New euophryine jumping spiders from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico (Araneae: Salticidae: Euophryinae)

Twenty four new species and three new genera of euophryine jumping spiders from two Caribbean Islands, Hispaniolaand Puerto Rico, are described. The new genera are Corticattus (C. guajataca sp. nov. and the type species C. latus sp.nov.), Popcornella (P. furcata sp. nov., P. nigromaculata sp. nov., P. yunque sp. nov. and the type species P. spiniformissp. nov.) and Truncattus (T. cachotensis sp. nov., T. dominicanus sp. nov. and the type species T. flavus sp. nov.). The othernew species belong to the genera Agobardus (A. bahoruco sp. nov., A. cordiformis sp. nov., A. gramineus sp. nov., A.oviedo sp. nov., A. phylladiphilus sp. nov.), Anasaitis (A. adorabilis sp. nov., A. brunnea sp. nov., A. hebetata sp. nov., A.laxa sp. nov.), Antillattus (A. applanatus sp. nov.), Bythocrotus (B. crypticus sp. nov.) and Corythalia (C. broccai sp. nov.,C. bromelicola sp. nov., C. coronai sp. nov., C. peblique sp. nov.). Photographs of living spiders and diagnostic illustrations are provided for all of the new species.

Six new species and three new genera of cocalodine jumping spiders are described. Restricted to New Guinea and nearby areas, the Cocalodinae are basal salticids, outside the major salticid clade Salticoida. The new genera are Yamangalea (type species Y. frewana, new species), Tabuina (type species T. varirata, new species) and Cucudeta (type species C. zabkai, new species). In addition to these type species, described are the new species Tabuina rufa, Tabuina baiteta, Cucudeta uzet, Cucudeta gahavisuka, and Allococalodes madidus. The first description of females of the genus Allococalodes is provided. Natural history observations and photographs of living specimens are provided for all five genera of cocalodines.

Sixteen new species and four new genera of euophryine jumping spiders from the Old World (China, Malaysia and SouthAfrica) are described. The new genera are Chinophrys gen. nov. (type species C. pengi sp. nov.), Foliabitus gen. nov.(type species F. longzhou sp. nov.), Parabathippus gen. nov. (type species Bathippus shelfordi Peckham & Peckham, andnew species P. cuspidatus sp. nov., P. kiabau sp. nov., P. magnus sp. nov.) and Parvattus gen. nov. (type species P. zhui sp.nov.). The other new species belong to the genera Colyttus Thorell, 1891 (C. robustus sp. nov.), Emathis Simon, 1899 (E.gombak sp. nov.), Lagnus L. Koch, 1879 (L. edwardsi sp. nov.), Laufeia Simon, 1889 (L. concava sp. nov. and L. eximiasp. nov.), Thiania C. L. Koch, 1846 (T. latibola sp. nov. and T. tenuis sp. nov.) and Thyenula Simon, 1902 (T. laxa sp. nov.,T. nelshoogte sp. nov. and T. wesolowskae sp. nov.). The following species from Southeast Asia once described as Bathip-pus Thorell, 1892 are transferred to Parabathippus gen. nov.: Bathippus birmanicus Thorell, B. digitalis Zhang, Song &Li, B. macilentus Thorell, B. petrae Prószyński & Deeleman-Reinhold, B. rectus Zhang, Song & Li, B. sedatus Peckham& Peckham and B. shelfordi Peckham & Peckham. Laufeia liujiapingensis Yang & Tang is transferred to Chinophrys gen.nov.. Laufeia scutigeraŻabka is transferred to Foliabitus gen. nov.. Diagnostic illustrations are provided for all of the described new species. Photographs of living spiders are also provided for some new species.

Two new genera and eight new species of jumping spiders from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) are diagnosed, described, and illustrated. The new genera are Dendroiciusgen. nov. (type species D. hotaruaesp. nov. (♂♀)) and Megaeupoagen. nov. (type species M. yanfengisp. nov. (♂♀)). The new species are Colyttus yiwuisp. nov. (♂♀), Euophrys xuyeisp. nov. (♂♀), Foliabitus weihangisp. nov. (♂♀), Nigorella menglasp. nov. (♂♀), Onomastus chenaesp. nov. (♂♀), and Synagelides platnickisp. nov. (♂♀). A new combination is proposed: Megaeupoa gravelyi (Caleb, 2018), comb. nov., ex Brettus Thorell, 1895. Two new synonyms have been proposed: Irura prima (Żabka, 1985), syn. nov. with Irura mandarina Simon, 1903; Evarcha digitata Peng & Li, 2002, syn. nov. with Ptocasius montiformis Song, 1991.

Thirty-four new species and five new genera of euophryine jumping spiders from Papua New Guinea are described. Thenew genera are Chalcolemia (type species C. nakanai sp. nov.), Phasmolia (type species P. elegans sp. nov.), Variratina(type species V. minuta sp. nov.), Viribestus (type species V. suyanensis sp. nov.) and Zabkattus (type species Z. brevis sp.nov., plus new species Z. furcatus sp. nov., Z. richardsi sp. nov. and Z. trapeziformis sp. nov.). The other new species belong to the genera Bathippus (B. directus sp. nov., B. gahavisuka sp. nov., B. korei sp. nov., B. madang sp. nov.), Canama(C. extranea sp. nov., C. fimoi sp. nov., C. triramosa sp. nov.), Omoedus (O. brevis sp. nov., O. darleyorum sp. nov., O.meyeri sp. nov., O. omundseni sp. nov., O. papuanus sp. nov., O. swiftorum sp. nov., O. tortuosus sp. nov.), Paraharmochi-rus (P. tualapaensis sp. nov.), Sobasina (S. wanlessi sp. nov.), Thorelliola (T. aliena sp. nov., T. crebra sp. nov., T. joannaesp. nov., T. squamosa sp. nov., T. tamasi sp. nov., T. tualapa sp. nov., T. zabkai sp. nov.) and Xenocytaea (X. agnarssonisp. nov., X. albomaculata sp. nov., X. proszynskii sp. nov.). The genus Malacomorpha Rehn, 1906 is revised at the species-level, based upon examination of all necessary type-material and extensive material housed in ANSP, CMNH and USNM mainly collected on nine expeditions to the Dominican Republic, including collections at 280 sites distributed throughout the country. A re-description of the genus and detailed descriptions of all 13 known species are provided. Seven new species are described and illustrated: Malacomorpha bastardoae n. sp., M. macaya n. sp., M. hispaniola n. sp., M. minima n. sp., M. multipunctata n. sp. & M. obscura n. sp.from Hispaniola and M. sanchezi n. sp. from Puerto Rico. The eggs of M. bastardoae n. sp., M. cyllarus (Westwood, 1859), M. jamaicana (Redtenbacher, 1906), M. multipunctata n. sp., M. obscura n. sp., M. sanchezi n. sp., and M. spinicollis (Burmeister, 1838) are described and illustrated, those of the four latter species for the first time. According to the original description and distribution Phasma graveolens King, 1867 is obviously a synonym of M. cyllarus (Westwood, 1859), and not a synonym of Anismorpha buprestoides (Stoll, 1813) as stated by previous authors (n. syn.). A lectotype is designated for Phasma spinicollis Burmeister, 1838. The newly described species, M. longipennis (Redtenbacher, 1906) and M. hispaniola n. sp. in particular, prove the genera Pseudolcyphides Karny, 1923 (Type-species: Phasma spinicollis Burmeister, 1838) and Alloeophasma Redtenbacher, 1906 (Type-species: Anophelepis poeyi Saussure, 1868) to be synonyms of Malacomorpha Rehn, 1906 (n. syn.). Consequently, the type species of both genera are here transferred to Malacomorpha Rehn, 1906 (n. comb.). The genus now contains apterous, brachypterous and pterous species restricted to the Greater Antilles and Bahamas.

The jumping spider tribe Ballini is reviewed in the Afrotropical Region. The genera Afromarengo Benjamin, 2004 and Goleta Peckham & Peckham, 1894 are redefined. In Afromarengo, A. coriacea (Simon, 1900) is illustrated and A. ghanaensis sp. nov. (♀, from Ghana) and A. ugandensis sp. nov. (♂♀, from Uganda and D.R. Congo) are newly described. For Goleta, the type species, Goleta workmani (Peckham & Peckham, 1885), is redescribed from both sexes. Seven new genera and twelve new species are described, including three monotypic genera, Ballagascar gen. nov., with B. insularis (Peckham & Peckham, 1885) comb. nov. (ex Colaxes Simon, 1900) from Madagascar (♂♀) as the type species; Mondeku gen. nov., with M. albopilosum sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya) as the type species; and Oviballus gen. nov., with O. vidae sp. nov. (♂♀, from South Africa) as the type species. We also describe Planamarengo gen. nov., with P. bimaculata (Peckham & Peckham, 1903) comb. nov. (ex Afromarengo) from South Africa (♂♀) as the type species, as well as P. gatamaiyu sp. nov. (♂, from Kenya) and P. kenyaensis sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya); Propiomarengo gen. nov., with P. plana (Haddad & Wesołowska, 2013) comb. nov. (ex Afromarengo) from South Africa (♀) as the type species, as well as P. foordi sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa); Tenuiballus gen. nov., with T. minor sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa) as the type species, and also including T. coronatus sp. nov. (♂, from South Africa); and Wandawe gen. nov., with W. benjamini (Wesołowska & Haddad, 2013) comb. n. (ex Colaxes) from South Africa (♂♀) as the type species, and also including W. australe sp. nov. (♂♀, from South Africa) and W. tigrinа sp. nov. (♂♀, from Kenya and Uganda). A new combination for Copocrossa albozonata Caporiacco, 1949, Afromarengo albozonata comb. nov. is provided, and the name A. albozonata is treated as a nomen dubium. A new species of Padilla Peckham & Peckham, 1894, a genus only known from the Afrotropical Indian Ocean islands, P. wandae sp. nov. (♂♀, from Madagascar), is described. New data and illustrations for Sadies Wanless, 1984, as well as two Asian species of Colaxes, are provided. The recently revised Pachyballus Simon, 1900 and Peplometus Simon, 1900 are not treated further. A key to the genera of Afrotropical Ballinae is presented, as well as new data on their natural history, biogeography, and a discussion of the evolution of mimicry of various arthropod groups by balline jumping spiders. A putative synapomorphy and the new composition of Ballini sensu novo are proposed.

Resuming published and own data, a revision of classification of Chaetognatha is presented. The family Sagittidae Claus & Grobben, 1905 is given a rank of subclass, Sagittiones, characterised, in particular, by the presence of two pairs of sac-like gelatinous structures or two pairs of fins. Besides the order Aphragmophora Tokioka, 1965, it contains the new order Biphragmosagittiformes ord. nov., which is a unique group of Chaetognatha with an unusual combination of morphological characters: the transverse muscles present in both the trunk and the tail sections of the body; the seminal vesicles simple, without internal complex compartments; the presence of two pairs of lateral fins. The only family assigned to the new order, Biphragmosagittidae fam. nov., contains two genera. Diagnoses of the two new genera, Biphragmosagitta gen. nov. (type species B. tarasovi sp. nov. and B. angusticephala sp. nov.) and Biphragmofastigata gen. nov. (type species B. fastigata sp. nov.), detailed descriptions and pictures of the three new species are presented.

Abstract The kinetoplastid protozoan Leishmania spp. cause leishmaniasis, which clinically exhibit mainly as a cutaneous, mucocutanous or visceral form depending upon the parasite species in humans. The disease is widespread geographically, leading to 20 000 annual deaths. Here, leishmaniases in both humans and animals, reservoirs and sand fly vectors on the Caribbean islands are reviewed. Autochthonous human infections by Leishmania spp. were found in the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe and Martinique as well as Trinidad and Tobago; canine infections were found in St. Kitts and Grenada; and equine infections were found in Puerto Rico. Imported human cases have been reported in Cuba. The parasites included Leishmania amazonensis, Le. martiniquensis and Le. waltoni. Possible sand fly vectors included Lutzomyia christophei, Lu. atroclavatus, Lu. cayennensis and Lu. flaviscutellata as well as Phlebotomus guadeloupensis. Reservoirs included rats, rice rats and mouse opossum. An updated study is warranted for the control and elimination of leishmaniasis in the region because some of the data are four decades old.

Three new species of the genus Thaloe are described from Antillean region: Thaloe maricao n. sp., from Maricao, Puerto Rico and Virgin Island, Thaloe leboulet n. sp., from Le Boulet and Mariani, Haiti and Thaloe ebano n. sp., from the Dominican Republic. Females of species of this genus are described for the first time.

The paramunnid genera Austrosignum Hodgson, 1910 (type species A. glaciale Hodgson, 1910) and Munnogonium George & Strömberg, 1968 (type species M. waldronense George & Strömberg, 1968) are re-diagnosed. Twenty seven species are reviewed. Austrosignum is restricted to two described species, Munnogonium to five described species. The remaining 20 species are placed in the following eight new genera: Boreosignum (type species Austrosignum maltinii Schiecke & Fresi, 1972), Cryosignum (type species Paramunna lunata Hale, 1937), Meridiosignum (type species M. macquariensis sp. nov.), Tethygonium (type species T. quadricuspis sp. nov.), Quetzogonium (type species Austrosignum dentatum Winkler, 1994), Advenogonium (type species Austrosignum fuegiae Doti & Roccatagliata, 2005), Zizzygonium (type species Paramunna magellanensis Winkler, 1994), Kussakinella (type species Austrosignum spinosum Kussakin, 1982).
