A liposarcoma is extremely rare in the digits. A 73-year-old woman was diagnosed with a lipoma in her middle finger 10 years ago. As this tumor increased in size and presented with imaging findings that were atypical of lipomas, careful marginal resection biopsy outside the pseudo-capsule was performed, and the tumor was diagnosed as a well-differentiated liposarcoma. At the 5-year follow-up, the patient showed no evidence of local recurrence or metastasis, with no loss of hand function. The findings from this case suggest that even for a lipomatous tumor in the digits, further imaging examination and resection biopsy should be considered if the tumor presents with features that are atypical of lipomas.

AbstractBackground:Liposarcomas rarely occur in the parapharyngeal space and only a few case reports exist. For curative therapy of liposarcoma, surgical excision remains the dominant modality. Although a wide surgical margin is important to prevent local recurrence, wide excision is often difficult in the head and neck region.Case report:We report a case of a 19-year-old female with a well-differentiated liposarcoma arising in the parapharyngeal space. We removed the tumour surgically utilising a cervical–parotid approach. The histological diagnosis was well-differentiated sclerosing liposarcoma. There is no recurrence after five years and nine months of follow up.Conclusion:The patient's age and the tumour site made it difficult for us to make a quantitative diagnosis before the operation. Well-differentiated liposarcoma rarely develop distant metastasis, but often recur locally. The benefit of adjuvant radiotherapy for well-differentiated liposarcoma is still not clear and careful and long-term follow up is necessary.

Background: The cyclin D/cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)4/6 inhibitor of the CDK4 (INK4)/retinoblastoma (Rb) pathway plays a crucial role in cell cycle progression. Selective CDK4/6 inhibitors specifically target a variety of tumors, with the main focus on hormone receptor(HR)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-negative breast cancer (BC). Case Report: We report on the efficacy of neoadjuvant palbociclib and letrozole application in a patient suffering from invasive estrogen receptor (ER)+/HER2- BC and concurrent well-differentiated and dedifferentiated liposarcoma (WD-DDLPS) of the thigh. Clinical and histological workup upon surgery revealed significant regressive changes in both the liposarcoma and the BC. The 24-month follow-up shows no signs of disease. Conclusion: CDK4/6 inhibitors exhibit a high therapeutic potential, although reliable prognostic markers need to be identified.

AbstractIn this case report we describe a rare case of chondrosarcoma of the Temporomandibular joint in a 70 years old female who presented with a right preauricular swelling, trismus and neuralgic pain. On examination, firm and tender swelling was noted in the right preauricular region. CT Scan revealed 3.48 × 3.0 cm size mass lesion in the region of mandibular condyle and extending into the right temporomandibular joint space. The cytopathological report was suggestive of chondroid malignancy. The tumor was excised and histopathological examination showed large sheets of atypical tumor cells with cartilaginous matrix and diagnosis of a well differentiated Chondrosarcoma was confirmed. Post-surgical resection, patient remains disease free at 15 months follow up.

We report the case of a 38-year-old patient who was diagnosed with a cerebellar well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor (WDNET) in 2009. At first glance, we believed that it was a metastasis from an unrecognized WDNET arising outside the cerebellum. However, despite a prolonged follow-up of 6 years, an extracranial WDNET has never been found. During this time, the tumor recurred locally twice, and the patient was treated with surgery and radiotherapy. At the moment, he enjoys good general conditions and his tumor is under control. Due to the histopathological characteristics and clinical behavior of the tumor, we believe that this is the first report to date of a primary cerebellar WDNET.

Thyroid carcinoma is rare in children and differs from its adult counterpart in many aspects, including that childhood thyroid carcinomas are all well differentiated. Here we present a 14-year-old female from a goitrous area with follicular thyroid carcinoma with a predominant insular component. The child was well without recurrence or metastases after 5 years of follow-up.
