In this paper, we consider a class of predator–prey equations with state-dependent delayed feedback. Firstly, we investigate the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of the Hopf bifurcation. Then we use perturbation methods to determine the sub/supercriticality of Hopf bifurcation and hence the stability of Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions. Finally, numerical simulations supporting our theoretical results are also provided.

This paper is concerned with a Holling type III predator-prey system with stage structure for the prey population and two time delays. The main result is given in terms of local stability and bifurcation. By choosing the time delay as a bifurcation parameter, sufficient conditions for the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of periodic solutions via Hopf bifurcation with respect to both delays are obtained. In particular, explicit formulas that can determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are established by using the normal form method and center manifold theorem. Finally, numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are also included.

A class of predator-prey system with distributed delays and competition term is considered. By considering the time delay as bifurcation parameter, we analyze the stability and the Hopf bifurcation of the predator-prey system. According to the theorem of Hopf bifurcation, some sufficient conditions are obtained for the local stability of the positive equilibrium point.

The Hopf bifurcation for a predator-prey system with -logistic growth and prey refuge is studied. It is shown that the ODEs undergo a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium when the prey refuge rate or the index- passed through some critical values. Time delay could be considered as a bifurcation parameter for DDEs, and using the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction, explicit formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main results.

In this paper, we investigate the stability and Hopf bifurcation of a delayed density-dependent predator–prey system with Beddington–DeAngelis functional response, where not only the prey density dependence but also the predator density dependence are considered such that the studied predator–prey system conforms to the realistically biological environment. We start with the geometric criterion introduced by Beretta and Kuang [2002] and then investigate the stability of the positive equilibrium and the stability switches of the system with respect to the delay parameter [Formula: see text]. Especially, we generalize the geometric criterion in [Beretta & Kuang, 2002] by introducing the condition [Formula: see text] which can be assured by the condition [Formula: see text], and adopting the technique of lifting to define the function [Formula: see text] for alternatively determining stability switches at the zeroes of [Formula: see text]s. Afterwards, by the Poincaré normal form for Hopf bifurcation in [Kuznetsov, 1998] and the bifurcation formulae in [Hassard et al., 1981], we qualitatively analyze the properties for the occurring Hopf bifurcations of the system (3). Finally, an example with numerical simulations is given to illustrate the obtained results.

A singular delayed biological economic predator-prey system with and without stochastic fluctuation is proposed. The conditions of singularity induced bifurcation are gained, and a state feedback controller is designed to eliminate such bifurcation. Furthermore, saddle-node bifurcation is also showed. Next, the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained by analyzing the distribution of roots of the corresponding characteristic equation, and the hybrid control strategy is used to control the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation. In addition, some explicit formulas determining the spectral densities of the populations and harvest effort are given when the system is considered with stochastic fluctuation. Finally, numerical simulations are illustrated to verify the theoretical results.

A delay-induced nonautonomous predator–prey system with variable habitat complexity is proposed based on mathematical and ecological issues, and this system is more realistic than the published models. Firstly, the permanence of the nonautonomous predation system is studied and some sufficient conditions are obtained. Secondly, the dynamical behaviors of the corresponding autonomous predation system are investigated, including the positivity and boundedness, and local and global stabilities. Thirdly, the properties of Hopf bifurcation of the autonomous predation system without/with delay are investigated and the explicit formulas which determine the stability and the direction of periodic solutions are obtained. Finally, a numerical example is given to test our theoretical results.

This paper studies a diffusive Holling–Tanner predator–prey system with stoichiometric density dependence. The local stability of positive equilibrium, the existence of Hopf bifurcation and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions have been obtained in the absence of diffusion. We also study the spatially homogeneous and nonhomogeneous periodic solutions through all parameters of the system, which are spatially homogeneous. In order to verify our theoretical results, some numerical simulations are carried out.

In this paper, we consider a predator-prey system with two time delays, which describes a prey–predator model with parental care for predators. The local stability of the positive equilibrium is analysed. By choosing the two time delays as the bifurcation parameter, the existence of Hopf bifurcation is studied. Numerical simulations show the positive equilibrium loses its stability via the Hopf bifurcation when the time delay increases beyond a threshold.

A group of sufficient conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation is obtained. Secondly, an explicit formula for determining the stability and the direction of periodic solutions that bifurcate from Hopf bifurcation is derived by using the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main theoretical results.

In this paper, an infection model with delay and general incidence function is formulated and analyzed. Theoretical results reveal that positive equilibrium may lose its stability, and Hopf bifurcation occurs when choosing delay as the bifurcation parameter. The direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the periodic solutions are also discussed. Furthermore, to illustrate the numerous changes in the local stability and instability of the positive equilibrium, we conduct numerical simulations by using four different types of functional incidence, i.e., bilinear incidence, saturation incidence, Beddington–DeAngelis response, and Hattaf–Yousfi response. Rich dynamics of the model, such as Hopf bifurcations and chaotic solutions, are presented numerically.
