ABSTRACTThe genome of “CandidatusPortiera aleyrodidarum,” the primary endosymbiont of the whiteflyBemisia tabaci(Mediterranean species), is reported. It presents a reduced genome (357 kb) encoding the capability to synthetize, or participate in the synthesis of, several amino acids and carotenoids, being the first insect endosymbiont capable of supplying carotenoids.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain LK-151 of Leuconostoc mesenteroides, which was isolated from a Japanese sake cellar and has the potential to produce large amounts of d-amino acids, namely, d-Ala and d-Glu. The genome contains 4 genes related to d-amino acid production.

ABSTRACT This announcement reports the complete genome sequence of strain LK-145 of Lactobacillus sakei isolated from a Japanese sake cellar as a potent strain for the production of large amounts of d-amino acids. Three putative genes encoding an amino acid racemase were identified.

Malassezia restricta, one of the predominant basidiomycetous yeasts present on human skin, is involved in scalp disorders. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the lipophilic Malassezia restricta CBS 7877 strain, which will facilitate the study of the mechanisms underlying its commensal and pathogenic roles within the skin microbiome.

The hydrogen-utilizing strain Cupriavidus necator H16 (DSM 428) was sequenced using a combination of PacBio and Illumina sequencing. Annotation of this strain reveals 6,543 protein-coding genes, 263 pseudogenes, 64 tRNA genes, and 15 rRNA genes.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging opportunistic human pathogen. In this report, we describe the isolation and genomic annotation of the S. maltophilia-infecting bacteriophage Mendera. A myophage of 159,961 base pairs, Mendera is T4-like and related most closely to Stenotrophomonas phage IME-SM1.

ABSTRACT Mycobacterium chimaera is a nontuberculous mycobacterium species commonly found in the environment. Here, we report the first complete genome sequence of a strain from the investigation of invasive infections following open-heart surgeries that used contaminated LivaNova Sorin Stockert 3T heater-cooler devices.

ABSTRACT Here we report the complete genome sequence of Streptococcus agalactiae strain 874391. This serotype III isolate is a member of the hypervirulent sequence type 17 (ST-17) lineage that causes a disproportionate number of cases of invasive disease in humans and mammals. A brief historical context of the strain is discussed.

Bacillus subtilis WB800N is a genetically engineered variant of B. subtilis 168, such that all extracellular proteases are disrupted, which enables WB800N to be widely used for the expression of secretory proteins. Here, we report the 4.2-Mb complete genome sequence of WB800N and present all of the disrupted gene structure.
