On two species of the alpheid shrimp genus Salmoneus Holthuis, 1955 from Kuwait, one of them new to science (Malacostraca: Decapoda: Caridea)

The alpheid genus Salmoneus Holthuis, 1955 is reported from Kuwait for the first time, with two species. One species, Salmoneus ikaros sp. nov., is described based on a single specimen from Failaka Island, extracted from the burrow of the callianassid ghost-shrimp Balsscallichirus masoomi (Tirmizi, 1970), together with the host. The new species is characterised by its peculiar eyes, which together with other characters separate it from all previously described species of Salmoneus. The second species, Salmoneus gracilipes Miya, 1972, is reported from Kuwait based on three specimens from two different localities and different habitats. Two specimens were found under coral rocks at a depth of about 7 m off Kubbar Island, whereas the third specimen was extracted from the burrow of the echiuran worm, Listriolobus cf. brevirostris Chen & Yeh, 1958, at the type locality of S. ikaros sp. nov. at Failaka Island. Material identified as S. gracilipes from across its wide distribution range appears to be morphologically heterogeneous, possibly containing more than one species, and thus will need further studies.

Abstract Propagurus haigae (McLaughlin, 1997), a relatively large-sized species of Paguridae, is reported for the first time from Japanese waters based on a single specimen collected from a depth of 620 m off Ie Island, central Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. It is the third species of the genus Propagurus McLaughlin & de Saint Laurent, 1998 known from Japanese waters. The present specimen greatly extends the distribution range of P. haigae, because the previous northernmost record was the Molucca Sea in Indonesia.

Leptalpheus lirai sp. nov., a new species of symbiotically living, infaunal alpheid shrimp, is described based on a single specimen from the Gulf of Santa Fe, Sucre, Venezuela. The new species belongs to an informal group of nine species within the genus Leptalpheus Williams, 1965, which is characterised by the presence of well-developed adhesive disks on the major chela. In addition, Leptalpheus axianassae Dworschak & Coelho, 1999 and Fenneralpheus chacei Felder & Manning, 1986 are recorded for the first time from Venezuela (Anzoátegui and Sucre, respectively), the latter also representing the first record of the genus Fenneralpheus Felder & Manning, 1986 for the country. These records bring to 11 the number of alpheid genera, and to four the number of species of Leptalpheus, known in Venezuelan marine waters.

Within the tribe Pipistrellini, the genus Glischropus is very close to the genus Pipistrellus both in its external morphology and chromosomal features but can be unequivocally distinguished from the latter by the presence of thumb pads and the position of the second incisor. One of the two known species, G. tylopus was thought to have a wide distribution range from Myanmar to the Philippines, while the other, G. javanus is only known from Java. Recently collected Cambodian specimens of Glischropus are distinguished from their congeners by longer forearm and cranial features (the shape of the skull and the upper incisors and certain craniodental measurements) and are consequentially, described here as a new species. Based on thorough examination of the available museum material, it can be concluded that all specimens of G. tylopus previously collected in the Indochinese zoogeographic subregion are in fact representatives of this new species, while G. tylopus in a strict sense is restricted in the mainland to south of the Isthmus of Kra.

The female of Xiphodontus endroedyi Bartolozzi, 2005 is described for the first time. The new locality record for this species shows that it actually has a wide distribution range across the Cape Floral Region, in the Fynbos Biome. Both larvae and adults were found boring into dead wood at the base of senescent trunks of a variety of Proteaceae species, including the alien invasive Hakea sericea.

In the third part of the revision of the family Metarbelidae (Lepidoptera) of South-Eastern Asia, we provide a revision of the genus Stueningeria Lehmann, 2019 with description of six new species: Stueningeria htetae sp. nov. (Type locality: Mynmar, 21 km E Putao), Stueningeria csovarii sp. nov. (Type locality: Thailand, Changwat Nan, 15 km N of Bo Luang), Stueningeria loeffleri sp. nov. (Type locality: Thailand, Sakhon Nakhon Prov., Phu Pan NP), Stueningeria ihlei sp. nov. (Type locality: Vietnam (C.), Prov. Thua-Thien-Hue, Kreis A Luoi, Gemeinde A Rong, Passastrasse ca. 30 km S A Luoi.), Stueningeria murzini sp. nov. (Type locality: China, SW Yunnan, Xishuanbanna, Guanping env., 60 km N Jinghong), and Stueningeria pinratanai sp. nov. (Type locality: NW Thailand, Chiangmai, Doi Pui Forest Res. Stat.)  Two new combinations are established: Stueningeria campbelli (Hampson, 1910) comb. nov. and Stueningeria phaga (Swinhoe, 1894) comb. nov. Both species are redescribed. The type species of the genus Stueningeria nepalensis Lehmann, 2019 is reported for the first time for the fauna of India (Uttarakhand). We also give for the first time the description of female genitalia of the genus Stueningeria. The genus distribution map is provided.

AbstractThe species of Synophromorpha Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) are reviewed. One new species is described (Synophromorpha kaulbarsi; type locality: Naupan, Puebla, Mexico). The previously described species (S. rubi Weld, S. sylvestris (O.S.), and S. terricola Weld) are redescribed, and a key to species is presented. All species are illustrated for the first time. Synophromorpha sylvestris is designated type-species for the genus and a lectotype is chosen. Hypotheses on the phylogenetic relationships between the species of Synophromorpha are presented.

A new species of Placospongia is described from Bahia State, Brazil. Placospongia giseleae sp. nov.. The specimen is found on the underside of rocks in shallow waters (0-20m), and is unique by having a spiculation consisting of two tylostyle categories, selenasters and acanthomicrorhabds. In addition, Placospongia ruetzleri, is recorded for the first time to Bahia state, 2.974 km southwards from its type locality, the Guyana shelf. The diversity of Placospongia species is raised from two to four taxa. An identification key for Western Atlantic Placospongia species is presented.

A new species of the genus Munida Leach, 1820, is described and illustrated based on a single specimen from the deep-sea hydrothermal vent on the Eastern Pacific Rise. Munida alba sp. nov. closely resembles M. ampliantennulata Komai, 2011, M. watatsumin Komai, 2014. and M. magniantennulata, but differences in the morphologies of the third maxilliped, pollex of the cheliped and the third segment of the antennal peduncle readily distinguish the new species from the three relatives. The new species is the fourth of the genus occurring at the hydrothermal vent areas.

AbstractThe new species Coniarthonia aurata E. L. Lima, M. Cáceres & Aptroot, Cresponea endosulphurea A. A. Menezes, M. Cáceres & Aptroot, Cryptothecia macrocephala E. L. Lima, M. Cáceres & Aptroot, and Synarthonia sarcographoides Aptroot, A. A. Menezes, E. L. Lima & M. Cáceres are described from Caatinga vegetation in NE Brazil. They were found in the Chapada do Araripe in the state of Ceará and/or the Vale do Catimbau National Park in Pernambuco. Coniarthonia aurata has weakly organized, semiglobose apothecia with golden crystals, and on first impression looks like the anamorph of a Tylophoron. Cresponea endosulphurea has a pigment of the group of xantholepinones in the thallus. It is the first time that a substance from this group is reported from the Arthoniales. Cryptothecia macrocephala has strongly macrocephalic ascospores and contains psoromic acid in the thallus. Synarthonia sarcographoides is only the third species in this rarely found genus. It is characterized within the genus by muriform, brown ascospores, but it is assigned with hesitation to the genus. It is locally quite common.
