Two new mite species of the genus Gaeolaelaps (Laelapidae), G. lankaensis sp. nov. and G. setillus sp. nov., collected from soil-litter in Sri Lanka, are described and illustrated based on morphological characters of the adult females. Both species have the unusual character state of a three-tined palp tarsal claw. The genus Gaeolaelaps is reported for the first time from Sri Lanka. An updated key to the species with a three-tined palp tarsal claw is presented.

A new mite species of the genus Gaeolaelaps (Laelapidae) collected from soil-litter in Zanzibar, Tanzania, is described and illustrated based on morphological characters of adult females. Gaeolaelaps bochkovi sp. n. has the unusual character state of a three-tined palp tarsal apotele.

This paper reports on three species of mites of the genus Gaeolaelaps from Altai Mountains, Russia. Gaeolaelaps altaiensis sp. nov., G. lenis Vatankhah & Nemati were collected from nests of Lasius sp. and Formica sp. (Hymenoptera: Formicidae), respectively, and G. euparadactylifer sp. nov. from moss on the shore of the Teletskoye Lake. The new species have the unusual character state of short peritremes, ending near the middle of coxae II. In G. euparadactylifer sp. nov., the pretarsal paradactyli on legs II–IV are strongly elongated, apically pointed and with their tips projecting well beyond the claws. Both new species are described based on morphological characters of the adults. In addition, the male of Gaeolaelaps lenis is described for the first time.

In this paper, M. yanomami n. sp., from Brazilian Amazonia, Chaetacis bandeirante n. sp., from Central Brazil, and the males of M. gaujoni Simon, 1897 and M. ruschii (Mello-Leitão, 1945) n. comb. , respectively from Ecuador and Brazil, are described and illustrated for the first time. An ontogenetic series of the last development stages of both sexes of Micrathena excavata (C. L. Koch, 1836) is illustrated and briefly described. Adult females are larger and have longer legs and larger abdomens than adult males. Probably females undergo at least one additional moult before adulthood, compared to males. Micrathena ornata Mello-Leitão, 1932 is considered a junior synonym of M. plana (C. L. Koch, 1836), and M. mastonota Mello-Leitão 1940 is synonymized with M. horrida (Taczanowski, 1873). Acrosoma ruschii Mello-Leitão, 1945 is revalidated, transferred to Micrathena and considered a senior synonym of M. cicuta Gonzaga & Santos, 2004. Chaetacis necopinata (Chickering, 1960) is recorded for Brazil for the first time. Chaetacis incisa (Walckenaer, 1841) is considered a nomen dubium.

Three water mite species of the genus Torrenticola Piersig, 1896 are reported from Foding Mountain National Nature Reserve, Guizhou Province, China. Torrenticola fodingensis Gu & Guo, n. sp. and T. tenuichelicera Gu & Guo, n. sp. are described and illustrated as new to science, and T. nipponica (Enami, 1940) is recorded in China for the first time, with the first description and illustration of its deutonymph. In addition, a key to the species ofTorrenticola in China is presented in this paper. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, P. R. China (GUGC).

Mites of the family Athyreacaridae are recorded from Asia for the first time. Two new species of Athyreacarus are described, A. indicus sp. nov., collected on the beetles Bolbohamatum laevicolle and B. marginale in India, and A. brevisetosus sp. nov., collected on a beetle Bolboceras sp. in Sri Lanka. An updated key to species of the genus Athyreacarus is provided.

The Cratocentrinae (Hymenoptera: Chalcididae) of the West Palaearctic region are reviewed. A reappraisal of the morphological characters used for their recognition and phylogeny is provided as is a key to separate the genera and species of the region. Their distribution in the West Palaearctic is updated and the subfamily is reported for the first time in Europe. Cratocentrus inermus Delvare sp. nov. and Philocentrus papillus Abul-Sood & Gadallah sp. nov. are described. A neotype is designated for Philocentrus argenteopilosus (Cameron), which is revalidated and transferred to Philocentrus comb. nov. & stat rev.

Three new genera and 11 new species from New Guinea are described in the tribe Monophlebulini. Erropera, gen, nov., contains four new species: E. ablusa, E. papuensis, E, pilosa and E. sedlaceki; Modicicoccus, gen. nov., contains four new species: M. gagnei, M. kaindiensis, M. monticolus and M. rtewsteadi; and Peengea, gen. nov., contains one new species: P. affinis. Two new species of Mottophlehirlus Cockerell, M. enarotalicus and M. gressitti, are described. The adult females of all 11 new species and the first instar nymphs of E. sedlaceki and P. affinis are described. A marsupium associated with the genital opening of the adult female is reported for the first time in the tribe Monophlebulini.

The present study is based on ptyctimous oribatid mite material collected from the Oriental region (Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau Peninsula, Taiwan). A list of identified taxa, including 33 species from 15 genera and six families, is presented. Two new species, Euphthiracarus (Pocsia) insperatus Niedbała sp. nov. (Euphthiracaridae) from Indonesia and Hoplophthiracarus paraconcinuus Niedbała sp. nov. (Steganacaridae) from Malaysia are described. Morphological additions to Mesoplophora (Parplophora) brevicarinata, Acrotritia ardua, A. paraardua, A. sterigma, Plonaphacarus kugohi, and P. protrusus are presented. Deuto- and tritonymph of Apoplophora phalerata are described. Mesoplophora (Parplophora) flavida and Indotritia (Indotritia) krakatauensis are recorded for the first time in Sri Lanka, Austrotritia robusta, Sabahtritia sarawak and Phthiracarus pygmaeus in Indonesia, Microtritia minima, Atropacarus (Atropacarus) striculus, Plonaphacarus foveolatus, and P. protrusus in Taiwan. Acrotritia mahunkai and A. paraardua are recorded for the first time in the Oriental region.

The assassin bugs of the genus Ptilocerus Gray, 1831 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae: Holoptilinae) occurring in the Australian Region are reviewed for the first time, resulting in the description of two new species, viz., P. spangenbergi sp. nov. (Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia) and P. papuensis sp. nov. (Papua New Guinea). The latter species differs from P. fuscus Gray, 1831 (the type-species of genus Ptilocerus) in a couple of major external morphological characters, hence its tentative placement in the genus Ptilocerus is discussed. A key for the separation of the two new species is provided.

A survey of the camerobiid mites living on epiphytic bromeliads and the forest floor of a Mexican tropical dry forest was carried out. We found three new species of the genus Neophyllobius, which are described in this paper; the first two, namely N. cibyci sp. nov. and N. tepoztlanensis sp. nov., were both found inhabiting bromeliads (Tillandsia spp.) and living on two tree species (Quercus obtusata and Sapium macrocarpum); the third, N. tescalicola sp. nov., was found in soil and litter under Q. obtusata. These three new species can be differentiated from other species in the genus by a combination of morphological characters in adult females, mainly those setae on femora and genua I. The idiosoma and leg setal ontogeny of a camerobiid mite is presented for the first time in this paper, illustrating chaetotaxic notations and their relative positions in N. cibyci sp. nov. larva, protonymph and adults (female and male), and establishing setal homologies among instars. Setal homology with other species in the cohort Raphignathina is briefly discussed. Additionally, a compilation and an identification key to all known species of camerobiid mites in Mexico is provided.
