Aggressive vertebral hemangioma (AVH) is a type of non-neoplastic and congenital developmental abnormality of spinal cord blood vessels. We report the innovative application of three-dimensional (3D) printing-assisted anterior and posterior combined surgery for treating a giant AVH. This could be a novel treatment in the future. A 44-year-old man suffered from persistent neck pain and limited limb mobility for approximately 2 weeks. An imaging examination showed the destruction of C2–4 vertebral bodies, and a giant lesion invaded the spinal cord. He underwent 3D printing-assisted anterior and posterior combined surgery. Postoperatively, his symptoms of persistent neck pain and limited limb mobility were alleviated. An imaging examination showed that internal fixation and the prosthesis were fixed in place, and the spinal canal was unobstructed. Treating a giant AVH by 3D printing-assisted anterior and posterior combined surgery is feasible and effective.

Objectives: Tobacco use is not only harmful to the health of smokers, but also poses a threat to the health of people who are exposed to passive smoking, especially to children in their growth and development. This paper presents the application of smoking control behavior and psychological intervention in children's health information medical (imaging) examination. This paper is divided into three parts: The first part is the basic research of smoking control behavior and psychological intervention. The second part is the experimental model of medical image examination based on tobacco control, which introduces the experimental method and specific operation steps in detail. The core of the model is the improvement and optimization of smoking control behavior and psychological intervention and CT detection methods. By customizing services, the improved approach is more suitable for pediatric patients. The third part of this paper is comparative analysis. Through a large number of comparative experiments, the analysis of experimental data shows that psychological intervention in time during the smoking control behavior of children can effectively reduce the occurrence of psychological problems, and reduce the detection rate of mental health problems.

Abstract Background Craniopharyngioma (CP) is a slow-growing, benign tumor of the central nervous system located within the sellar and suprasellar regions. The tumor may extend from the suprasellar region to other areas. CPs are generally believed to originate from squamous remnants of an incompletely involuted craniopharyngeal duct that also develops from Rathke’s pouch. Primary parasellar craniopharyngioma is a relatively rare tumor, and nasal endoscopy, computed tomography, and enhanced magnetic resonance imaging can be applied to better evaluate the invasiveness and characteristics of these tumors. Case presentation We report a case of right parasellar craniopharyngioma in a 49-year-old female patient with a 10-day history of dizziness and blurred vision. Preoperative imaging examination revealed right parasellar space-occupying lesions, and the patient underwent transnasal neuroendoscopic resection of the right parasellar space-occupying lesion. The postoperative pathological result confirmed craniopharyngioma. Conclusions Primary ectopic parasellar craniopharyngioma is a relatively rare tumor, and preoperative imaging examination can assist in the evaluation of tumor characteristics. However, the final diagnosis continues to depend on the histopathological results.

Meningiomas located in the foramen magnum area are uncommon. We report the case of a patient with a mass lesion compressing the medulla, who was admitted to the Neurology Department for cervical pain and tetraparesis. On the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination, specific features for a meningioma were described, confirmed later by the histopathological examination. : The highly contagious novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) broke out at the end of 2019 and has lasted for nearly one year, and the pandemic is still rampant around the world. The diagnosis of COVID-19 is on the basis of the combination of epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, and laboratory and imaging examinations. Among them, imaging examination is of importance in the diagnosis of patients with suspected clinical cases, the investigation of asymptomatic infections and family clustering, the judgment of patient recovery, rediagnosis after disease recurrence, and prognosis prediction. This article reviews the research progress of CT imaging examination in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rupture of hydatid cyst of liver with intact proligerous membrane is rare. We report the case of a 63 year-old female patient presenting with right hypocondrium pain without fever or jaundice. Diagnostic imaging examination showed hydatid cyst in segment IV of liver associated with pelvic cystic lesion measuring 12 cm x 06 cm. Surgical exploration revealed ruptured unilocular hydatid cyst of the liver with intact proligerous membrane and free in the peritoneal cavity. This study aims to report a new case of intraperitoneal rupture of hydatid cyst of liver with intact proligerous membrane and to highlight the diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties due to this complication.

With the advancement and development of medical equipment, CT images have become a common lung examination tool. This article mainly studies the application of CT imaging examination based on virtual reality analysis in the clinical diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Before extracting suspected lymph nodes from a CT image of the stomach, the CT image sequence is preprocessed first, which can reduce the cumbersomeness of subsequent extraction of suspected lymph nodes and speed up the subsequent processing. According to medical knowledge, CT images of the stomach show that lymph nodes mainly exist in the adipose tissue around the gastric wall, but there are no lymph nodes in the subcutaneous fat outside the chest. The most basic gray value in the image and the neighborhood average difference feature related to gray level are used as the primary features of visual attention detection. When extracting the neighborhood average difference feature, we use a 3 ∗ 3 sliding window method to traverse each point of the pixel matrix in the image, thereby calculating the feature value of each pixel in the image. After the feature extraction is completed, it is necessary to calibrate the data and make a training data set. The SP immunohistochemical staining method was used. The specimens were fixed with 10% formaldehyde, routinely embedded in paraffin, sectioned, and stained with HE. The tumor tissue was determined by immunohistochemistry, and the reagents were products of Maixin Company. All patients were followed up by regular outpatient review, letters, and visits or phone calls. The data showed that immunohistochemical tumor cells showed positive staining for CD117 (14/15, 93.3%) and CD34 (10/15, 66.7%). The results show that the application of virtual reality technology to CT imaging examination can significantly improve the diagnostic accuracy of gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

Abstract Background: Fibrous dysplasia and Simple bone cyst are all common benign lesions. A case of osteosarcoma developing from fibrous dysplasia in combination with unicameral bone cyst will be discussed. The radiologic, histologic characteristics and clinical prognostic of the patient will be described. As far as we know, this is the first case report of malignant transformation secondary to fibrous dysplasia in combination with unicameral bone cyst, which is extremely rare and worthy of clinical attention or vigilance. Case presentation: This study describes a case of a 20-years-old male who suffered a 7-years history of intermittent pain in his right proximal tibia, obvious after activity and progressively worsening. Clinical symptoms and imaging examination were consistent with the characteristics of benign primary bone tumor. He underwent a successful curettage operation. Pathological diagnosis was fibrous dysplasia in combination with unicameral bone cyst. After the curettage surgery, the pain in his right knee quickly disappeared and function activities returned to normal during a regular follow-up postoperative. However, He was diagnosed with a recurrence of fibrous dysplasia in combination with unicameral bone cyst and osteosarcoma malignant transformation by chief complaint symptoms of pain and swelling in the right proximal tibia, adequate imaging examination, and pathological diagnosis at 2 years follow-up. Then the patient undergo a limb salvage with tumor prosthesis reconstruction of the right knee. Unfortunately, multiple and unresectable lymph nodes distant metastases happened even with two weeks localized inguinal radiotherapy treatment and one course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy monthly. He eventually received cancer hospice care and died eight months after the diagnosis as malignant transformation and systemic multiple organ metastasis.Conclusions: Although malignant transformation of fibrous dysplasia in combination with unicameral bone cyst is very rare, patients with this disease should be monitored and received lifelong follow-up to obtain early detection, diagnosis and treatment to maximize the efficacy of treatment and survival time. The histological and immunohistochemical findings is very important but not enough. Further research is required to clarify the pathogenesis and prevent malignant transformation.

Background:Over the past few decades, technological advances in both ultrasound (US) and the application of telemedicine have been made [1]. Medical education has shifted to online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, creating challenges in adequate training of US.Objectives:In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic and the discontinuation of traditional classroom teaching, a tele-didactic US course for undergraduate medical students was developed. This study is examining the educational outcome of a new digital US course of the abdomen, thorax and the thyroid gland with the implementation of a modern portable US system.Methods:A tele-guided US course was established between April 1st and June 20th, 2020, at the University Hospital in Bonn, Germany. Students completed pre-and post-course surveys and underwent six US organ modules. Each module took place in a flipped-classroom concept including a digital learning platform. An objective structured assessment of US skills (OSAUS) [2] was implemented as final exam. Further, US images of the course and exam were rated by the Brightness Mode Quality Ultrasound Imaging Examination Technique (B-QUIET) [3]. Achieved points in image rating were compared to the OSAUS exam and survey results.Results:A total of 15 medical students were enrolled. There was a significant increase in self-assessed theoretical and practical ability (p < 0.001). Students achieved an average score of 154.5 (SD ± 11.72) out of 175 points (88.29%) in OSAUS, which corresponded to the image rating using B-QUIET and self-assessment data obtained in surveys. Interrater analysis of US images showed a favorable agreement with an ICC (2,1) of 0.895 (95% confidence interval 0.858 < ICC < 0.924).Conclusion:US training via teleguidance should be considered in medical education. Our pilot study demonstrates the feasibility of this concept that can be used in the future to improve US training of medical students even during a pandemic. The digital implementation with an affordable, portable point-of-care-US device could be an incredible opportunity to expedite US training worldwide.References:[1]Law J, Macbeth PB.
