We first prove characterizations ofp-uniform convexity andq-uniform smoothness. We next give a formulation on absolute normalized norms onℂ2. Using these, we present some examples of Banach spaces. One of them is a uniformly convex Banach space which is notp-uniformly convex.

The notion of asymptotic centre of a bounded sequence of points in a uniformly convex Banach space was introduced by Edelstein in order to prove, in a quasi-constructive way, fixed point theorems for nonexpansive and similar maps.Similar theorems have also been proved by, for example, adding a compactness hypothesis to the restrictions on the domain of the maps. In such proofs, which are generally less constructive, it may be possible to weaken the uniform convexity hypothesis. In this paper Edelstein's technique is extended by defining a notion of asymptotic centre for an arbitrary set of nonempty bounded subsets of a metric space. It is shown that when the metric space is uniformly rotund and complete, and when the set of bounded subsets is a filter base, this filter base has a unique asymptotic centre. This fact is used to derive, in a uniform way, several fixed point theorems for nonexpansive and similar maps, both single-valued and many-valued.Though related to known results, each of the fixed point theorems proved is either stronger than the corresponding known result, or has a compactness hypothesis replaced by the assumption of uniform convexity.

AbstractLet C be a bounded, closed, convex subset of a uniformly convex Banach space X. We investigate the existence of common fixed points for pointwise Lipschitzian semigroups of nonlinear mappings Tt:C→C, where each Tt is pointwise Lipschitzian. The latter means that there exists a family of functions αt:C→[0,∞) such that $\|T_t(x)-T_t(y)\| \leq \alpha _{t}(x)\|x-y\|$ for x,y∈C. We also demonstrate how the asymptotic aspect of the pointwise Lipschitzian semigroups can be expressed in terms of the respective Fréchet derivatives.

In this paper, we study M-iterative scheme in the new context of multi-valued generalized ?-nonexpansive mappings. A uniformly convex Banach space is used as underlying setting for our approach. We also provide a new example of generalized ?-nonexpasive mappings. We connect M iterative scheme and other well known schemes with this example, to show the numerical efficiency of our results. Our results improve and extend many existing results in the current literature.

We prove Browder’s convergence theorem for multivalued mappings in a uniformly convex Banach space with a uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm by using the notion of diametrically regular mappings. Our results are significant improvement on results of Jung (2007) and Panyanak and Suantai (2020).

We shall consider the behaviour of Ishikawa iteration with errors in a uniformly convex Banach space. Then we generalize the two theorems of Tan and Xu without the restrictions thatCis bounded andlimsupnsn<1.

In this paper, two classes of three-step iteration schemes for multi-valued mappings in a uniformly convex Banach space are presented. Moreover, their strong convergence are proved.

Let K be a nonempty subset of a Banach space E. A mapping T:K→K is said to satisfy (RCSC) condition if each a,b∈K, 1/2a−Fa≤a−b⇒Fa−Fb≤1/3a−b+a−Fb+b−Fa. In this paper, we study, under some appropriate conditions, weak and strong convergence for this class of maps through M iterates in uniformly convex Banach space. We also present a new example of mappings with condition (RCSC). We connect M iteration and other well-known processes with this example to show the numerical efficiency of our results. The presented results improve and extend the corresponding results of the literature.

It is shown that ifXis a uniformly convex Banach space andSa bounded linear operator onXfor which‖I−S‖=1, thenSis invertible if and only if‖I−12S‖<1. From this it follows that ifSis invertible onXthen either (i)dist(I,[S])<1, or (ii)0is the unique best approximation toIfrom[S], a natural (partial) converse to the well-known sufficient condition for invertibility thatdist(I,[S])<1.

This paper proposes a generalized modified iterative scheme where the composed self-mapping driving can have distinct step-dependent composition order in both the auxiliary iterative equation and the main one integrated in Ishikawa’s scheme. The self-mapping which drives the iterative scheme is a perturbed 2-cyclic one on the union of two sequences of nonempty closed subsets Ann=0∞ and Bnn=0∞ of a uniformly convex Banach space. As a consequence of the perturbation, such a driving self-mapping can lose its cyclic contractive nature along the transients of the iterative process. These sequences can be, in general, distinct of the initial subsets due to either computational or unmodeled perturbations associated with the self-mapping calculations through the iterative process. It is assumed that the set-theoretic limits below of the sequences of sets Ann=0∞ and Bnn=0∞ exist. The existence of fixed best proximity points in the set-theoretic limits of the sequences to which the iterated sequences converge is investigated in the case that the cyclic disposal exists under the asymptotic removal of the perturbations or under its convergence of the driving self-mapping to a limit contractive cyclic structure.

AbstractLet A be a subset of a Banach space E. A mapping T: A →A is called asymptoically semicontractive if there exists a mapping S: A×A→A and a sequence (kn) in [1, ∞] such that Tx=S(x, x) for all x ∈A while for each fixed x ∈A, S(., x) is asymptotically nonexpansive with sequence (kn) and S(x,.) is strongly compact. Among other things, it is proved that each asymptotically semicontractive self-mpping T of a closed bounded and convex subset A of a uniformly convex Banach space E which satisfies Opial's condition has a fixed point in A, provided s has a certain asymptoticregurity property.
