In this paper, we show the instability of a charged massive scalar field in bound states around Kerr–Sen black holes. By matching the near and far region solutions of the radial part in the corresponding Klein–Gordon equation, one can show that the frequency of bound state scalar fields contains an imaginary component which gives rise to an amplification factor for the fields. Hence, the unstable modes for a charged and massive scalar perturbation in Kerr–Sen background can be shown.

Scalar fields can form real bound states around black holes for a specific frequency. In this work, we review the case of a charged and massive scalar field around a charged rotating black hole, in order to find these bound states. We analyze the behavior of these solutions for different parameters and also comment on analytic solutions for certain regimes.

We solve the one-dimensional time-independent Klein–Gordon equation in the presence of a smooth potential well. The bound state solutions are given in terms of the Whittaker [Formula: see text] function, and the antiparticle bound state is discussed in terms of potential parameters.

We solve the Klein–Gordon equation in the presence of a spatially one-dimensional cusp potential. The bound state solutions are derived and the antiparticle bound state is discussed.

We investigate the behaviour of a massive scalar field under the influence of a Coulomb-type and central linear central potentials inserted in the Klein-Gordon equation by modifying the mass term in the spacetime with Lorentz symmetry violation. We consider the presence of a background constant vector field which characterizes the breaking of the Lorentz symmetry and show that analytical solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can be achieved.

We present the exact solution of the Klein–Gordon equation in D-dimensions in the presence of the equal scalar and vector pseudoharmonic potential plus the ring-shaped potential using the Nikiforov–Uvarov method. We obtain the exact bound state energy levels and the corresponding eigen functions for a spin-zero particles. We also find that the solution for this ring-shaped pseudoharmonic potential can be reduced to the three-dimensional (3D) pseudoharmonic solution once the coupling constant of the angular part of the potential becomes zero.

We solve the Klein–Gordon equation in any D-dimension for the scalar and vector general Hulthén-type potentials with any l by using an approximation scheme for the centrifugal potential. Nikiforov–Uvarov method is used in the calculations. We obtain the bound-state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of spin-zero particles in terms of Jacobi polynomials. The eigenfunctions are physical and the energy eigenvalues are in good agreement with those results obtained by other methods for D = 1 and 3 dimensions. Our results are valid for q = 1 value when l ≠ 0 and for any q value when l = 0 and D = 1 or 3. The s-wave (l = 0) binding energies for a particle of rest mass m0 = 1 are calculated for the three lower-lying states (n = 0, 1, 2) using pure vector and pure scalar potentials.

In this paper, based on the Standard Model Extended gauge sector, we made a nonminimal coupling in the Klein–Gordon equation which characterizes the Lorentz symmetry violation and, through this nonminimal CPT-odd coupling, we investigate the effects of possible scenarios of Lorentz symmetry violation by electrical and magnetic field configurations on a massive scalar field in this background, where, analytically, we determine solutions of bound states.

In this work, we investigate validity of the weak form of the cosmic censorship conjecture in the interaction of Kerr–Sen black holes with neutral test fields. Previous studies of the Klein–Gordon equation on Kerr–Sen background imply that superradiance occurs for scalar fields. We show that scalar fields can overspin a nearly extremal black hole into a naked singularity, but the modes that could overspin an extremal black hole are not absorbed due to superradiance. From Kerr analogy one can naively expect superradiance to be absent for fermionic fields. In such a case overspinning becomes generic and also applies to extremal Kerr–Sen black holes. This robust violation of cosmic censorship cannot be fixed by backreaction effects which are ignored in this work. These results are analogous to the Kerr case.

The radial part of the Klein–Gordon equation for the Woods–Saxon potential is solved. In our calculations, we have applied the Nikiforov–Uvarov method by using the Pekeris approximation to the centrifugal potential for any l-states. The exact bound state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions are obtained on the various values of the quantum numbers n and l. The nonrelativistic limit of the bound state energy spectrum was also found.
