We present here the complete genome sequences of plant growth-promoting Klebsiella sp. strain MPUS7, Serratia sp. strain NGAS9, and Citrobacter sp. strain LUTT5, isolated from rhizosphere soils and tubers of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) plants growing in the northern and southern highlands of Tanzania.

ABSTRACT Members of the Klebsiella genus promote plant growth. We report here draft whole-genome sequences for 15 Klebsiella sp. isolates from sugarcane fields in the Cauca Valley of Colombia. The genomes of these isolates were characterized as part of a broader effort to evaluate their utility as endemic plant growth-promoting biofertilizers.

Azospirillum sp. strains TSA2S and TSH100 are plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria with the capacity to mitigate N2O from agricultural soil. They were isolated from the rhizosphere of paddy soil in Tokyo, Japan. Here, we present the genome sequences of these two strains.

ABSTRACT Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) include species in the genera Bacillus, Paenibacillus, and Pseudomonas. We report here the draft genome sequences of the strains Pseudomonas koreensis UASWS1668 and Bacillus megaterium UASWS1667, isolated from a horse chestnut tree, and Paenibacillus sp. strain UASWS1643, isolated from a tomato stem. Auxin production and phosphate solubilization were biochemically confirmed.

ABSTRACT Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) and tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.), among the main crops belonging to the Solanaceae family, are attacked by several pathogens. Among them Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici and Rhizoctonia solani are very common and cause significant losses. Four plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, Azospirillum brasilense, Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus, Herbaspirillum seropedicae and Burkholderia ambifaria were tested against these pathogens. In vitro antagonistic activities of single strains were assessed through dual culture plates. Strains showing antagonistic activity (G. diazotrophicus, H. seropedicae and B. ambifaria) were combined and, after an in vitro confirmation, the consortium was applied on S. lycopersicum and S. tuberosum in a greenhouse pot experiment. The bioprotection was assessed in pre-emergence (infection before germination) and post-emergence (infection after germination). The consortium was able to successfully counteract the infection of both F. oxysporum and R. solani, allowing a regular development of plants. The biocontrol of the fungal pathogens was highlighted both in pre-emergence and post-emergence conditions. This selected consortium could be a valid alternative to agrochemicals and could be exploited as biocontrol agent to counteract losses due to these pathogenic fungi.

Azospirillum brasilense is used worldwide as a plant growth-promoting inoculant for agricultural crops. To understand how the genomes of Indian strains of A. brasilense compare with their South American counterparts, we determined the whole-genome sequences of four strains of A. brasilense isolated from the rhizosphere of grasses from India.

ABSTRACT Here, we present a complete circular genome (5.4 Mb) and a plasmid (104,972 bp) of the plant growth-promoting bacterium Phytobacter diazotrophicus strain UAEU22, isolated from date palm rhizosphere in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Annotation of the genome resulted in 5,229 predicted genes.

Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the cytokinin-producing plant growth-promoting strain Pseudomonas fluorescens G20-18. The complete genome assembly resulted in a single, circular chromosome of 6.48 Mbp and harbors several secondary metabolite biosynthesis gene clusters that are potentially involved in its plant growth-promoting function.
