Verification of each dimension in time and in quality is a problem that can have serious effects over the production rate and the costs of each company. Machine vision it can be defined as machines with their own set of eyes. Using their vision, machines inspect products for defects by detecting the presence or absence of parts, taking measurements, reading codes, etc. In this paper is presented an alternative solution to verify the dimensions and position or presence of the assembly parts according to each specification and the measuring capabilities for the video equipment used in the practical example in order to decide how suitable the video equipment is for serial production and influences over the quality measurement and quality control.

Abstract This paper describes a machine vision system for inspecting hydraulic hose assemblies. At present the inspection in this industry is done manually and is prone to human error. A specially designed hose gripping mechanism, a mandrel system, and a camera and lighting fixture allows the system to be integrated on a shop floor and is able to inspect various parameters of a fitting. The system allows the inspection to be done more accurately and improves the quality control process.
