By using the direct torque control (DTC), robust response in ac drives can be produced. Ripples of currents, torque and flux are oberved in steady state. space vector modulation (SVM) applied in DTC and used for a sensorless induction motor (IM) with fuzzy sliding mode speed controller (FSMSC) is studied in this paper. This control can minimize the torque, flux, current and speed pulsations in steady state. To estimate the rotor speed and stator flux the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is used that is designed from identified voltages and currents. The FSMSC is used to enhance the efficiency and the robustness of the presented system. The DTC transient advantage are maintained, while better quality steady-state performance is produced in sensorless implementation for a wide speed range. The drive system performances have been checked by using Matlab Simultaion, and successful results have been obtained. It is deduced that the proposed control system produces better results than the classical DTC.

Direct torque control (DTC) is known to generate fast and robust control for induction motor drives. Even though, in classical DTC, there exists a notable ripple in torque and flux during steady state, which can be reflected towards the speed response and generating undesirable acoustic noise. This paper introduces two approaches based on variable structure control (VSC) and fuzzy logic control (FLC) to mitigate steady state chattering problem while preserving the merits of DTC operation. The inverter is controlled directly on the basis of stator flux and the torque errors, by selecting most appropriate voltage vector from switching logic table. A comparative study is performed for the three control topologies including conventional DTC and simulation results are presented and discussed. It is concluded that SMC and intelligent control based technique provide better characteristics in steady state operation with regards to the conventional DTC

This paper deals with the performance analysis of three phase Induction Motor (IM) with Direct Torque Control based Space Vector Modulation (DTC-SVM). The DTC-SVM scheme is a kind of high-performance control of IM drives to improve the ripples of torque and flux in steady state, which one drawback of conventional DTC. DTC-SVM has three Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers, one used as the PI speed controller and other PI flux controller and PI torque controller, which are utilized to produce the stator voltage references (

This paper proposes a stator flux estimation method for induction motor based on Prescribed Convergence Law algorithm. A stator flux observer is designed and applied for direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor. The observer tracks stator current and its differential with Prescribed Convergence Law algorithm of second order sliding mode in order to estimate rotor flux, and then estimate stator flux using the relationship between stator flux and rotor flux. This paper takes the differential of estimated flux error as disturbance and divides the MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) observer model into two separate SISO (single input single output) systems, which simplifies the stability analysis. The observer is applied to DTC of induction motor and achieves a good control effect. Simulation experiment results validate the proposed method.
