It is wellknown that there are two horizons for the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter spacetime, namely, the black hole horizon and the cosmological one. Both horizons can usually seem to be two independent thermodynamic systems; however, the thermodynamic quantities on both horizons satisfy the laws of black hole thermodynamics and are not independent. In this paper by considering the relations between the two horizons we give the effective thermodynamic quantities in Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter spacetime. The thermodynamic properties of these effective quantities are analyzed; moreover, the critical temperature, critical pressure, and critical volume are obtained. We also discussed the thermodynamic stability of Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter spacetime.

We study the phase transition of charged Gauss-Bonnet-de Sitter (GB-dS) black hole. For black holes in de Sitter spacetime, there is not only black hole horizon, but also cosmological horizon. The thermodynamic quantities on both horizons satisfy the first law of the black hole thermodynamics, respectively; moreover, there are additional connections between them. Using the effective temperature approach, we obtained the effective thermodynamic quantities of charged GB-dS black hole. According to Ehrenfest classification, we calculate some response functions and plot their figures, from which one can see that the spacetime undergoes a second-order phase transition at the critical point. It is shown that the critical values of effective temperature and pressure decrease with the increase of the value of GB parameterα.

This work discusses the black hole thermodynamics in a weak dynamical Anti-de Sitter spacetime, which should be described by the nonequilibrium thermodynamics, because the metric depends on the time coordinate. Taking the Vaidya-Anti-de Sitter black hole spacetime as an example, the local entropy balance equations and principle of minimum entropy generation are derived, and finally, some irreversible effects in nonequilibrium thermodynamics are studied by using the Onsager reciprocal relation.

We study the thermodynamic properties of the black hole derived in Hořava–Lifshitz (HL) gravity without the detailed-balance condition. The parameter [Formula: see text] in the HL black hole plays the same role as that of the electric charge in the Reissner–Nordström-anti-de Sitter (RN-AdS) black hole. By analogy, we treat the parameter [Formula: see text] as the thermodynamic variable and obtain the first law of thermodynamics for the HL black hole. Although the HL black hole and the RN-AdS black hole have the similar mass and temperature, due to their very different entropy, the two black holes have very different thermodynamic properties. By calculating the heat capacity and the free energy, we analyze the thermodynamic stability of the HL black hole.

Abstract We investigate the effect of the generalized uncertainty principle on the thermodynamic properties of the topological charged black hole in anti-de Sitter space within the framework of doubly special relativity. Our study is based on a heuristic analysis of a particle which is captured by the black hole. We obtain some thermodynamic properties of the black hole including temperature, entropy, and heat capacity in the spherical horizon case.

We find an exact nonstatic charged BTZ-like solutions, in (N+1)-dimensional Einstein gravity in the presence of negative cosmological constant and a nonlinear Maxwell field defined by a power s of the Maxwell invariant, which describes the gravitational collapse of charged null fluid in an anti-de Sitter background. Considering the situation that a charged null fluid injects into the initially an anti-de Sitter spacetime, we show that a black hole form rather than a naked singularity, irrespective of spacetime dimensions, from gravitational collapse in accordance with cosmic censorship conjecture. The structure and locations of the apparent horizons of the black holes are also determined. It is interesting to see that, in the static limit and when N = 2, one can retrieve 2+1 BTZ black hole solutions.

Motivated by recent physical interpretation on quasinormal modes presented by Maggiore [Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 141301 (2008)], the adiabatic quantity method given by Kunstatter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 90, 161301 (2003)] is used to calculate the spectrums of a non-extremal Schwarzschild de Sitter black hole in this paper, as well as electrically charged case. According to highly damped Konoplya and Zhidenko's numerical observational results for high overtone modes [JHEP 06, 037 (2004)], we found that the asymptotic non-flat spacetime structure leads to two interesting facts: (i) near inner event horizon, the area and entropy spectrums, which are given by Aen= 8 n1πℏ, Sen= 2πn1ℏ, are equally spaced accurately. (ii) However, near outer cosmological horizon the spectrums, which are in the form of [Formula: see text], are not markedly equidistant. Finally, we also discuss the electrically charged case and find that the black holes in de Sitter spacetime have similar quantization behavior no matter with or without charge.

This paper gives a brief review of recent results on higher dimensional black hole solutions. It is shown that the D-dimensional Kerr-NUT-de Sitter spacetime constructed by Chen-Lü-Pope is the only spacetime admitting a rank-2 conformal Killing-Yano tensor with a certain symmetry.
