The genus Cosmopterix Hübner of continental Sub-Saharan Africa (Lepidoptera: Gelechioidea: Cosmopterigidae)

The genus Cosmopterix Hübner, [1825] of continental Sub-Saharan Africa is revised. A total of 77 species are recognized and 56 species are described as new. Of eight new species, all known only from females, the validity of the species cannot be confirmed with certainty. Four new synonyms are proposed. Diagnoses, descriptions, and type information are provided for each species. Watercolours of the adults, line drawings of the wing venation, the male and the female genitalia and a key to the species are included, as well as distribution maps.

The Indo-Australian crowned weevil genus Asytesta Pascoe, 1865 is revised. Forty-one species are recognized, including18 that are new: A. alexandriae, A. alexriedeli, A. allisoni, A. biakana, A. cheesmanae, A. concolora, A. emarginata, A.fayae, A. frontalis, A. gressitti, A. julieae, A. marginalis, A. morobeana, A. sedlaceki, A. thompsoni, A. tuberculata, A.vivienae, and A. woodlarkiana, new species. One subspecies, A. lugubris bidentata Voss is elevated to species status, A.bidentata Voss, new status. Four species are newly synonymized: A. circulifera Lea, 1928 = A. rata Heller, 1910, A.definita Faust, 1898 = A. humeralis Pascoe, 1865, A. granulifera Lea, 1928 = A. aucta Faust, 1898, and A. setipes Lea,1928 = A. lugubris Heller, 1895 new synonyms. Six new species groups are proposed. Lectotypes are designated for 18species. Two species are transferred from Asytesta to other genera: A. maura Pascoe to Microporopterus Lea and A.ypsilon Heller to Meroleptus Faust, new combinations. A checklist and key for all crowned weevil genera, key to speciesgroups and species of Asytesta, adult habitus illustrations, distribution maps, and line drawings of diagnostic charactersare provided.A phylogeny for the genus based on 82 adult morphological characters (187 states) for 41 ingroup taxa is alsopresented. All genera and species of the crowned weevil group as redefined here (including Cyamomistus Heller,Eudyasmus Pascoe, Glochinorhinus Waterhouse, Nothotragopus Zimmerman, Panopides Pascoe, and Zygara Pascoe),were included in the analysis to test the monophyly of Asytesta. Monophyly of Asytesta was supported only with thesynonymy of the monotypic genus Zygara. Accordingly, Zygara is a new junior synonym of Asytesta and Zygara doriae (Kirsch) is returned to its original combination with Asytesta; A. doriae Kirsch resurrected status.

The genus Astichus Förster (Eulophidae: Entiinae) is recorded for the first time from sub-Saharan Africa and four newspecies are described from South Africa: A. micans n. sp., A. silvani n. sp., A. gracilis n. sp. and A. naiadis n. sp. .Astichusspecies are known as parasitoids of Ciidae (Coleoptera) tunnelling and living in bracket fungi. The South African speciesemerged together with Ciidae from a variety of bracket fungi from many localities in the region. They are easily separatedfrom known Astichus species from other regions in the world by their distinctive colour and patterning. A key to the SouthAfrican Astichus species, distribution maps, and notes on biology are included, as well as identifications of Ciidae and bracket fungus specimens encountered in the study.

The species of Diaclina Jacquelin du Val, 1861 (Tenebrioninae: Alphitobiini) from the Sub-Saharan Africa are revised. Following new species are proposed: Diaclina ashantica sp. nov. (Ghana), D. grandis sp. nov. (Congo), D. muehlei sp. nov. (Rwanda). Diaclina ovalis Gebien, 1921 is revalidated. Following new synonyms are introduced: Diaclina gracilis (Fåhraeus, 1870) = Diaclina depressa Ardoin, 1963 syn. nov., Diaclina elliptica Ardoin, 1969 syn. nov.; Diaclina ovalis Gebien, 1921 = Diaclina decellei Ardoin, 1969 syn. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Diaclina brevicollis Gebien, 1921, D. cameruna Gebien, 1921, D. minuta Gebien, 1921, and D. ovalis Gebien, 1921. Habitus photographs and figures of aedeagi of all examined species are provided, and an identification key for the African species is added.

Two new species of Amanitasect.Phalloideae are described from tropical Africa (incl. Madagascar) based on both morphological and molecular (DNA sequence) data. Amanitabweyeyensissp. nov. was collected, associated with Eucalyptus, in Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. It is consumed by local people and chemical analyses showed the absence of amatoxins and phallotoxins in the basidiomata. Surprisingly, molecular analysis performed on the same specimens nevertheless demonstrated the presence of the gene sequence encoding for the phallotoxin phallacidin (PHA gene, member of the MSDIN family). The second species, Amanitaharkonenianasp. nov. was collected in Tanzania and Madagascar. It is also characterised by a complete PHA gene sequence and is suspected to be deadly poisonous. Both species clustered together in a well-supported terminal clade in multilocus phylogenetic inferences (including nuclear ribosomal partial LSU and ITS-5.8S, partial tef1-α, rpb2 and β-tubulin genes), considered either individually or concatenated. This, along with the occurrence of other species in sub-Saharan Africa and their phylogenetic relationships, are briefly discussed. Macro- and microscopic descriptions, as well as pictures and line drawings, are presented for both species. An identification key to the African and Madagascan species of Amanitasect.Phalloideae is provided. The differences between the two new species and the closest Phalloideae species are discussed.

SummarySix new species of Coffea are described as new to science: Coffea callmanderi, C. darainensis, C. kalobinonensis, C. microdubardii, C. pustulata and C. rupicola. All six species are endemic to northern Madagascar; four species are narrowly endemic to specific forest areas. Associated information, including distribution maps, conservation assessments, phenology and taxonomic notes are provided, and two species are illustrated with line drawings.

AbstractAhnea keejeongi Park and Carlton (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae), a new genus and new species of New Zealand endemic beetle belonging to the supertribe Faronitae is described. Six previously described species are included to this genus and four species are synonymised as follow: Sagola dissonans Broun, 1921 and S. planicula Broun, 1921 under Ahnea ventralis (Broun, 1912); S. carinata Broun, 1912 and S. lineiceps Broun, 1921 under Ahnea lineata (Broun, 1893). A key to species, habitus photographs, line drawings of diagnostic characters, and distribution maps are provided.

Specimens of Andreaea sect. Andreaea collected in Lesotho show morphological differences from the remaining Sub-Saharan Africa species in the group. Particularly, Lesotho specimens have much larger spores, a character diagnostic in the genus. Spore size also separates the Lesotho specimens from typical A. rupestris from the Northern Hemisphere. Consequently, we describe a new species from the highlands of Lesotho (Andreaea barbarae). Additionally, we present a taxonomic key to all accepted species of Andreaea sect. Andreaea in sub-Saharan Africa.

A new genus Burmanyctycia gen. n. is described for the new species Burmanyctycia naumanni sp. n. from Chin State in north-western Myanmar. The new genus is related to the genera Blepharomima Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1998, Bryotypella Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1998 and Charanyctycia Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1998. Two new synonyms are established: Bryotypella = Paranyctycia Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1998, syn. n. and Bryotypella = Parabole Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1998, syn. n. Six new combinations are established: Bryotypella minima (Hreblay & L. Ronkay, 1999), comb. n., Bryotypella miraculosa (Hreblay, Peregovits & L. Ronkay, 1999), comb. n., Bryotypella orbiculosa (Hreblay & L.
