Two new mite species from Madagascar, based on female specimens, viz. Armascirus skvarlai sp. nov. and Cunaxa corpuzrarosae sp. nov. (Acari: Prostigmata: Cunaxidae), are described and figured. Armascirus skvarlai sp. nov. differs from the related species A. gimpeli Smiley, 1992 by having long hysterosomal platelets, thin and long lateromedial sts on the palpal genu, and from A. ozarkensis Skvarla & Dowling, 2012 by having a cone-shaped proterosomal shield with straight lateral edges, and by its nearly triangular hysterosomal shield. Cunaxa corpuzrarosae sp. nov. differs from the related species C. potchensis Den Heyer, 1979 by having 4 pairs of sts between coxae IV and the genital region, and by having a short stout palpal femoral apophysis; and from C. mageei Smiley, 1992 and C. neogazella Smiley, 1992 by having much shorter hysterodorsal and palpal tibiotarsal setae.

AbstractTwo new quill mite species parasitizing sunbirds (Nectariniidae) are described: Aulobia nectariniae sp. nov. from the Olive-backed Sunbird Cinnyris jugularis (L.), from the Black Sunbird Leptocoma sericea (Lesson), and Aulobia anthreptes sp. nov. from Plain-throated Sunbird Anthreptes malacensis. The family Nectariniidae is a new host group for syringophilid mites.

This paper deals with the water mite species of the family Aturidae Thor, collected from running waters in Bingöl Province, Turkey. Javalbia (Javalbicula) turcica sp. nov. and Barbaxonella bingolensis sp. nov. are described as new species; Axonopsis armata Chaudonneret & Angelier, 1949 is synonymized with A. romijni Viets, 1923; Kongsbergia (Kongsbergia) persica Pešić, 2005, Albaxona lundbladi Motaş & Tanasachi, 1947, Axonopsis (Hexaxonopsis) romijni Viets, 1923, A. (Navinaxonopsis) persica Pešić, 2004 and A. (Paraxonopsis) vietsi Motaş & Tanasachi, 1947 are reported for the first time for Turkey.

Two new pterodectine feather mite species collected in Indonesia (Kalimantan) are described: Montesauria indonesiana sp. n. from the Asian glossy starling Aplonis panayensis (Scopoli, 1786) (Passeriformes, Sturnidae), and Proterothrix murariui sp. n. from the White-rumped woodpecker Meiglyptes tristis (Horsfield, 1821) (Piciformes, Picidae). Males of M. indonesiana have adanal and opisthoventral circular shields, surrounding the base of setae g and ps3, respectively, and females have the anterior and lobar parts of hysteronotal shields well delimited from each other by a transverse groove. The new species of Proterothrix described here is the first species of this genus discovered on a host of the family Picidae. This species has unique character states and cannot be included in any of the species groups defined so far within the genus. In both sexes, dorsal hysterosomal setae c1 are absent and hysterosomal setae cp are spiculiform. Males of P. murariui have a pregenital sclerite (epiandrum), the aedeagus is band-shaped, thickened in the anterior half and narrowed in the posterior half, the terminal lobes have two pairs of trapezoidal membranous extensions, coxal fields I are almost closed, and coxal fields III are open. Females have a narrow terminal cleft, parallel-sided in the anterior 2/3, large and with oblique margins in the posterior 1/3.

In the paper two new species of the genus Rhyzobius Stephens, 1829 (R. antiquus sp. nov. and R. gratiosus sp. nov.) and one new species of the genus Nephus Mulsant 1846 (N. subcircularis sp. nov. without a certain subgeneric placement) from the Lowermost Eocene amber of Oise are described. Herein two new species of the genusSyngastesMonard, 1924 are described from South Korea, with detailed descriptions and illustrations. Both new copepods,Syngastesmulticavussp. nov. andS. pseudofoveatussp. nov., have two inner setae on the first exopodal segment of P2 and P3.Syngastesmulticavussp. nov. most closely resemblesS. gibbosusBartsch, 1999 reported from Australia, as they both have a five-segmented antennule in the female. However,Syngastesmulticavussp. nov. has a rounded body outline instead of the gibbose outline observed inS. gibbosus.Syngastespseudofoveatussp. nov. resemblesS. foveatusBartsch, 1994 in almost all aspects. However, they differ clearly in the number of setae on the first exopodal segment of P2 and P3. We also provide a key to species of the genusSyngastesworldwide. The present study is the first record of the family Tegastidae in Korean waters.

Two new species of South African Syllidae of the genusSyllisLamarck, 1818 are described.Syllis unzimasp. nov. is characterized by having unidentate compound chaetae with long spines on margin, a characteristic colour pattern and its reproduction by vivipary. Vivipary is not common among the polychaetes, but most representatives occur in the family Syllidae Grube, 1850 (in five otherSyllisspecies, two species ofDentatisyllisPerkins, 1981 and two species ofParexogoneMesnil & Caullery, 1818).Syllis unzimasp. nov. differs from the other viviparous species in having large broods (>44 juveniles) which develop synchronously. Development of the juveniles is similar to that of free-spawningSyllisspecies, but the appearance of the first pair of eyespots and the differentiation of the pharynx and proventricle occur later inS. unzima.Syllis amicarmillarissp. nov., is characterized by having an elongated body with relatively short, fusiform dorsal cirri and the presence of one or two pseudosimple chaeta on midbody parapodia by loss of blade and enlargement of shaft.Syllis unzimasp. nov. was found in high densities on culturedHolothuria scabraJaeger, 1833 with single specimens found on a culturedCrassostrea gigasThunberg, 1793 and on coralline algae, respectively, whileS. amicarmillariswas found mainly in sediment outside an abalone farm and less frequently on culturedHaliotis midaeLinnaeus, 1758. We discuss the possible benefits of the association withH. scabratoS. unzimasp. nov.
