This paper proposes an optimal strategy to parallelize the solution of large 3D magneto-quasi-static (MQS) problems, by combining the MPI and OpenMP approaches. The studied numerical problem comes from a weak-form integral formulation of a MQS problem and is finally cast in terms of a large linear system to be solved by means of a direct method. For this purpose, two main tasks are identified: the assembly and the inversion of the matrices. The paper focuses on the optimization of the resources required for assembling the matrices, by exploiting the feature of a hybrid OpenMP–MPI approach. Specifically, the job is shared between clusters of nodes in parallel by adopting an OpenMP paradigm at the node level and a MPI one at the process level between nodes. Compared with other solutions, such as pure MPI, this hybrid parallelization optimizes the available resources, with respect to the speed, allocated memory, and the communication between nodes. These advantages are clearly observed in the case studies analyzed in this paper, coming from the study of large plasma fusion machines, such as the fusion reactor ITER. Indeed, the MQS problems associated with such applications are characterized by a huge computational cost that requires parallel computing approaches.

Digital transformation is now impacting businesses in both the developed and developing worlds, and this chapter examines this phenomenon in the small business sector in Nigeria. Adopting an interpretivist philosophy, the methodology combines a survey of small business enterprises (SBEs) with in-depth case studies of three Nigerian companies. Ten critical influencing factors are identified, and a model (Engage-Deploy-Exploit-Transform – EDET) is developed and applied to the case studies to assess the status of digital transformation. The influencing factors provide a checklist for SBEs embarking on digital transformation projects, and the model can be used to assess progress and identify new opportunities for digital transformation at the business process level. The authors believe this to be a useful contribution to the growing literature in this field that can be used by both researchers and practitioners in similar developing-world contexts.

(1) Background: This study is aimed at determining the strengthening process level, the learning organization level, and the indicator of change level among District Education Offices (PPDs’). This study aims to investigate the perceptions of the Head of District Education Officers and their use of change indicators in enhancing District Education Offices and their learning organization practices. (2) Methods: By using a mixed-method approach through an explanatory sequential design, a survey was conducted and 93 Head of District Education Officers throughout Malaysia were selected using the survey method through questionnaire. To identify the respondents, the study employed group sampling and strata random sampling techniques and the data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences software. Then, the qualitative study involved five Head of District Education Officers and two Program Managers who were chosen through purposive and snowball sampling. Through semi-structured interviews, data were then collected, and themes were formulated and analyzed using Nvivo 11. (3) Results: The results of the descriptive analysis show that the strengthening process level, the learning organization level, and the change indicator level in the District Education Office, are all high. Thus, the research findings illuminate six theme of change indicators, i.e., namely, Head of District Education Officers Roles and Responsibilities, Program Manager Roles and Responsibilities, School Improvement Partner+ (SIP+) Roles and Responsibilities and School Improvement Specialist Coaches+ (SISC+) Roles and Responsibilities, Performance Dialogue, Provision Management, Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Dashboard and PPD Excellence Rating. (4) Conclusions: This study offers insights into how the PPDs’ can utilize, as a reference for monitoring, the implemented changes in the District Transformation Program, to see if they are on the right track, and also as treatment to deal with any conflicts or issues in the transformational programme.

The objective of the research carried out was to determine the effect of the Bloomfield program on the competences of English as a foreign language in the students of a language center-2020. The research had an applied study, experimental design and a quasi-experimental class. The sample was non-probabilistic, in which a pre-test and post-test of level A1 were applied within the Common European Framework of References. The total population was 317, and the selected sample of 174 students. The results were tabulated from the collection of test results. Then the results in the post test showed that 100% were at the beginning level, 0% achieved, and 0% outstanding. On the other hand, the post test showed that 0% in the beginning, 1% in the process level, and 99% in the outstanding level in the competence of English as a foreign language. Concluding in this way that the applied program significantly improves the competences of English as a foreign language in Peruvian students in Bloomfield Idiomas, 2020.

Although minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) is a less invasive procedure, internal thoracic artery (ITA) harvesting is difficult. A 65-year-old woman was advised to undergo MIDCAB for recurrent in-stent restenosis. We harvested the ITA using three-dimensional endoscopy without robotics and determined the scope position using enhanced computed tomography. We changed the camera installation between the wound and the camera port, according to the harvesting site with a harmonic scalpel using the skeletonized technique. We harvested the ITA from the subclavian vein level superiorly to the xyphoid process level inferiorly.

In memoriam Christophe HalsbergheIn this article, I will show how the description of meaning in translated texts can be enriched by combining insights from semiotic linguistics and narratology. Concretely, I will focus on the phenomenon of ‘grounding’ as it is described in Cognitive Grammar. Special attention will be paid to ‘ob-jective grounding’. I will claim that this phenomenon plays a central role in essayistic translation, as it reflects one of the core characteristics of this type of translation, i.e. the search for similarity. The analysis of objective grounding will allow us to develop this notion, describing similarity at product level but also at the communicative process level. In the final sec-tion, I will try to link the search for similarity with psychological notions such as empathy and anxiety.

Abstract

The Open University (UT) teaching material service implements the Information System for Learning Materials and Transactions (SITTA) which in the process encountered problems related to the operation and optimization of Information Technology. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate to determine the extent to which the system has met the needs of the IT governance organization. The SITTA system had never been evaluated before using an information system audit control mechanism with the COBIT 5 framework. This study aims to measure the level of SITTA IT governance capabilities using the COBIT 5 framework. The focus of evaluation on the system is related to IT service management so it was agreed to evaluate the domain of the EDM01, EDM04, DSS01, DSS02, and DSS03 processes. The results showed that the capabilities of the EDM01, EDM04, and DSS01 processes are currently at the performed process level (level 1), while the DSS02 and DSS03 processes are at the managed process level (level 2). The achievement of the capability level is expected by management for the process being evaluated is the optimizing process level (level 5). It can be shown that the organization has not fully implemented some best practices for the process being evaluated, even there are already IT governance service standards but it has not been implemented optimally. The recommendations for IT service governance policy activities obtained from this study are expected to become a reference for monitoring procedures and measuring IT capabilities in UT teaching material services that are more effective and implemented. This research produces measurement of IT process capability level in selected COBIT 5 domains, analysis of organizational conditions to achieve process capability level, improvement priority criteria, and recommendations for improvement for each process to achieve optimizing process capability level (level 5) in the near future.
