The synthesis of the following mixed ligand complexes is reported: [Ni(phdtc)2(dpm)2], [Ni(phdtc)2(dpe)2], [Ni(phdtc)2(dpp)3], [Ni(1-naphdtc)2(dpm)2], [Ni(1-naphdtc)2], and [Ni(1-naphdtc)2(dpp)2], where phdtc = PhNHCSS-, 1-naphdtc = 1-NaPhNHCSS-, dpm = Ph2PCH2PPh2, dpe = Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2, and dpp = Ph2P(CH2)3PPh2. The complexes are characterised by microanalysis, IR and UV-Vis spectra, magnetic measurements, conductivity, X-ray powder diffraction, and thermal analysis. All the mixed ligand complexes are diamagnetic, and thus a square-planar or square-pyramidal (low-spin) structure was proposed for the present complexes.

Abstract The following mixed ligand complexes were synthesized and characterized: Co(Phdtcz)2(Phtu)2, Co(Phdtcz)2(Clphtu)2 , Co(Phdtcz)2(dtm), Ni(Et2dtc)2(dtm), Ni(Phdtc)2(dtm), Ni(p-Toluiddtc)2(dtm), Ni(α-naphdtc)2(dtm), and Ni(Phdtcz)(Et2dtc); where Phdtcz = phenyldithiocarbazate, Et2dtc = diethyldithiocarbamate, Phdtc = phenyldithiocarbamate, p-Toluiddtc = p-toluidinedithiocarbamate, α-naphdtc = α-naphthyldithiocarbamate, Phtu = phenylthiourea, Clphtu - chlorophenylthiourea, and dtm - bis(diphenylphosphinothioyl)-methane. Electronic and IR spectra, magnetic, conductivity and X-ray powder diffraction measurements were carried out. The Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes are suggested to be square planar and octahedral, respectively. The biological activity of the complexes was also tested.

The mixed ligand complexes of manganese(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II), and cadmium(II) involving aspartic acid and benzoic acid have been synthesized. The complexes were studied by various spectroscopic techniques such as infrared, electronic, X-ray diffraction, and magnetic measurements. The complexes were found to have octahedral geometry. The X-ray powder diffraction results show that the crystal systems of Mn(II)-Asp-Ben complex are hexagonal, and Ni(II)-Asp-Ben, Cu(II)-Asp-Ben, Zn(II)-Asp-Ben, and Cd(II)-Asp-Ben complexes are found to be triclinic. The value of unit-cell parameters and XRD data for the five mixed ligand complexes are reported.

The title compound has been synthesized by metathesis of Ba[Pt(CN)4]·4 H2O with Rb2SO4, in aqueous solution. Its crystal structure was solved from X-ray powder diffraction data using the simulated-annealing approach, and refined by Rietveld’s method. The compound crystallizes in space group Imma, a = 11.1432(2), b = 7.4382(1), c = 11.1896(2) Å, V = 927.45(3) Å3, Z = 4, Rp = 0.0402, Rw = 0.0247 (Nhkl = 173). Square-planar tetracyanoplatinate groups stack in an unprecedented eclipsed conformation, forming one-dimensional linear chains of Pt-atoms with Pt-Pt separations of 3.719 Å . Rb2[Pt(CN)4] was characterized by differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetry and infrared spectroscopy.

The crystal structure of the quaternary compound CuVInSe3 belonging to the system (CuInSe2)1-x(VSe)x with x= ½, was analyzed using X-ray powder diffraction data. This material was synthesized by the melt and anneal method and crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P2c (Nº 112), with unit cell parameters a = 5.7909(4) Å, c = 11.625(1) Å, V = 389.84(5) Å3. The Rietveld refinement of 25 instrumental and structural variables led to Rexp = 6.6 %, Rp = 8.7 %, Rwp = 8.8 % and S = 1.3 for 4501 step intensities and 153 independent reflections. This compound has a normal adamantane structure and is isostructural with CuFeInSe3. The DTA indicates that this compound melts at 1332 K.

Mixed ligand complexes of bis(phenyldithiocarbazato)nickel(II) with triphenylphosphane and a number of ditertiary phosphanes have been synthesised. The complexes were characterised on the basis of molar conductance, magnetic moment values, electronic and IR spectra. Out of the five prepared com plexes the mixed ligand complexes with triphenylphosphane and bis(diphenylphosphino) m ethane are paramagnetic, the mixed ligand complexes with bis(diphenylphosphino) ethane, -propane, and -butane are diamagnetic. The complexes were assigned octahedral, square planar or square pyramidal structures. The biological activities of the complexes were also tested.

Structure and magnetic properties of ferrimagnetic bioceramics in the system {0.45(CaO, P2O5) ySiO2 xFe2O3 0.03Na2O}, x=0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, were studied by x-ray powder diffraction and magnetic measurements. Magnetite and calcium phosphate, crystallizing in the hexagonal and monoclinic crystal systems, are the major phases in the compounds. Phase development, crystal structure, and magnetic properties of the composites are determined by the specific starting composition of oxides and the heat-treatment temperature.

Abstract A new mixed-ligand complex of copper(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline and 2-methyllactate was prepared. [Cu(HmL)2(phen)] ·2H2O (where HmL = monodeprotonated 2-methyllactic acid) was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic and EPR spectroscopy, magnetic measurements at room temperature, thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray diffractometry. The copper atom is in a tetragonally distorted octahedral environment and the 2-methyllactato ligand is bidentately chelating. The presence of lattice water molecules mediates the formation of a three-dimensional network.

The pure ternary phases on the line Yb2O3-SeO2 in thermodynamical equilibrium have been synthesized by solid state reaction and characterized using X-ray powder diffraction and IR-spectroscopy. There exist three phases: Yb2SeO5, Yb2Se3O9 and Yb2Se4O11, the last one with a homogeneiety range extending a higher SeO2-content. The thermal decompositions have been determined by total pressure measurements, and the thermodynamical data of the compounds have been derived. The phase diagram and the phase barogram have been established using the results of thermal analysis and total pressure measurements.
