Dendrobium dedeksantosoi, a new species of Dendrobium section Spatulata (Orchidaceae: Epidendroideae) from Maluku Islands, Indonesia, is described and illustrated. The flower of this new species is morphologically most similar to Dendrobium busuangense, but differs in having different shape and size of petals and lip as well as a different length ratio between column and column-foot.

Four additional species of quill mites of the family Syringophilidae Lavoipierre have now been recorded in England. This includes one new species, Bubophilus aluconis sp. nov., which parasitizes the tawny owl Strix aluco (Strigiformes: Strigidae). It differs from other species of this genus, B. ascalaphus Philips et Norton, 1978 and B. asiobius Skoracki et Bochkov, 2002 by the number of chambers in transverse branch of the peritremes (2-3), the length ratio of setae vi and ve (1:1.6-2), and the lengths of the stylophore and aggenital setae ag1 (180 and 135-145, respectively).

In this study, Fritillaria arsusiana (Liliaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from Hatay province in southern Anatolia, Turkey. It is related to F. amana and F. hermonis by habitus features and broadly campanulate flowers, but differs mainly by its bulb shape and size, smaller leaf and flower features, and flower colour. It has also been morphologically compared with F. wendelboi, F. pinardii, and F. latakiensis. The detailed description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, geographical distribution, habitat and phenology, etymology, conservation status, and identification key of the new and the related species are presented in this study. IUCN conservation status of F. arsusiana is suggested as Critically Endangered (CR).

A new species of Alternanthera from Kerala (SW-India), named Alternanthera indica, is described and illustrated. A detailed description, photographs, and drawings are provided. The new species resembles A. carcasana, A. paronychioides var. robusta, A. pungens, A. sessilis, and A. tenella for sharing habit and sessile synflorescences, but it differs from these species in several characters (i.e. shape and size of leaves, sepal length and hairiness, and appendages on the androecial tube margin and length).

Ceropegia jinshaensis D.T.Liu & Z.K.Wu (Asclepiadoideae, Apocynaceae), a new species from northwestern Yunnan along the upper Yangtze river of China, is described and illustrated. This species is similar to C. meleagris H. Huber, C. dorjei C. E. C. Fischer and C. aridicola W. W. Smith, but can be distinguished easily by its leaf shape and floral features, especially the corolla shape and size, the interior of corolla tube and coronal characters.

A new species of Justicia (Acanthaceae), J.thailandica, is described and illustrated from Thailand. The new species belongs to Justiciasect.Harnieria and is similar to J.quadrifaria and J.championii, but differs on account of the obviously densely white indumentum in the inflorescence bracts and calyx, ovate leaf blades with margin usually entire, spathulate inflorescence bracts and length ratio of calyx to mature capsule. It is assessed to be “Near threatened” (NE) according to IUCN Red List Category and Criteria. Pollen and seed morphology characters are also reported. Species of Justiciasect.Harnieria in Thailand are discussed and a key to the three recognized species is presented.

A new species, Dichoropetalum viarium (Apiaceae), is described from the Lorestan Province, Western Iran. The new species differs from D. paucijugum, D. aromaticum, and D. chryseum in the height, shape, diameter, and branching of the stem, shape of the terminal leaf lobes, shape of the bracteoles, shape and size of the mericarps, and shape of the stylopodium. In addition, D. viarium is recognized as a separate species by molecular analysis of nrITS.

Ferula melitensis, a new species from the Malta Archipelago, is described and illustrated. It belongs to the taxonomic group of F. communis, showing close relationships mainly with F. tunetana, F. arrigonii, F. communis s.str. and F. glauca, from which it differs in several features regarding the stem, leaves (mainly for shape and size of terminal segments), flowers and mericarps; other significant differences regard the ecology and phenology. The investigations, carried out on living plants, herbarium material and literature data, regard the morphological analysis of vegetative and reproductive structures, the anatomy of terminal leaf segments and mericarps, as well as the shape and size of seedlings. Previous phylogenetic approaches, based on nuclear and plastidial genome, have allowed to clarify better the relationships among F. melitensis and the other species of this group.

A new species, Ferula divaricata from Central Anatolia, is described and illustrated. The new species is closely related to F. rigidula and F. parva but differs in characters of stem, nodes, leaf dissection and pubescence, sheath and terminal segment shape and size.

Centaurea malatyensis Ş. Kültür & M. Bona sp. nova (Asteraceae) is described as new to science from East Anatolia (B6: Malatya: Turkey). It is morphologically similar to C. leptophylla but differs mainly in its stem, basal and cauline leaf shape and size, achene, pappus and phyllary appendages. The geographical distribution of the new species and its relatives is mapped. The ecology and conservation status of the new species is also presented. Micromorphological structures of achenes of C. malatyensis and C. leptophylla are examined by SEM.

A new slender twining herb, Vincetoxicum strigosum A. Kidyoo, from northeastern Thailand is described and illustrated. This species is morphologically similar to V. kerrii (Craib) A. Kidyoo, but can be distinguished by several morphological, anatomical, and ultrastructural characters, i.e. leaf indumentum, inflorescence architecture, shape and size of calyx lobes, stipe of gynostegium, apex of corona lobes, and shape of corpusculum.
