By extending the Lyapunov equationA*Q+QA=−Pto an arbitrary infinite-dimensional Banach space, we give stability conditions for a class of linear differential systems. Relationship between stabilizability and exact null-controllability is established. The result is applied to obtain new sufficient conditions for the stabilizability of a class of nonlinear control systems in Banach spaces.

In this paper we investigate analytic functions of unbounded type on a complex infinite dimensional Banach space X. The main question is: under which conditions is there an analytic function of unbounded type on X such that its Taylor polynomials are in prescribed subspaces of polynomials? We obtain some sufficient conditions for a function f to be of unbounded type and show that there are various subalgebras of polynomials that support analytic functions of unbounded type. In particular, some examples of symmetric analytic functions of unbounded type are constructed.

AbstractWe establish sufficient conditions on the shape of a set A included in the space (X, Y ) of the n-linear symmetric mappings between Banach spaces X and Y , to ensure the existence of a Cn-smooth mapping f: X → Y, with bounded support, and such that f(n)(X) = A, provided that X admits a Cn-smooth bump with bounded n-th derivative and dens X = dens ℒn(X, Y ). For instance, when X is infinite-dimensional, every bounded connected and open set U containing the origin is the range of the n-th derivative of such amapping. The same holds true for the closure of U, provided that every point in the boundary of U is the end point of a path within U. In the finite-dimensional case, more restrictive conditions are required. We also study the Fréchet smooth case for mappings from ℝn to a separable infinite-dimensional Banach space and the Gâteaux smooth case for mappings defined on a separable infinite-dimensional Banach space and with values in a separable Banach space.

In the paper we establish some conditions under which a given sequence of polynomials on a Banach space X supports entire functions of unbounded type, and construct some counter examples. We show that if X is an infinite dimensional Banach space, then the set of entire functions of unbounded type can be represented as a union of infinite dimensional linear subspaces (without the origin). Moreover, we show that for some cases, the set of entire functions of unbounded type generated by a given sequence of polynomials contains an infinite dimensional algebra (without the origin). Some applications for symmetric analytic functions on Banach spaces are obtained.

Abstract In a Hilbert space setting, necessary and sufficient conditions for the minimum norm solution u to the equation Su = Rz to be continuously dependent on z are given. These conditions are used to study the continuity of minimum energy and linear-quadratic control problems for infinite dimensional linear systems with fixed endpoints.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to investigate the robustness of exact controllability of perturbed linear systems in Banach spaces. Under some conditions, we prove that the exact controllability is preserved if we perturb the generator of an infinite-dimensional control system by appropriate Miyadera–Voigt perturbations. Furthermore, we study the robustness of exact controllability for perturbed boundary control systems. As application, we study the robustness of exact controllability of neutral equations. We mention that our approach is mainly based on the concept of feedback theory of infinite-dimensional linear systems.

We establish a set of sufficient conditions for the controllability of nonlinear neutral evolution integrodifferential systems with infinite delay in Banach spaces. The results are established by using the Sadovskiĭ fixed point theorem and generalize the previous results.

AbstractThis paper is inspired by a counter example of J. Kurzweil published in [5], whose intention was to demonstrate that a certain property of linear operators on finite-dimensional spaces need not be preserved in infinite dimension. We obtain a stronger result, which says that no infinite-dimensional Banach space can have the given property. Along the way, we will also derive an interesting proposition related to Dvoretzky's theorem.

In the theory control systems, there are many various qualitative control problems that can be considered. In our previous work, we have analyzed the approximate controllability and observability of the nonautonomous Riesz-spectral systems including the nonautonomous Sturm-Liouville systems. As a continuation of the work, we are concerned with the analysis of stability, stabilizability, detectability, exact null controllability, and complete stabilizability of linear non-autonomous control systems in Banach spaces. The used analysis is a quasisemigroup approach. In this paper, the stability is identified by uniform exponential stability of the associated C0-quasisemigroup. The results show that, in the linear nonautonomous control systems, there are equivalences among internal stability, stabizability, detectability, and input-output stability. Moreover, in the systems, exact null controllability implies complete stabilizability.

AbstractLet K be a non-trivial complete non-Archimedean valued field and let E be an infinite-dimensional Banach space over K. Some of the main results are:(1) K is spherically complete if and only if every weakly convergent sequence in l∞ is norm-convergent.(2) If the valuation of K is dense, then C0 is complemented in E if and only if C(E,c0) is n o t complemented in L(E,c0), where L(E,c0) is the space of all continuous linear operators from E to c0 and C(E,c0) is the subspace of L(E, c0) consisting of all compact linear operators.
