The paper brings to the fore the need for state support by making investments in railway infrastructure, in order to maintain and ensure the success of railway transport of trucks by introducing RO-LA transport in rail traffic. Using this mode of transport reduces the cost of maintaining road infrastructure, protects the environment, reduces fuel consumption, and reduces road traffic congestionRO-LA transport is an alternative solution to auto transport and contributes to the streamlining of traffic of goods and people.

An optical fiber tip sensor based on a Fabry–Perot interferometer is proposed for the detection of ethanol in the gas phase. The sensor is fabricated by fusion splicing one end of the suspended core fiber to a single mode fiber, whereas the other end is kept open to enable the interaction between the light propagating in the suspended core and the ethanol gas molecules. The sensor was tested with different percentages of ethanol, exhibiting a linear response between 0 and 100 wt.%, with a sensitivity of 3.9 pm/wt.%. The proposed sensor, with a length of a few hundred micrometers, can be an alternative solution for the detection of gaseous ethanol in foods or beverages, such as wines and distilled drinks.

The tunnel excavation works generate huge quantities of earth. These excavated materials are primarily stored in landfills. This paper proposes an alternative solution for valorizing excavated earth in earthen constructions. Firstly, the excavated earth was characterized using differential and gravimetric thermal analysis (DTA / TGA), infrared spectra (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction. Hence, sand, fine particles, and water extracted from excavated earth are used to elaborate mortars’ stabilized with cement, lime, and slag. Short hemp fibers were also used to diminish shrinkage cracks. The quantity of stabilizers was fixed to 5% by weight of the excavated earth while the water/solid ratio was maintained constant and equal to 0.45. Five different mortar formulations were performed using excavated earth and were cured for 28 days in a controlled environment before testing. Compressive and three-point flexural tests were carried out to determine specimens’ mechanical properties. The characterization results show that the excavated earth are mainly composed of dolomite, calcite, quartz, and clay. While, the mechanical results show that the stabilized excavated earth with cement additive presents higher mechanical properties relative to the other additives.

Information Technology have to be an enabler of every activity. With the information technology, the effectiveness and efficiency of work shoultd be increase. The obstacles faced, with the existence of information technology, can be an alternative solution. SDN Hurip Jaya 03 Babelan is a school located on the north coast of Bekasi Regency. This school has a challenge where cable internet access from Provider has not yet entered so that educators and education staff, students use independent resources for internet access. Administrative and learning activities already use computers but have not utilized cloud applications such as google forms, google classroom, and shorter url applications for learning e-learning. The educators and education staff are also still working with computers in typing so that their work is less effective. The solution we provide is to share knowledge, knowledge, experience and resources in providing solutions to existing problems. The activities that have been carried out are providing wifi modem and usb wifi resources for internet access, training in fast typing the 10 finger method, using google forms and google classroom for administration and learning, as well as the bit.ly application for naming links to make reading easier. We hope that if the material presented can be trained and applied seriously, it will certainly be useful in supporting administrative and learning activities.

The implementation of the Noken election system in several areas in Papua Province is still debatable whether this system violates the democracy principle or not. Noken shows the symbol of power and wisdom when the election and induction of traditional (adat) leader that describe their own democracy election system. Noken has been used as an instrument to replace the ballot box since 1971 until the last Indonesia presidential direct election 2019, especially in highland areas, which are difficult to access. This Noken election system has been legally supported by several decisions of Constitutional Court in 2009. By cultivating the theory of recognition, this chapter aims to study the significance of Noken traditional election system as a form government recognition to Papuan even though this system is not applied in all Papua regions. Furthermore, this chapter attempts to analyze the potential of Noken election system as an alternative solution to reduce the Papua prolonged conflict by guaranteeing the political participation of the adat community.

New technological requirements and needs of today's world are forcing cities to transform into smart cities and smart destinations in tourism cases. Smart destinations are focused on enhancing the tourist experience while also supporting the decision-making process, sustaining effective usage of resources, and maintaining sustainability. Big data has started to act as a reliable resource that assists these processes and offers alternative solution methods. Improvements in the usage of big data within the framework of smart destination management systems will also provide new insights and understandings about heritage sites and their management. Istanbul and the Sultanahmet region, which were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, form the main domain of this chapter. This research aims to reveal any significant differences between Istanbul Wi-Fi data, Sultanahmet Wi-Fi data, and Istanbul Arrivals data. Kruskal-Wallis Test was conducted for comparing these data sets for 28 countries, and recommendations are presented.

One of the main skill in learning English as second language is writing. Learning writing is necessarily important nowadays, not only for education purposes but also for occupation purposes as well. However, most of the students feel bored in writing; one of the reasons is because the teaching learning process still uses conventional method. Thereby, it seems that writing is difficult and boring because the students score in writing is low. Therefore, the researcher uses Skype as the media in teaching writing as an alternative solution for this problem. The study aim is to find if there is any significant influence of using Skype towards students’ writing skill especially in writing descriptive text. The result of this study showed that there is a significant influence of using Skype towards students’ writing skill.

Database security is a very important aspect of an information system. A general information is onlyintended for certain groups. Therefore, it is very important for a company to prevent database leakage sothat the information contained in it does not fall to unauthorized people. Cryptographic technique is an alternative solution that can be used in database security. One way to maintain the security of the database is to use encryption techniques. The method used to secure the database is encryption using the ROTI3 and Caesar Cipher methods. Both of these methods have advantages in processing speed. For thisreason, the author will compare the use of the two algorithms above in terms of the encryption and decryption process time

Abstract. The use of household insecticides is an alternative solution to prevent mosquito bites. Most of the household insecticides sold in Indonesia have pyrethroid active ingredients, permethrin, which is available in the aerosol formulation. Inappropriate use of household insecticides can reducemosquito susceptibility. The objectives of this study are to describe the use of household insecticidesand susceptibility of Aedes sp. against permethrin in Sorosutan Yogyakarta. This study used a crosssectionalsurvey design. This study was conducted in December 2018–April 2019 in 354 householdsin Sorosutan which were randomly selected based on proportional sampling. Interviews about thehousehold insecticides were conducted with the owner or resident of the house. The susceptibilitytests used impregnated paper with permethrin 0.75%. The survey results showed that 25.14% ofthe houses use household insecticides. The insecticide used were aerosol, electric mosquito repellents, and mosquito coils containing active ingredients of the pyrethroid group, namely dimefl uthrin, transfl uthrin, prallethrin, cypermethrin, and metofl uthrin. The susceptibility test results showed adecrease in mosquito susceptibility where the population of Aedes sp. in Sorosutan has been resistantagainst permethrin. The continuous use of insecticides with pyrethroid active ingredients can developmosquito resistance against permethrin because all pyrethroids have the same mode of action. Thisstudy concludes that only a small proportion (25,14%) of the households used insecticides with theactive ingredients used mainly in the pyrethroid group (dimefl uthrin, transfl uthrin, prallethrin, cypermethrin, and metofl uthrin) and the population of Aedes sp. in Sorosutan has been resistant topermethrin.
