The functions of a software package of 6 programmes developed for retrieving, decoding quality control and formatting of surface and upper air coded data have been presented here in brief. Intelligent use has been made of Fortran- 77 fact1ltles to make these programmes extremely efficient. Global data for surface and upper air received on GTS for an entire day is sorted, decoded & formatted after quality control in about three and a half minutes (CPU time) on VAX 8810 system.   The programmes do the management of files and can also be used for decoding the monthly data files of hard copy data. For coding of data, FGGE code has been used with very minor modifications. The results of quality control checks and number of reports received hour wise for each synoptic hour for each WMO block are monitored. Information from both is displayed on the terminal in tabular form and also recorded in disk for monthly archival.

The article examined the nature of deaths related to COVID-19 complications in Nigeria based on age. The researcher observes that National Centre for Disease Control, responsible for handling COVID-19 and reporting daily cases, only provides crude data about active, confirmed cases and deaths without grouping the data based on demographic characteristics. This motivated the researcher to sample some people who died as a result of the COVID-19 to carry out an age-specific analysis. Fifteen elderly people whose death was attributed to COVID-19 were sampled.  To achieve the purpose of the study, secondary data were sourced, presented, interpreted, and analysed in a tabular form. The study found that there is a paucity of COVID-19 data that reveals the sociodemographic characteristics of either affected persons or those who died. Similarly, the paper established most of the elderly people who died as a result of the COVID-19 were at the top echelon of social class.

The first findings of Cornu aspersum in the Lviv region are described, including the shell size and shell colouration variability. A review of the known records of C. aspersum in different regions of Ukraine, from the second half of the 19th century to the present day, is also presented. The most probable ways of penetration and the possibility of further acclimatization of this species in Western Ukraine are discussed. The chronology of the records of introduced species of land molluscs in Western Ukraine is described in tabular form, which, to a large extent, should reflect the chronology of their penetration into this area. It is noted that the majority of alien species began to be found in Western Ukraine only at the end of the 20th or the beginning of the 21st century. Simultaneously several species appeared here, previously known only for the south of the country.

Abstract In the present paper, the problem of finding the location of the so-called “characteristic point” of flexible footings is revisited. As known, the settlement at the characteristic point, is equal to the uniform settlement of the respective rigid footing. The cases of infinitely long strips and circular footings are studied fully analytically. For the case of rectangular footings, analytical results (for flexible footings) are compared with the respective numerical results (for rigid footings) obtained from 3D finite element analysis (210 cases were examined). As shown, the location of the characteristic point may greatly deviate from the well-known values reported in the literature, as it strongly depends on the thickness and Poisson’s ratio value of the compressible medium. For rectangular footings this location also depends on their aspect ratio, L/B. The location of the characteristic point with respect to the center of footing for the various cases examined is given in tabular form. Strain influence area values (Aj=ρjEs/qB) are also given for the convenient calculation of the settlement (ρj) of footings, especially the rigid, rectangular ones; q is the uniform surcharge of footing and Es the soil modulus.

The metal smelting industry tends to have high air Pb levels exceeding the threshold determined by the CDC is 100 g/m3. The smelting dust particles are Pb and SO2 circulating in the air along with combustion fumes is very possible to be inhaled by metal smelters who do not wear proper personal protective equipment. High levels of Pb The air inhaled by metal smelters can affect the health level of workers, one of which is the disruption of the erythropoiesis process which can cause abnormal erythrocyte index levels. This study aims to determine the description of erythrocyte index levels in metal smelters based on literature studies. This research is an observational qualitative research through a literature review approach, with data collection methods that use secondary data from several related scientific journals. Secondary data analysis is descriptive and presented in tabular form. Based on the results of research from three related scientific journals, the average level of the erythrocyte index in metal smelting workers is normochromic normocytic with an average length of work of more than 3.89 years, workers who smoke as much as 78% and those who do not smoke as much as 22%, workers who using PPE as much as 56% and 44% who do not use PPE.

The results of special radiosonde soundings extending upto 1000 ft made on certain selected dates and at certain selected hours during the winter season 1957-58 and pre-monsoon season 1958 over Dum Dum airport are discussed. The results indicated the formation of ducts at certain hours. The variations of the meteorological data with the progress of night are shown in a tabular form. The radarscope observations at the corresponding hours are also discussed. On some occasions the duet heights were as high as 600 ft and prevailed for the whole night. These duets extended horizontally in all directions to about 50 miles. The attenuation produced by appearance of fog/mist over the station and its masking effect on the ground clutters are also discussed. The mass concentration of water droplets on different dates has been calculated and shown in a tabular form.

Background: Some medical and technological tasks lead to the geometrical problem of how to cover the unit circle as much as possible by n congruent circles of given radius r, while r varies from the radius in the maximum packing to the radius in the minimum covering. Proven or conjectural solutions to this partial covering problem are known only for n = 2 to 5. In the present paper, numerical solutions are given to this problem for n = 6 and 7. Method: The method used transforms the geometrical problem to a mechanical one, where the solution to the geometrical problem is obtained by finding the self-stress positions of a generalised tensegrity structure. This method was developed by the authors and was published in an earlier publication. Results: The method applied results in locally optimal circle arrangements. The numerical data for the special circle arrangements are presented in a tabular form, and in drawings of the arrangements. Conclusion: It was found that the case of n = 6 is very complicated, whilst the case n = 7 is very simple. It is shown in this paper that locally optimal arrangements may exhibit different types of symmetry, and equilibrium paths may bifurcate.
