Let H(μ, θ) be the hyperplane in Rn (n ≥ 2) that is perpendicular to the unit vector 6 and perpendicular distance μ from the origin; that is, H(μ, θ) = (x ∈ Rn: x. θ = μ). (Note that H(μ, θ) and H(−μ, −θ) are the same hyperplanes.) Let X be a proper compact convex subset of Rm. If f(x) ∈ L1(X) we will denote by F(μ, θ) the projection of f perpendicular to θ; that is, the integral of f(x) over H(μ, θ) with respect to (n − 1)-dimensional Lebesgue measure. By Fubini's Theorem, if f(x) ∈ L1(X), F(μ, θ) exists for almost all μ for every θ. Our aim in this paper is, given a finite collection of unit vectors θ1, …, θN, to characterize the F(μ, θi) that are the projections of some function f(x) with support in X for 1 ≤ i ≤ N.

AbstractIn this paper we give a complete description of diameter-preserving linear bijections on the space of affine continuous functions on a compact convex set whose extreme points are split faces. We also give a description of such maps on function algebras considered on their maximal ideal space. We formulate and prove similar results for spaces of vector-valued functions.

A set-valued analog of the elementary renewal theorem for Minkowski sums of random closed sets is considered. The corresponding renewal function is defined as where are Minkowski (element-wise) sums of i.i.d. random compact convex sets. In this paper we determine the limit of H(tK)/t as t tends to infinity. For K containing the origin as an interior point, where hK(u) is the support function of K and is the set of all unit vectors u with EhA(u) > 0. Other set-valued generalizations of the renewal function are also suggested.

AbstractLet {n\geq 2} be an integer, {P=\mathrm{diag}(-I_{n-\kappa},I_{\kappa},-I_{n-\kappa},I_{\kappa})} for some integer {\kappa\in[0,n]}, and let {\Sigma\subset{\mathbb{R}}^{2n}} be a partially symmetric compact convex hypersurface, i.e., {x\in\Sigma} implies {Px\in\Sigma}, and {(r,R)}-pinched. In this paper, we prove that when {{R/r}<\sqrt{5/3}} and {0\leq\kappa\leq[\frac{n-1}{2}]}, there exist at least {E(\frac{n-2\kappa-1}{2})+E(\frac{n-2\kappa-1}{3})} non-hyperbolic P-invariant closed characteristics on Σ. In addition, when {{R/r}<\sqrt{3/2}}, {[\frac{n+1}{2}]\leq\kappa\leq n} and Σ carries exactly nP-invariant closed characteristics, then there exist at least {2E(\frac{2\kappa-n-1}{4})+E(\frac{n-\kappa-1}{3})} non-hyperbolic P-invariant closed characteristics on Σ, where the function {E(a)} is defined as {E(a)=\min{\{k\in{\mathbb{Z}}\mid k\geq a\}}} for any {a\in\mathbb{R}}.

For certain stationary random setsX, densitiesDφ(X) of additive functionalsφare defined and formulas forare derived whenKis a compact convex set in. In particular, for the quermassintegrals and motioninvariantX, these formulas are in analogy with classical integral geometric formulas. The case whereXis the union set of a Poisson processYof convex particles is considered separately. Here, formulas involving the intensity measure ofYare obtained.
