First record of the genus Punicodoxa (Acari: Microdispidae) from Asia, with description of a new species phoretic on termites (Insecta: Isoptera)

A new species of the genus Punicodoxa Mahunka, 1978 (Acari: Prostigmata: Microdispidae) is described and illustrated from Southwestern Iran: Punicodoxa termitophila Azhari and Hajiqanbar sp. nov., discovered from a termite Anacanthotermes sp. (Isoptera: Hodotermitidae). This species is the second representative of the genus Punicodoxa which is the first record of the genus form Asia. Furthermore, phoretic association between mites of the family Microdispidae and termites of the family Hodotermitidae, and also phoresy on insects in the genus Punicodoxa are reported for the first time.

A new species of dune cricket in the family Schizodactylidae, Schizodactylus salweenensis sp. nov. is described from Salween River, Mae Hong Son Province, northwestern Thailand based on both males and females. The Schizodactylidae is recorded for the first time in Thailand. The new species is most similar to Schizodactylus tuberculatus Ander, 1938 and Schizodactylus burmanus Uvarov, 1935 in the morphology of male subgenital plate, but mainly differs in the shape of subgenital plate apex, and the spurs of hind tibiae. The type series was collected from sand dunes along the river. This cricket reaches adulthood during the rainy season.

A new species of the genus Cypselosoma Hendel is described, in both the adult and immature stages. This constitutes the first record of the family Cypselosomatidae in Australia. Notes on the family, generic, and specific characters are given with keys to aid identification. The ecology of the new species is discussed and some adaptions necessary to survival in its environment are pointed out. The known distribution of the cypselosomatid genera Cypselosoma and Formicosepsis is given, and the latter recorded from New Guinea for the first time. The relationships of the families Micropezidae and Neriidae are discussed in the light of knowledge gained from the more primitive Cypselosomatidae. It is concluded that the superfamily Micropezoidea should include the following families : Pseudopomyzidae, Cypselosomatidae, Neriidae, Micropezidae, and Megamerinidae. Protoborborus Malloch and Heluscolia Harrison are mentioned as new synonyms of Pseudopomyza Strobl. The genus Heloclusia Malloch is transferred from the Heleomyzidae to the Pseudopomyzidae.

The family Dryadaulidae Bradley is reported from Korea for the first time. In addition, a new species, Dryadaula koreana Roh & Byun, sp. nov. is described. All available information, including the collecting localities and illustrations of adults and genitalia are provided.

The subfamily Beridinae of the family Stratiomyidae contains about 280 known species globally, and distributed all over the biogeographical areas except polar region. In the Korean peninsula, the species diversity of this subfamily has been poorly known so far, in accordance with National species list of Korea by National Institue of Biological Resources. In this paper, the soldier fly genus Beris Latreille is reported for the first time from Korea based on following three species: B. fuscipes Meigen, B. hirotui Ôuchi, and B. tigris Lee and Suh, sp. nov. Among them, B. tigris Lee and Suh, sp. nov. was confirmed to be newly discovered. Consequently, three species within this genus have been identified from the Korean peninsula. The identification key, description, external photographs, and taxonomic notes of these Korean species are presented herein.

The little-known bee genus Bathanthidium Mavromoustakis, 1953 of the family Megachilidae is reported for the first time from Vietnam. A new species, Bathanthidium (Bathanthidium s. str.) paco Tran & Nguyen, sp. nov. from Hoa Binh province is described and illustrated. A nest of the new species is reported from a wooden house. An updated identification key to all known species of the subgenus Bathanthidium s. str. is also provided.

The family Stephanidae (Hymenoptera: Stephanoidea) is recorded for the first time from Saudi Arabia. It is represented by two species belonging to the genus Foenatopus, F. bisignatus Aguiar & Jennings, 2010 and F. cf. turcomanorum (Semenov, 1891). A new species, Profoenatopus bimaculatus sp. nov. from Asir region is also described and illustrated.

An undescribed entoniscid isopod was found to parasitize Monomia haani, a common portunid crab in Khanh Hoa province of Vietnam. The new species is the eighth in the genus Cancrion, the second species of Cancrion found parasitizing hosts in the family Portunidae, and the first member of the family Entoniscidae to be described from southeast Asia. The cryptoniscius larva of a species of Cancrion is described for the first time. The new entoniscid infests hosts with a prevalence of 10.1% and intensity of 1 or 2 females per host. A new family, genus and species of cryptoniscoid hyperparasite with novel female and cryptoniscus body morphology is also described; this is the first record of a hyperparasite found infesting an entoniscid isopod. The purported cryptoniscus larva of Tiarinion texopallium Shields & Ward, 1998 is shown to be that of a hyperparasitic cryptoniscoid isopod closely allied to the new Vietnamese hyperparasite and is described as a new species belonging to the new family and genus.

The family Styloperlidae is reported from Shaanxi Province of northwestern China for the first time with the description of a new species of the genus Cerconychia, C. trilobata sp. nov. The relationships based on morphological characteristics of the new species and related species are discussed.

A new species of fossil dragonfly, Proinogomphus kreuzerorum sp. nov. (Liassogomphidae), is described from the Early Jurassic black shale of Bascharage in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, based on a very well-preserved isolated female hind wing. This genus was previously only known from the Liassic of Braunschweig region in Germany, and is here recorded for the first time for this fossil locality. The classification of the family Liassogomphidae Tillyard, 1935 and the genus Proinogomphus Cowley, 1942 is briefly discussed and the diagnosis of the latter is emended.
