We present here the first record of Salacia tetracythara as an alien species for the Atlantic Ocean, specifically the coast of the state of Sergipe, northeast Brazil. The species was found attached to an artificial experimental plate installed in the rainy period (July-October 2017), in an estuarine region of the Sergipe River near the Sergipe Harbour. Salacia tetracythara is characterized by a small triangular space below each hydrotheca and two types of microbasic mastigophore nematocysts that differ in shape, size, and location. The species was described from Australia and has been recorded only for tropical to temperate regions of the Indo-Pacific. Salacia tetracythara seems to be a recent introduction into the Atlantic Ocean and, its introduction probably derived from ship transport between the Sergipe Harbour and regions of Oceania and/or Asia. Further investigation should be conducted to determine whether the species is established in the region and how far inside the estuary it has gone.

Brocchinia verheckeni n. sp. and Brocchinia harasewychi n. sp. are described from several stations from 340 to 720m on the Continental Slope off Northeast Brazil. Brocchinia verheckeni occurred from the states of Ceará to Sergipe, and B. harasewychi was collected from the states of Pernambuco to Alagoas. Both species are considered endemic to these regions. This is the second record of the genus Brocchinia Jousseaume, 1887 in deep waters off Brazil. Brocchinia harasewychi has a protoconch with 1 ¼ whorls, which is more inflated in comparison to B. verheckeni, the body whorl has 3 spiral cords, the uppermost bordering the suture and the other 2 near mid-whorl. The body whorl of Brocchinia verheckeni has 3 strongly nodulose spiral cords and an outer lip with 5 to 6 internal denticles, while that of B. harasewychi has a smooth outer lip. The genus Gergovia Cossmann, 1899 is recorded for the first time in the Atlantic Ocean with the description of Gergovia petiti n. sp., known only from the oceanic region from Northeast Brazil, occurring from the state of Ceará to the state of Bahia, as well as in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, probably living in the muddy substrate at depths of between 206 and 720 meters.

This study provides the first record of the exotic invasive bivalve Isognomon bicolor for the State of Paraíba, Northeastern Brazil. It has been found to occur in at least twelve coastal reefs along the coast. We also present its first record for the State of Alagoas and new record localities for the States of Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco, including its occurrence in hypersaline estuaries. From these records the distribution range of I. bicolor has been expanded to the littoral region of Northeast Brazil, where this invasive species seems well established.

This study presents Ctenogobius boleosoma from the São Luis estuarine region, the first record from the state of Maranhão, northeastern Brazil. This species may have gone unrecorded from Maranhão due to the difficulties in collecting gobies by the usual sampling methods, such as gill nets, corking nets, and longlines, even when using nets with an appropriate mesh size.

Three females of Cithaeron praedonius O.P.-Cambridge, 1872 (Araneae, Gnaphosoidea, Cithaeronidae), the most widespread species of the family, were found in urban areas in Teresina, capital of the state of Piauí, northeast Brazil. This first record of the family Cithaeronidae to the new world is explained by accidental introduction.

Rhinoclemmys punctularia (Daudin, 1801) inhabits rivers and lakes primarily in the Amazon region, with a disjunct population in southeastern Brazil. Herein we present the second record of R. punctularia from the Atlantic rainforest and the first from the state of Bahia, northeast Brazil. We recorded four specimens over a decade in different habitats from the north coast of Bahia. Our records fill distribution gaps of 980 km from the northern record in Maranhão and 1,130 km from the southern population.

ABSTRACT We report the occurrence of the lizard Gymnophthalmus underwoodi in the municipality of Belém, state of Pará, Brazil. This is the first record of that species south of the Amazonas River, probably because of an accidental introduction by ships that dock in Belém, the same pathway suggested for the recent introduction of another species of exotic lizard recently recorded in the city. We also determined the identity of some specimens of Gymnophthalmus from the states of Amapá and Pará through external morphology and molecular data, confirming that, until now, G. vanzoi is the only Gymnophthalmus occurring in the savanna enclaves of those states. Finally, we provide a new distribution map for the species of Gymnophthalmus, including the new occurrence record for G. underwoodi for the state of Pará, where it can be considered as an invasive species.

Myotis riparius Handley, 1960 was captured in 2 areas of Atlantic Forest in Sergipe, in northeast Brazil, filling the gaps of occurrence of this species in the region. This record expands the richness of bats in the state to 55 species.
