A CMOS amplifier with differential input and output was designed for very high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) and low offset. This design was implemented by the 0.35 μm CMOS technology provided by TSMC. With three stages of amplification and by balanced self-bias, a voltage gain of 80 dB with a CMRR of 130 dB was achieved. The related input offset was as low as 0.6 μV. In addition, the bias circuits were designed to be less sensitive to the power supply. It was expected that the whole amplifier was then more independent of process variations. This fact was confirmed in this study by simulation. With the simulation results, it is promising to exhibit an amplifier with high performances for biomedical applications.

Concentrating characteristics of the sunlight have an important effect on the optical-thermal conversion efficiency of solar concentrator and the application of the receiver. In this paper, radiation flux in the focal plane and the receiver with three focal lengths has been investigated based on Monte Carlo ray-tracing method. At the same time, based on the equal area-height and equal area-diameter methods to design four different shape receivers and numerical simulation of radiation flux distribution characteristics have also been investigated. The results show that the radiation flux in the focal plane increases with decreasing of the focal length and the diameter of the light spot increases with increasing of the focal length. The function of the position with a maximum of radiation flux has been obtained according to the numerical results. The results also show that the radiation flux distribution of cylindrical receiver has the best performance in all four receivers. The results can provide a reference for future design and application of concentrating solar power.

ABSTRACTHigh intensity pulsed beams of photons, electrons and ions provide extremely efficient means for electronically exciting solids near their surfaces. Among these three, laser beams with ever-increasing time resolution have also served as diagnostic probes to clarify the picosecond time scale on which interchange of energy between the electronic and the vibrational states of solids takes place at very high excitation energy densities. Because of this rapid transfer of electronic excitation to heat, pulsed beams provide versatile tools to investigate transient thermodynamic phenomena in solids, particularly those associated with metastable phases such as amorphous silicon.
