With the application of more electric aircraft (MEA) technology, variable frequencies and high power ratings become import features of aero-generators. The brushless synchronous generator, which has a three-stage structure, is the most commonly used type of aero-generator. Due to the variation of operating conditions, the implementation of generator controllers becomes more and more difficult. In this paper, a state space model of a generator is derived and the influence of different operating conditions on the frequency response characteristics of the generator is revealed. Based on a fuzzy PI controller, an additional fuzzy logic controller is applied to modify the PI parameters of the voltage loop by introducing the generator speed to cope with the speed variation. Finally, the results of the simulations and experiments demonstrate that the dual fuzzy PI controller can improve both the steady-state and dynamic performance of the brushless synchronous generator, verifying the previous theoretical study.

This work presents a field oriented control (FOC) strategy (Fuzzy Logic (FL)) associated with PI controller applied to the control system of an permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) powered by an inverter dedicated to electric vehicles, the major challenge of our research work is a control law for a permanent magnet synchronous motor more efficient in terms of rejection of disturbances; stability and robustness with respect to parametric uncertainties, A comparison of the performance of the proposed FOC with the FOC with the fuzzy-PI will be presented. The overall development scheme is summarized and an example illustrates features of the control approach performed on a 0.5 kW PMSM drive. The torque and the speed will be judged and compared for the two orders offered. As results, the behavior of the FOC based on fuzzy-PI controller is more efficient compared to the conventional vector control.

The Induction Motor (IM) is popular because of its low price, higher efficiency, and low maintenance cost. A comparative analysis of IM speed controllers using Voltage/Frequency (V/F) control or Scalar Control (SC) is presented in this paper. SC is commonly used due to its ease of implementation, simplicity, and low cost. To decrease the difficulty and cost of hardware implementation, this paper proposes an optimal Fuzzy Proportional Integral (Fuzzy-PI) controller. Firstly, the speed of IM using the V/F control technique is discussed. Then, speed control of IM using a conventional PI controller is performed. Finally, a simplified-rules Fuzzy-PI controller is developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK and its performance is compared with that of open-loop SC and the traditional PI controller. The performance of the simplified-rules Fuzzy-PI controller is superior to that of an open-loop constant V/F control and a conventional PI controller.
