A new genus, Mediostigmaeus is proposed for two species, M. citri (Rakha & McCoy, 1984) comb. n. and M. floridanus sp. n. The new genus is similar to Mediolata in having only one pair of subcapitular setae but can be easily distinguished by having the palptibial claw subequal to the palptarsus, and setae c 1 , d 1 , d 2 , e 1 , e 2 , and f 1 situated on individual platelets. The adult female of M. floridanus sp. n., collected from domatia of Vitis sp., Lake Adair, Orlando, Florida, USA can be separated from those of M. citri by chaetotaxy of tarsi and pattern of hysterosomal shield.

A new genus, Cryptofavognathus is proposed for two species, Cryptofavognathus afyonensis (Koç & Akyol, 2004) comb. nov. and C. anatolicus sp. nov. The adult female and male of C. anatolicus sp. nov. collected from moss and a bird’s nest are herein described and figured.

A new Mexican state record is provided for Holoaerenica apleta Galileo & Martins, 1987 and a new Honduran record is provided for Antodice sexnotata Franz, 1959 (both Aerenicini). A new Mexican state record is provided for Ptericoptus caudalis Bates, 1880 (Apomecynini). A new record for Panama is provided for Novantinoe hovorei Santos-Silva, 2007 (Disteniidae, Disteniinae). A New Species

This paper presents a new genus, two new species, and several new records of mites associated with insects and soil in Cuba. A new monotypic genus of Laelapidae, Acantholaelaps gen. nov., is described to accommodate a new species, A. strategus sp. nov., on the basis of adult female and male specimens collected on Strategus sarpedon (Burmeister) (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) and Strategus surinamensis hirtus Sternberg (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae). The other species recorded were Macrocheles merdarius (Berlese) (Macrochelidae), Asca quinquesetosa Wharton (Ascidae), Gaeolaelaps cubaensis sp. nov. (Laelapidae) and Pseudoparasitus missouriensis (Ewing) (Laelapidae).

A new genus of Eriococcidae, Dzumacoccus Hodgson gen. n., is erected for a new species, Dzumacoccus baylaci Hodgson, Germain & Matile-Ferrero, feeding on Gymnostoma poissonianum, a species of Casuarinaceae endemic to New Caledonia. A new mealybug genus, Dorsoceraricoccus Dong & Wu gen. nov. (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae), is described to contain Dysmicoccus muajatae Williams as type species, and a new species, Dorsoceraricoccus ningboensis Dong & Wu sp. nov., collected from Zhejiang Province, China on Digitaria sp. (Poaceae). For the new species, the adult female is described and illustrated. In addition, a key to genera of the subfamily Pseudococcinae now known from China and a key to adult female now in Dorsoceraricoccus gen. nov. are provided.

A new monotypic mite genus of the family Laelapidae, Persicolaelaps gen. nov., is described to accommodate a new species, P. hallidayi sp. nov., on the basis of adult female specimens collected from decaying wood, soil and litter in northern Iran, Golestan and Mazandaran provinces, respectively. The new genus can be distinguished from other members of the family by a combination of morphological attributes, some of which are unique or rarely observed in laelapids, such as (1) a series of small subrectangular sclerites flanking dorsally coxae I and gnathosomal base and adjoining podal plates anterolaterally, which are extending from and fused with sternal shield between coxae I and II; (2) an epigynal shield, so broad as to reach or even overlap acetabula III–IV, posteriorly axe-shaped; (3) metasternal setae absent; (4) a typical anal shield, though capturing pair of opisthogastric setae JV3; (5) gnathotectum triangular and acuminate; (6) the presence of six setae on trochanter IV; (7) genu IV with two ventral setae (occasional in Laelapidae); (8) internal malae with a series of thick, elongate filaments.

A new genus and species, Unguitarsonemus paradoxus n. gen., n. sp. and a new species, Pseudotarsonemoides peruviensis n. sp. A total of 14 species in seven tingid genera have been described from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese (Kachin) amber from northern Myanmar, with very distinct paleofauna. Here, a new species of a new genus, Burmavianaida anomalocapitata gen. et sp. nov., is described from Kachin amber. This new species can be readily distinguished from the other described tingid taxa by the apparently smaller body and the structures of the pronotum and hemelytron. Burmavianaida gen. nov. shares the diagnostic characters with two clades composed of three extant subfamilies (Cantacaderinae + Tinginae) and Vianaidinae and may represent an extinct clade distinct from them. To the best of our knowledge, B. anomalocapitata sp. nov. is the smallest species of Tingidae among over 2600 described species. Our new finding supports the hypothesis of the miniaturization phenomenon of insects in Kachin amber, as suggested by previous studies.

AbstractThe order Intejocerida is an enigmatic, short-lived cephalopod taxon known previously only from Early–Middle Ordovician beds of Siberia and the United States. Here we report a new genus, Cabaneroceras, and a new species, C. aznari, from Middle Ordovician strata of central Spain. This finding widens the paleogeographic range of the order toward high-paleolatitudinal areas of peri-Gondwana.
