4-N,N-Diethylamino sulfonyl phenyl amine was synthesized by diazotization and coupled with 8-hydroxyquinoline. The resultant 5-(4-N,N-diethylamino sulfonyl phenyl azo)-8-hydorxy quinoline (DSAQ) was characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies. The transition metal chelatesviz. Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+and Zn2+of DSAQ were prepared and characterized by metal-ligand (M:L) ratio. IR and reflectance spectroscopy and magnetic properties. The anti fungal activity of DSAQ and its metal chelates was screened against various fungi. The results show that all these samples are good antifungal agents.

The Schiff base complexes derived from 2-furancarboxaldehyde and N-methyl-2-amino phenol have been prepared and characterized using several physical techniques, like elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic moment measurements, infrared and resonance spectra.N-Methyl-2-amino phenol was condensed stoichiometrically with 2-furancarboxaldehyde in presence of methanol. The resulting 1,7-di(2-hydroxyphenyl) 1,7 di(N-methyl) aza-1,3,5 heptarine-3-ol hydrochloride was characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies. The transition metal complexes of Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+and Mn2+of the synthesized complexes were prepared. Metal ligand (M:L) ratio, IR, reflectance spectral studies, magnetic properties and antimicrobial activity of the synthesized complexes and its metal complexes were carried out.

Tannin obtained from Eucalyptus plant, condensed with formaldehyde and then 8-hydroxy quinoline. The so called obtained polymer designated as TFQ was used for metal chelate formation. Thus Transition metal chelates of TFQ with Zn+2, Co+2, Cu+2, Ni+2 and Mn+2 metal ions were prepared. The ligand TFQ and its all five metal chelates were characterized by nitrogen content, IR, UV-Visible spectral studies, magnetic moments and thermogravimetry. The antimicrobial activity of all the samples has also been monitored against common microbes.

Microwave irradiative synthesis of triazine substituted pyrazoles i.e. (4-benzylideneamino-6-methyl-[1,3,5]-triazin-2-yl)-(5-methyl-2-substituted benzoyl/isonicotinoyl/cinnamoyl-pyrazol-3-yl)-amines have been achieved by the cyclocondensation of N-(4-benzylideneamino-6-methyl-[1,3,5]-triazin-2-yl)-3-oxo butyramide with substituted acid hydrazides. Synthesis of required butyramide was done by reacting 2,4-diamino-6-methyl-[1,3,5]-triazine with benzaldehyde and then condensing the product with ethyl acetoacetate. Structural investigation of synthesized compounds has been done by chemical transformation, elemental analysis and IR, 1H NMR, mass spectral studies. Study of antitubercular and antimicrobial activity of title compounds against some selected Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms was performed to establish the relationship between structure and activity of compound.

The title compounds (7a-h) were prepared by esterification of indole-5-carboxylic acid (1) and subsequent treatment with hydrazine hydrate in methanolviathe hydrazide (3). Finally hydrazide (3) condensed with different substituted aldol (6) in acetic acid / PTSA catalytic media produced (3,5-subsituted-4,5-dihydropyrazol-1-yl)(1H-indol-5-yl)methanone (7a-h) in good yields. All the newly synthesized compounds are by elemental analysis and spectral studies and evaluated for antimicrobial activities.
