This paper describes males of a new species of the cleptoparasitic euglossine genus Exaerete Hoffmannsegg. Exaerete guaykuru Anjos-Silva and Rebêlo new species, was found in the moist forest of Planalto dos Guimarães, located in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park in southern Mato Grosso, Brazil. Three males were captured using methyl salycilate baits in November 2004, at the beginning of the wet season. Illustrations of male features, including genitalia, and a key to species are provided.

Between 1998 and 2012, several scientific expeditions in Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve and Dzanga-Ndoki National Park led to the collection of many Mantodea specimens from Central African Republic (CAR). Among these specimens, several males of an undescribed species were discovered. Morphologically, this species most closely resembles to Chlidonoptera vexillum Karsch, 1892 and Chlidonoptera lestoni Roy, 1975. A new lineage was revealed by DNA barcoding. Therefore, a new species is described, Chlidonoptera roxanaesp. nov. Habitus images, genitalia illustrations and descriptions, measurement data, a key to species, natural history information, and locality data are provided. These results add to the evidence that cryptic species can be found in tropical regions, a critical issue in efforts to document global species richness. They also illustrate the value of DNA barcoding, especially when coupled with traditional taxonomic tools, in disclosing hidden diversity.

A new species, Amblydromalus amazonicus n. sp. is described and illustrated based on adults of both sexes. Individuals were found in association with plants in natural vegetation (Amazon Forest), on uncultivated plants in guarana crops, and on exotic fruit (residential area), in states of Amazonas and Mato Grosso, Brazil. The type material of A. akiri Nuvoloni, Lofego, Rezende and Feres was re-examined and the number of setae as well as the chaetotaxy of genu III is corrected. Notes on the occurrence of Amblydromalus in South America and a key to species of genus for this subcontinent is provided.

A new species of Smicridea (Smicridea) McLachlan 1871 is described and illustrated based on specimens collected from the Caatinga biome, in Sete Cidades National Park, Piauí state, and Ubajara National Park, Ceará state, northeastern Brazil. Based on phallus morphology, Smicridea (Smicridea) caatinga sp. nov. belongs to the S. nigripennis Group and can be distinguished from other species in this group due to the phallus having two ventral sclerotized projections and, when expanded, two dorsal membranous lobes and one ventrolateral membranous lobe with two spines on the apex. New distributional records of Smicridea species are provided for different Brazilian states: S. (S.) aequalis Banks 1920 for Ceará and Piauí, S. (Rhyacophylax) coronata Flint 1980 for Rio Grande do Sul and Piauí; S. (R.) jundiai Almeida & Flint 2002 for Mato Grosso; S. (R.) marlieri Flint 1978 for Roraima; S. (R.) palmar Sganga 2005 for Goiás; S. (S.) paranensis Flint 1983 for Ceará and Piauí; and S. (R.) spinulosa Flint 1972 for Rio Grande do Sul. Furthermore, S. Microlicia windischii is a new species described from Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, and Serra Ricardo Franco State Park, Mato Grosso, Brazil. We provide a detailed description of the new species and comparisons with its morphological relatives M. acuminata, M. arenariifolia, M. consimilis, M. juniperina, and M. multicaulis. Microlicia windischii is characterized by the linear-oblong leaf blades and subisomorphic stamens with concolorous and polysporangiate anthers. We also include an identification key for the four species of Microlicia from Mato Grosso and propose to synonymize M. souzae-limae under M. helvola.

Grammacephalus albatus sp. nov. is described from Wadi Wurayah National Park in Fujairah Emirate of the United Arab Emirates. A key to five species of Grammacephalus known from the Arabian Peninsula is given. Notes on relationships of Grammacephalus Haupt, 1929 and Bampurius Dlabola, 1977 are given, with the taxonomic position of Grammacephalus genoicus Dlabola, 1984 discussed.

A new species of Galumna (Galumna) (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are described from a sample of grass rhizosphere, from a meadow of the Tam Dao National Park, Northern Vietnam. Galumna (Galumna) dkrivolutskyi sp. nov. differs from G. pseudotriquetra Ermilov, 2015(b) by the larger body size, bothridial heads slightly developed unilaterally and by the absence of sejugal suture medially. A supplementary description of G. discifera Balogh, 1960 is present based on Vietnamese specimens. Morphological additions to description of the Vietnamese species, G. acutirostrum Ermilov & Anichkin, 2010, are given. An identification key to known species of Galumna (Galumna) from the Oriental region is provided.

A new species of Nothobrya Arlé is described and illustrated. The specimens were collected in Serra da Capivara National Park and its vicinities, Caatinga Biome, Piauí State, Brazil, from soil and leaf litter samples. Nothobrya sertaneja sp. nov. differs from the two previously described species of the genus, N. arlei Silveira & Mendonça and N. schubarti Arlé, by antennae with 4–5 antennomeres (6 in N. arlei and N. schubarti); metatrochanteral organ with 7–13 spine-like chaetae (15 in N. arlei and 3–4 in N. schubarti); tenaculum with 2–3 smooth chaetae on corpus (4 ciliated chaetae in N. arlei and 2 chaetae with unclear morphology in N. schubarti); and inner unguis with 2 basal paired teeth, 1 median and 1 apical tooth (2 basal paired, 1 median and 2 lateral teeth in N. arlei and 2 basal paired and 0–1 unpaired median tooth in N. schubarti). We present herein the first complete and labelled dorsal chaetotaxy description of the genus and the entire subfamily, including the S-chaetotaxy of the tergal segments. Finally, we also provide a new diagnosis to Nothobrya, plus an identification key to species of Nothobryinae.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.

Abstract—Justicia rubrobracteata, a new species from northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to J. aequilabris due to its shrubby habit, and terminal and axillary spicate inflorescences with red flowers. However, J. rubrobracteata is differentiated mainly by the shape and color of its bracts and bracteoles as well as an orangish macula in the corolla, and a torulose capsule. In addition, J. rubrobracteata is only known from northeastern Brazil, from the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, while J. aequilabris is widely distributed in Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. A table with the main morphological characters of both species is included, as well as photographs, a key to species of Justicia for the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil, a distribution map of both species, and conservation data for the new species.
