Mallomonas cattiensis, sp. nov. is described from Ta Lai reservoir, located in Cat Tien National Park (Dong Nai Province, Southeastern Viet Nam). The description is based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. This new species has thick, heavily silicified tripartite scales. The most remarkable features of the new taxon are thick secondary layer in form of lobate structures on the anterior flange of the scales and wide proximal border, covering the posterior flange and often overlapping the V-rib. Mallomonas cattiensis belongs to the section Mallomonas and is most morphologically similar to Mallomonas morrisonensis.

Mallomonas distinguenda sp. nov. and Mallomonas skvortsovii sp. nov. are described from Dak Lua swamp, located in Cat Tien National Park (Dong Nai Province, Southeastern Viet Nam). The description is based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. These species belong to the section Papillosae based on scale morphology. The most characteristic feature for both taxa is the shield reticulation. In the case of Mallomonas distinguenda, it is an external reticulation. By contrast, Mallomonas skvortsovii has internal reticulation.

Mallomonas kuzminii sp. nov. is described from an oligotrophic lake located in Russia, East Siberia, Northern Baikal region. The description is based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. This new species belongs to the section Mallomonas and has several types of scales with or without dome. The form of the scales, the strongly hooded V-rib, and a dome with ribs surrounded by the extensions of the anterior rib, are the main features which distinguish this new taxon from the other species of the section.

A new species Mallomonas lamii sp. nov. is described from Vietnam based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopies. The species belongs to the Mallomonas matvienkoae complex and is characterized by large oval scales with a thick secondary layer with internal reticulation that covers the distal one-third of the scale. The scale morphology of Mallomonas lamii is very similar to that of the fossil taxon M. pleuriforamen. Scales of Mallomonas lamii were found at thirteen localities from six provinces in central and southern areas of Vietnam. The distributions and habitat conditions of the new species are summarized.

Mallomonas gusakovii sp. nov. is described from Vietnam based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. This species belongs to section Quadratae and is characterized by large and broad scales of three types with an internal reticulation, V-shaped rib and a forward projecting wing. Different types of the V-shaped rib in taxa from section Quadratae are discussed. Scales of Mallomonas gusakovii were found only in two sites in Phu Quoc Island, Southern Vietnam.

Mallomonas fimbriata, sp. nov. is described from bog pool, located in Cam Ranh Peninsula, Khanh Hoa Province, Central Vietnam. The description is based on silica-scale morphology studied by means of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. New species has 3 types of scales: oval body scales, caudal ones with robust, long, forward pointing spines and elongated, widened to distal part apical scales. Scales are thick, 3-layered, with inner reticulation. Mallomonas fimbriata and the similar M. fenestrata form a special group with unique features of scales structure close to the sections Retrorsae and Quadratae.

Gynacantha cattienensis spec. nov. is described from Cat Tien National Park, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam, on the basis of male and female specimens. This species is close in structure to G. khasiaca McLachlan, 1896, and differs in details of cerci, auricles and thorax coloration. Historical records of G. khasiaca from Vietnam may refer to this new species. Some information on its biology is provided.

Lyriothemis pallidistigma sp. nov. (holotype male: Cat Tien National Park, Dong Nai Prov., southern Vietnam) is described. This species is reminiscent of L. defonsekai van der Poorten, 2009 and L. elegantissima Selys, 1883, but can be separated by the shape of its secondary genitalia and its patterning. Information on its biology and ecology is provided.

A new species of oribatid mites of the genus Lasiobelba (Oribatida, Oppiidae) is described from decomposing logs in the polydominant forest of Cat Tien National Park (Southern Vietnam). Lasiobelba longisensilla sp. nov. differs from  most similar species, L. sculpta Wang, 1993 and  L. yunnanensis Wen, 1999, by the smaller body size, notogaster without sculpturing, and lamellar setae shorter than rostral and interlamellar setae.
