The genus Alloscolytroproctus Hustache is reviewed. It includes the type species, A. peruanus Hustache, and two new species, A. dominicae Anderson, sp. n, from the West Indies (Dominica) and A. ashei Anderson, sp. n., from Venezuela. All species are likely associated with palms. A key to the three species is provided, along with illustrations of the species and summaries of their natural history and distribution.

Two new species of leptanthurid isopods in the genus Accalathura are described: A. schotteae, from collections off Panama and A. kensleyi from Belize (material previously identified as A. crenulata in the collections of the National Museum of Natural History, Washington D.C.). The type species of the genus, Calathura crenulata Richardson, 1901, is redescribed from type material and a key to the species of Accalathura in the Caribbean and an adjacent region is given.

The small genus Spininola was recently erected by László, Ronkay & Witt (2010) with the type species Nola loxoscia Hampson, 1900. They tabulated six species in the genus, S. loxoscia (Hampson, 1900), S. vesiculalis (Eecke, 1926), S. trilinea (Marumo, 1923), S. denticulata (Moore, 1888), S. fuscibasalis (Hampson, 1896) and S. armata László, Ronkay & Witt, 2010 from Thailand. The genus is distributed in eastern Asia, from Nepal and Sri Lanka in the west, to Japan in the north and Sumatra in the south. In our surveys, two new species were found and are described herein, and S. loxoscia (Hampson, 1900) is recorded for the first time from China (Fig. 1).

The present paper contains descriptions of two new species and one new genus: Latinopsis patagonica gen. nov., sp. nov., and Candona quasiincarum sp. nov. Both species were collected during a two-month Franco-Chilean expedition to Madre de Dios archipelago in January and February 2006. The following new systematic arrangements are proposed: L. anisitsi (Daday, 1905) comb. nov., L. columbiensis (Mehes, 1914) comb. nov., and L. falclandica (Vavra, 1898) comb. nov. Latinopsis anisitsi is redescribed from the type material and a lectotype is designated. Two species are excluded from the subfamily Candoninae, one of which is Danielocandona albida (Sars, 1901). After examination of the type material the species is reclassified as Neocypridopsis albida (Sars, 1901) comb. nov. A checklist of the known species of Candoninae of South America and the West Indies is provided.

The genus Sicoderus Vanin is revised for the West Indies. A total of 32 species are known with 18 new species described herein as follows: Sicoderus aeneus (Haiti), S. alternatus (Dominican Republic), S. bautistai (Dominican Republic, Haiti), S. beatyi (Cuba), S. bipunctiventris (Cuba), S. caladeler (Cuba), S. detonnancouri (Dominican Republic), S. franzi (Puerto Rico), S. guanyangi (Dominican Republic), S. humeralis (Dominican Republic), S. lucidus (Dominica), S. medranae (Dominican Republic, Haiti), S. perezi (Dominican Republic), S. pseudostriatolateralis (Dominican Republic, Haiti), S. striatolateralis (Dominican Republic), S. thomasi (Haiti), S. turnbowi (Dominican Republic), and S. woodruffi (Grenada). All species are described or redescribed, natural history information is summarized and a listing of locality data from all specimens examined is included. A key is provided to all West Indian species of the genus. All species distributions are mapped and all (excepting S. propinquus Vanin) are represented by habitus images and images of male genitalia.

Seven new species and one new subspecies of the genus Strandesia s.l. Stuhlmann, 1888, are described. Four species reared by Sars (1901) from dried mud from Brazil are redescribed. The genera Acanthocypris Claus, 1892, and Neocypris Sars, 1901, are considered as subgenera of Strandesia s.l. Two species from Europe, formerly attributed to Cypricercus Sars, 1895, are redescribed. One of these, C. obliquus (Brady, 1868) was used as type-species for the erection of a new tribe and of the genus Bradleycypris by McKenzie (1982), but proves to be a member of the subgenus Neocypris of Strandesia s.l. Therefore Bradleycypris becomes a subjective synonym of Neocypris. On the other hand, Cypricercus fuscatus (Jurine, 1820) effectively shows the characters used by McKenzie for the characterization of Bradleycypris, and is selected here as type-species of the new genus Bradleystrandesia.

AbstractChrysocharis caribea sp. n., a parasite of agromyzid leaf miners, mainly of Liriomyza sativae Blanch, in the West Indies, and Emersonella palmae sp. n., parasite of Hispoleptis subfasciata Pic, a hispine leaf miner on oil palms in Colombia, are described. New generic and specific synonymies and new combinations are established in Chrysocharis Förster, Proacrias Ihering (=Didymotropis De Santis syn. n.), Chrysonotomyia Ashmead (=Achrysocharis Girault syn. n.), Teleopterus Silvestri, Pediobius Walker, Emersonella Girault, Euplectrus Westwood, Stenomesius West-wood, Diglyphomorpha Ashmead, Miotropis Thomson, Ardalus Howard and Grotiusomyia Girault. Additional taxonomic comments on Chrysocharodes Ashmead and Astichus Förster and tentative keys to the species of Proacrias and Emersonella are included. Lectotypes are designated for 24 specific names.
