A new genus and two new species of Neotropical praying mantids are described: Chromatophotina awajun from Peru and Chromatophotina cofan from Ecuador. Study of the male genitalia suggests that Chromatophotina is a member of the tribe Photinaini, subfamily Photinainae, family Mantidae. Chromatophotina is distinguishable from other Photinainae by several unique characters, including the bright yellow-orange coloration of the metathoracic wings of the females, unique among the Photinainae. Additional remarks on the distribution and systematics of the new genus are also provided.

Sinojassus gen. nov. of tribe Iassini is described based on: two new species from China, S. loberus Dai, Zhang & Zhang sp. nov. (type species), S. aspinus Dai, Zhang & Zhang sp. nov.; one new species from China and Thailand, S. compressus Dai, Zhang & Zhang sp. nov.; and one new species from Vietnam, S. webbi Dai & Dietrich sp. nov. Detailed morphological descriptions, illustrations and a key to species are provided. The new genus resembles Coriojassus Evans, Hyalojassus Evans and Trocnadella Singh-Pruthi in the structure of the male genitalia. The style has an elongate apodeme and short apophysis, the connective is absent, and the aedeagus is simple, without processes, and connected to other parts of the genitalia by membranous ligaments. A key to Oriental genera of Iassini is also provided.

Alastria chicosp. nov. is described from western North America and Alastria machosp. nov. is described from Costa Rica. We provide illustrations of the adults and genitalia of all three species, as well as the male genitalia of two related genera, Nedra Clarke and Actinotia Hübner.

Cleicosta, a new genus of Phengodidae containing two new species, C. equatoreana sp. nov., and C. monaguense sp. nov., are described. Additionally, a new combination for Cenophengus breviplumatus Wittmer, 1976 is included. Cleicosta gen. nov., is the thirty-eighth genus assigned to the beetle family Phengodidae in the new world and is also the most morphologically similar to Cenophengus LeConte, 1881. Both genera exhibit clearly separated tentorial pits, vertical frons and simple tarsomeres. In Cleicosta gen. nov., however, the antennal rami are 1.5 times longer than the corresponding antennomere, the pronotum is subquadrate and the elytra are short, reaching the first or second abdominal segment. In addition, it presents an aedeagus with lateral lobes slender, parallel exteriorly, narrowed medially to toothless apex.

Elachistelmis gen. n. is described for two new species of riffle beetle, E. tetramera sp. n., and E. sipaliwiniensis sp. n. from southwestern Suriname. This new genus can be distinguished from all other elmid genera by its small size (ca. 1.0–1.2 mm), pronotum with sublateral carinae and lacking depressions, and the presence of a narrow band of plastron setae on the lateral edge of each elytron. Elachistelmis tetramera sp. n. is among the smallest recorded Elmini and possesses many characters associated with miniaturization, such as reduced tarsal formula and feathery wings with reduced venation. A key to species, scanning electron micrographs, and illustrations of the male genitalia are provided.

A New Species

Based on external morphological characters and the structure of the male genitalia, a new genus of Euchromiina from the Neotropical region, Apu gen. nov. is described. A new species is described, Apu mooreorum sp. nov. and the species Apu flavicornis (Druce) comb. nov. is redescribed. The genus occurs in the montane forests of the Andes. Diagnostic characters are provided for the genus and the two species which comprise it. Photographs of the adults of both species are provided, as well as the morphological characters of the male genitalia.

The new Neotropical genus Henryaria (Heteroptera, Rhyparochromidae, Myodochini) is established to accommodate two new species from Bolivia and Peru. A new genus, Prokius Nieves Aldrey, Medianero & Nicholls, gen. nov., and two new species of oak gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini), Prokius cambrai Medianero & Nieves-Aldrey sp. nov. and Prokius lisethiae Medianero & Nieves-Aldrey sp. nov., are described from adults reared from galls on Quercus bumelioides Liebm (Fagaceae, sect. Quercus, white oaks) collected in Panama. The new genus is phylogenetically and morphologically close to Dros Kinsey and forms part of a large clade that includes species from several other genera that appear to require revision, including Andricus Hartig and Phylloteras Ashmead. Molecular and morphological data, diagnostic characters, gall descriptions, distribution and biological data of the new genus and the new species are given. This new genus represents the fourth recently described genus of Cynipidae endemic to the Neotropical region.

Distinctive Structure

The new genus Graziaphylus is described to include two new species, Graziaphylus joceliae and G. nigripes. This new taxon is part of a large suite of Heteroptera from Australia known to feed on species of Eremophila (Scrophulariaceae), including other members of the Miridae as well as the Tingidae. The appearance of Graziaphylus spp. is similar to that of Xiphoidellus Weirauch and Schuh from Australia, and to Chlamydatus Fieber from the Northern Hemisphere (among other genera), but with scalelike setae, and elongate pulvilli adnate over most of the claw length, and the distinctive structure of the male genitalia.

A new genus Viperinus Park, gen. nov., belonging to Torodorinae (Lecithoceridae), is proposed, with descriptions of two new species, V. orbiosus Park & Koo sp. nov. from Kenya and V. pyknoistus Park & Koo, sp. nov. from Uganda. Furthermore, two new species of Protolychnis Meyrick, 1925, P. oculiella Park & Koo, sp. nov. and P. morogorensis Park & Koo, sp. nov., are described from Kenya and Tanzania, respectively. In addition, P. petiliella Park, 2020 is reported for the first time from Tanzania. The new genus, Viperinus is very similar to Protolychnis in the superficial characters, but it is separated from the latter by having unique characters in genitalia: a pair of processes arising from base of each valva in the male genitalia and a polygonal signal plate in the female genitalia. Images of adults and genitalia of the four new species are provided, and a checklist of Protolychnis Meyrick is also given.
