on this 2D representation, we propose a novel framework to predict clothing tightness field via a novel tightness formulation, as well as an effective optimization scheme to further reconstruct multi-layer human shape and garments under various clothing categories and human postures. We further propose a new clothing tightness dataset of human scans with a large variety of clothing styles, poses, and corresponding ground-truth human shapes to stimulate further research. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our TightCap to achieve the high-quality human shape and dressed garments reconstruction, as well as the further applications for clothing segmentation, retargeting, and animation.

The sandwich structure with foldcore is a new type of structural material with light weight, high specific strength, high specific rigidity and multi-functional potential, which is connected with each other in core space, this kind of three dimensional structures can be formed by folding based on two dimensional materials. The main research achievements and characteristics of sandwich structure with foldcore in recent years are summarized and analyzed according to the lightweight and multi-functional requirements of aircraft structure in this paper. The configuration optimization scheme and fabrication process of the sandwich structure with foldcore are described. Moreover, the research status of multi-function of the sandwich structure with foldcore are summarized, including sound insulation, thermal protection, stealth performance of the structure, etc.

In this paper, in order to reduce the influence of vibration and noise generated by the motor in rock cotton centrifuges on the quality of the output fiber and the damage to the operator’s hearing, it is meaningful to analyze and optimize the vibration and noise. A high-speed magnetic suspension motor is proposed for the rock cotton centrifuge in the paper. First, the motor model is established in Maxwell, the radial force density wave distributed in the air gap is calculated by the field solver, the main harmonic source is analyzed according to its FFT decomposition graph, and then the optimization scheme of short-range double-layer winding is determined. Second, the optimization scheme is analyzed in modal mode and harmonious response, and the vibration response spectrum of the motor stator is obtained. Finally, the electromagnetic noise characteristics of the motor are obtained through ANSYS acoustics simulation. The results show that the optimized motor noise has a reasonable level under the premise of ensuring electromagnetic performance.

Abstract The roller worm gear drives have been widely adopted in numerous industrial applications such as robot joint reducer, heavy-duty production line. This study is to improve the performance of a roller gear drive by utilizing an iterative optimization scheme to improve the tooth profile of the hourglass worm gear in the roller gear drive. Dedicated design of the variable-pitch slot on the hourglass worm gear can remedy the power efficiency of the roller gear drive by enhancing the contact ratio dramatically. This research showed that the roller gear drive is a better mechanism for the high reduction ratio reducers. The CAD design and performance analysis of a roller gear drive by SolidWorks have provided the engineers an optimizing methodology.

The paper presents a numerical procedure of estimating the sequestration capacity of an underground geological structure as a potential sequestration site. The procedure adopts a reservoir simulation model of the structure and performs multiple simulation runs of the sequestration process on the model according to a pre-defined optimization scheme. It aims at finding the optimum injection schedule for existing and/or planned injection wells. Constraints to be met for identifying the sequestration capacity of the structure include a no-leakage operation for an elongated period of the sequestration performance that contains a relaxation phase in addition to the injection one. The leakage risk analysis includes three basic leakage pathways: leakage to the overburden of a storage formation, leakage beyond the structural trap boundary, leakage via induced fractures. The procedure is implemented as a dedicated script of the broadly used Petrel package and tested on an example of a synthetic geologic structure. The script performs all the tasks of the procedure flowchart including: input data definitions, simulation model initialization, iteration loops control, simulation launching, simulation results processing and analysis. Results of the procedure are discussed in detail with focus put on various leakage mechanisms and their handling in the adopted scheme. The overall results of the proposed procedure seem to confirm its usefulness and effectiveness as a numerical tool to facilitate estimation of the sequestration capacity of an underground geological structure. In addition, by studying details of the procedure runs and its intermediate results, it may be also very useful for the estimation of various leakage risks.
